I bought this game when I picked up Forza. I am frightened to open the box because I can't return it afterwards.

I am waiting on a review - ANY REVIEW - before I commit.

It's great. Play it. Reviewers are probably waiting for a full online experience before review

Easy, but its a naughty thing to do, return the opened game to the store you bought it, said it does not work, they'll let you replace it with the same game (just don't open it), then go to another store and return it. Easiest place to do this at is Walmart just a tip, but like I said its wrong.
 
I remember playing the tutorial in the beta, and saying to myself, "Why the **** didn't they design a single player game around this?"

Eh, I don't know. I've finished the second tutorial and just wow. I hope this translates to the bot matches. Because this is unbelievable at this point. Teleporting is so awesome.

There's a veil of silence around this game. No sites are reviewing it, and the people who actually have it don't post impressions about it. Can anyone say what has changed since the beta? Does it look any better?
 
Your AI teammate bots are borderline retarded, on veteran mode CTF I literally had to do every single little thing.

Enjoying it so far though.
 
just thought I'd have one last read before bed and wow the tables have turned on Shadowrun! Shi* I guess it wont be such a long wait till the Uk forza release. Come on Friday.
 
I don't understand this "full price for online only is bad" mentality. If it's a really good multiplayer game, it will probably give you more playtime than any single player game.

Also i find that single player campaigns in fps games are really only good for one playthrough, once you know where the enemies will jump out from there's little incentive for me to do it all over again. The halflife games are my only exceptions.

There are other reasons to think it's overpriced (small amount of maps, no map editor), and in general i think $60 is too much for any game, but there's no reason an online only game can't be full priced.

But i've been playing Pc games for years, and find that TRIBES is the best mutiplayer fps ever so my opinion is skewed.

I think its awesome. I don't know what games you like, but I am having a lot of fun with this game. Techs and magic are very very good. Maps are excellent(the ones i've seen so far) and I understand why there are so few. Its not like CS where its a flat plane or maybe two levels. There is a lot of space in the map for stuff to happen.

I did not play in the beta. But the game is fun.
 
Very Early Impressions:

I just finished the first set of tutorials, so this is by no means the last word, but I said wow. Not at the graphics. They aren't bad, imo, but if you didn't like Halo 3 Beta graphics, you probably won't like these. They're sparse.

Anyway, so impressions of essentially the movement, and aiming engines, plus special powers:

Aiming feels a little mushy to me, but that may be me not having found the right sensitivity setting (which can be different for vertical/horizontal), or my general suckage.

Your body has mass and it effects your movement. If you're racing forward and try to radically change your delta, you can feel it.

Teleporting and Gliding are both a blast, and within moments of playing around with them, you will immediately see that they radically change the equation when fighting. Backwards teleporting, teleporting up and down, teleporting while gliding. All amazingly cool.

The enhanced vision is a nice comprimise between Halo3's radar and none at all. You have to switch it on.

Speaking of which, so far the control setups seem nicely thought out. Icons in the corners physically mimicing the layout of the R1/R2/L1/L2 buttons so you can see at a glance what you have mapped to them. The health bar looks like ass.

That's it so far. Going back to play more now.

It looks like review copies weren't sent out, at least to one of the big three. If that's the case, I doubt they sent out any.

I think there may be a Wikipedia entry on how to remove a game from the cellophane packaging, remove the security seal, play the game and then repackage it for redistribution.

I haven't seen it in shops anywhere in the Netherlands today! Then again I was writing a paper most of the time.

How is it? And how much did it cost you?

It has a party system, works rather well from what me and besada saw right there for the first match.

My GT is QVT if anyone wants to have an epic bot match.

:lol For the first time in history I am happy EB sold me a gutted new copy.

I won't be able to play until my little ones crash but I'm going to go through and add some of you folks so that I can get in on the action when I do.

Now to find the NyQuil...

So...once all the dust has settled are we going to get some GAF-only matches going?

I've played online a bunch now...it's fun but they need to do something to help balance the "bad" team of the two (you keep rematching and rematching). More money would help. It seems we get like nothing. You would think they would pad the losers to help us out a bit? :) It also sucks if your team is losing because people will then bail on the match (when enough bail the whole thing resets).

When I played on great teams, it was really fun. It just sucks when the teams are unbalanced. Maybe after 3 losses in a row double the money up or something? Not sure how to fix. I just like to bitch. ;-)

Not that I've noticed. It's hard to pay attention to the teams when you're playing with LIVE randoms. Ya know, now that I think more about it - no. I haven't seen any switcharoos. It was our same sorry team for like 7 matches. It was 6-1...yup. Haha. :lol I was doing the best on the team so I felt bad quitting. The other team (8 people) all had like $3000+ (or more) per match and our guys were hovering around $500 to $2000 (me). You build on what you have, but that still limits you as some magic, etc. is more than $2k/pop.

Its not the graphics that made it look bad, its the art style. I believe its the same though.

I'm playing on an SDTV, and the visuals look the same as the beta. . .I haven't done a match to test and see if the framerate is locked yet.

How does shit like that make it through playtesting?
