"Shadowrun will be the greatest awesome I'M COVERED IN...500 - Internal Server Error"

I really wanna buy this game. I'm just on the fence because of the direction they took in regards to the previous versions. After reading the forums there it doesn't seem at all related to the past games. I loved the Genesis version though. Ill have to wait for this one....

I played the SNES version a little while ago and I didnt know what the hell to do. I was running around getting shot on the street through windows and shit, then I walk into a bar and theres orcs and what not standing around, Lol i thought it was awsome. Thats the only reason im paying attention to this game.

Google translation says.

The LOGIN secondary chief editor where the rice of three times compared to FPS love, the favorite also the rice of three times seems with lie, becomes such a somatotype. Overseas game three times (omission) with, to tell the truth enthusiastic Xbox360 fan. The [tsu] [te] which fights sows with every night '[giazuobuuo] and' it is

Shadowrun = the rice of three times compared to FPS love, the favorite also the rice of three times seems with lie

We need Shadowrun haiku.

I asked my polish-japanese-mexican friends to translate that review:

We have never played [a game] like that before. It is engaging, easy yet difficult [something like easy to learn, hard to master], gorgeous ["bestest looking" he said] and most of all: FUN, FUN, FUN. Judging by the Beta we think Halo 3 has nothing on ShadowRun and will bomb very hard [Halo 3 that is] when ShadowRun hits the market. Many FPS gamers who played nothing but Counteru-Striku will move on to ShadowRun because it is that good. It is like Gears of Wars [it is written like that in the article!] meets Metal Gear Solidus Snake and Systemu Shocku 2. We found our magazine friends to play ShadowRun 36 hours a day. Our art director said it has the best graphics of any console game ever [they mentioned PS3 and 360 only, srry Wii owners] even better than that monster PC Crysis [they actually said $10 000 PC].

Japan has never felt presence of such magnificent game before, we bow our heads to this masterpiece.

Umm...I don't think that review is very trustworthy considering he says Halo 3 will bomb and the game looks better than Crysis :lol

I haven't seen a publisher set a major game up to almost intentionally like Shadowrun for the PC.

*) Vista Only
*) No PC Demo
*) Due to the above two factors, no assurance of anyone to play with unless you are a Gold subscriber, then you can play with Xbox Live players and their awesome peer to peer infrastructure.

Seriously, this is a joke. Would it have been that hard to cobble together a working PC demo with one or two maps and dedicated server install for it a month ago? If they had done that and if the game was good, they might actually have moved some decent units. Now, as it stands, both of the Live for Windows games have been botched in their own unique and terrible ways. Microsoft's PC gaming division has made a sum total of one good decision over the last year, it seems, and that was to shove some money at Big Huge Games to make another Age Of Empires 3 expansion.

Some of that may be due to the translation. The subtle nuances can get lost through the 3 or 4 language translations it traversed. However, rest assured that the overall point is the same.

:lol

I'll be picking up the game within a couple hours...I'll post impressions.

EDIT: my bad...guess it ships today, releases tomorrow. ARGH.

"Sony is in trouble if these games take off. They don’t even do multi-player that well yet"

:lol

Resistance:

40 players
Dedicated servers
Free for everyone with a PS3 to play

Halo 3:

16 players
No dedicated servers
50 dollars a year to play

Halo 3 ain't no Resistance killer. Someone needs a lesson in how to do online gaming right.

It sure as hell isn't Sony...

I predict there will be a lot of crow eating when this game turns out to be actually good.

Well, I think more people would rather enjoy their crow with a side of good game, rather than the opposite scenario (when a game is overhyped and stinks). I still don't think it will sell well, but that seems to be more MS' fault than FASA's.

I don't get how they could spend so much time/money making the game, and then not even bother to market it properly. They couldn't signal the end of the internal FASA team more loudly.

Microsoft is just going to take its FASA properties and dole them out with exclusive publishing rights to quality developers who need a good license to attract attention to thier games.

Could be a "Crackdown am total" scenario developing here, if the western reviews aren't too shabby.

Well, my shittay EB Games won't get it in until tomorrow or Thursday, so I'm stuck waiting on this. Are we getting a GAF group together?

FASA is fully owned by MS, which makes it MS' fault regardless of where the mistakes were made.

There are a lot of mixed messages coming from their forums. They've mentioned a number of times on there forums that they have plans for DLC, but don't want to talk about them yet, band the rumors fly that FASA is closing once the game releases. At anyrate, I'll be buying my copy since circuit city is having a deal w/ forza 2 and shadowrun + 19.99 game.

I'd say that you can lay at least part of the blame on FASA for various design choices that make the game difficult to market at full price. On top of that this game took several years and a probably ridiculous budget, which made it extremely difficult to justify a budget price.

Trying decide if I want to blow my semens on Shadowrun. I have a few days to see if my 360 dies which will determine if I get it now or later:lol

Where are all the reviews? Anyone know if there is an embargo on reviews until tomorrow or something?

It might be due to the fact that its an online only game and reviewers are waiting to play with others before writing their reviews.

WHAT :lol

This game will live and die by its gameplay alone. If they're depending on graphics to save it...ye gods :lol

The graphics aren't bad at all - it's the art that is pretty terrible.

For most, the $60 is for a game that will be played, at best, for just a little less than 4 months and then will be shelved in favor of Halo 3. To me, Shadowrun is like last year's Chromehounds; those who play it will love it only to have it disappear from most Friends lists by the beginning of Fall. With Forza 2 coming out on the same day and some of my FPS buddies going to that instead, it is really, really hard to justify buying this game even though what I played of it during the Beta I really liked.

the graphics are horrible. you could even say that it's counter-strike in hd. the onyl that could save this game was the art-style. you can hide a lot of technical flaws if your game looks appealing but, alas, it looks like a pile of poop teleported back from 1998.

The character models are so-so, but the maps are looking rly good.

What's unbelievable is that the 360 version is selling for $59.99. The PC version is on sale for $44.99 in one store (Best Buy or CC, not sure which). For a multiplayer only game, that just seems crazy. I'd honestly like to give this game a shot, but @ $59.99, it seems to high a price to pay.

I can understand the complaints over the lack of maps and gametypes, but how is $59.99 for a multiplayer game different from $59.99 for a single-player only game? I've seen some very anemic content games sell for $59.99 and Shadowrun actually has the gameplay to last for a long time ala Chromehounds.
