What's unbelievable is that the 360 version is selling for $59.99. The PC version is on sale for $44.99 in one store (Best Buy or CC, not sure which). For a multiplayer only game, that just seems crazy. I'd honestly like to give this game a shot, but @ $59.99, it seems to high a price to pay.

Heh. I just checked a couple of online stores and the prices range from (the equivalent of) $45 to $50. Which just makes this whole thing even weirder. I'm all happy and shit though, even considering a purchase because of this.

In our moneys Shadowrun is 449SEK. The standard price for 360 games is 599SEK.

I don't know. I just thought it was very funny. Nothing against the game, I loved the opening cinematic. But I could not stop laughing. I laugh at random things sometimes.

For most, the $60 is for a game that will be played, at best, for just a little less than 4 months and then will be shelved in favor of Halo 3. To me, Shadowrun is like last year's Chromehounds; those who play it will love it only to have it disappear from most Friends lists by the beginning of Fall. With Forza 2 coming out on the same day and some of my FPS buddies going to that instead, it is really, really hard to justify buying this game even though what I played of it during the Beta I really liked.

Denog: are you planning on picking this up? I'm kind of wating for reviews and see if GAF clan gets up and running, but I'm leaning towards grabbing this. Forza demo was pretty cool, but this is more my cup of tea.

I'm thinking about picking it up but I have two concerns about the game...

1) Price is too high. It's a first party title, it's online only, and it's less than $50 for PC. There is absolutely no reason why the price should be the high.

2) FASA closing down (?). I haven't heard the latest but apparently FASA is closing down which makes me worried for the future of this title. Will I be playing a $60 for a game only to find it completely broken after a month due to some multiplayer exploit someone found with no fix in sight due to the fact the dev team has been split up?

I share both of your concerns actually. But if this game were to become this Summer's Chromehounds, I'd be getting my money's worth out of it. That was an excellent game last year, made all the better with the GAF clans.

support of the game doesn't equal stability of the studio. and yes. they could just contract out new levels and patch work.

I'm sure there will be a 'map pack' shortly after launch, but it is more about long term support of shadowrun that is pretty unclear at this time.

It's a travisty there's no map editor for the PC version.

If a PC game is really good the community can support it and make it grow, unfortunatley that's just not an option for this game.

that is probably one of the largest mistakes. the game was built on this crazy custom engine based on abstract layer for Maya (or so I hear, I could be wrong. It isn't an off the shelf engine like UE, Source, or something like that). So the level of entry making maps would have been pretty high.

If it did have a good functional level editor I think it might have been a totally different story with the game.
