Seriously, tone down the accent :/

I'm sure this is the biggest budget game they've ever made, but I imagine it's still way under those of the graphical benchmarks people come to expect. Wages in Japan are lower too, I bet it's less than $10M.Inorigo said:The game is being published by EA. I know they're not exactly Activision, but Suda's probably never even had half the budget they've given him for this.

Garcia Hotspur, a demon hunter whose accent is every bit as ridiculous as his name, travels into Hell to save his girlfriend Paula. It's not a subtle interpretation of Hell, either -- in the demo, Garcia literally enters a building with a giant neon "Welcome to Hell" sign on it. He's joined by a demon who has decided to work on the side of good (or at least Garcia), who manifests as a flaming, floating, inexplicably British skull in cutscenes, and as Garcia's weapons in gameplay. Those weapons include the "boner," a pistol that shoots bones (no, really), a shotgun-type weapon, and a machine gun, neither of which are called the "boner" so I can't remember the exact names. Garcia's jacket (a stylish leather one with "Love will tear us apart" on the sleeves) changes colors to indicate which weapon he's holding. He also carries a gun that shoots light, which has a very specific use.
Also unusual for Suda action games: this level of polish. There didn't seem to be any rough edges in the gameplay -- which, even Suda superfans will admit are usually present. This time, the quirks are all intentional.
With Suda in the role of "executive director," he says that his responsibilities on the game aren't significantly different than they were when he was a "director" on the No More Heroes games. But this is a larger project with a larger staff, so his new title creates room for someone else at Grasshopper to fill the default director role: Massimo Guarini, formerly of Ubisoft. "I think when we're close to the release date, we may have him in the media as well," says Suda. Along those same lines, Mikami serves as the "creative producer" while Joel Wade is the producer at EA.
In our Mikami profile posted earlier this week, he discussed how he thought being a producer was "boring" compared to being a director. So how does he feel about being a "creative producer," as he's credited on Shadows of the Damned? "It's a little more fun than being a normal producer... I get to work more with the development team, so that's the fun part."

Well what happened with Killer 7 then? That game plays like it was designed by aliens who've only watched game trailers.Inorigo said:Told ya. Why hire Shinji Mikami if you don't want him working on the actual design? What, he's gonna sit around the office and tell old stories about making RE1?

That 1up article gets me a little less excited. Has there been any word on if we're getting a demo?

Net_Wrecker said:Let's not forget that RE4 was being developed at around the same time so Mikami was probably JUST a producer on that, and not a "creative producer."
I was just saying his name on it doesn't in of itself mean he's involved, but the 1up thing literally says he is, so that's very nice to know.Net_Wrecker said:Let's not forget that RE4 was being developed at around the same time so Mikami was probably JUST a producer on that, and not a "creative producer."
*shrugs* Videos make the graphics look pretty bad. Maybe it is the "dirty style" or something and it'll look better when the game is in your system...but as it, it doesn't look good at all, IMO.Inorigo said:This post makes it look like you're blind.
Have you seen the trailer from last year? This one is very poor quality, the game looks massively better than any Wii game.Decado said:*shrugs* Videos make the graphics look pretty bad.
