This is one of the very best films of 2011. I was stunned when I saw it at Toronto (review here). With full-frontal nudity from Fassbender AND Mulligan and tons of sex, it will surely by NC-17.

Will see because Fassbender and Mc Queen worked so well together on Hunger.

Mulligan and Fassbender in a sex addiction drama directed by Steve Mc Queen sounds like movie of the decade material. Can't wait to see this.

Really want to see this, but will probably have to wait for it to hit Blu since this will likely just be a NY/LA release.

Yeah, with tons of full frontal nudity this is pretty much NC-17 (although MPAA hasn't weighed in yet). I wish Searchlight had a VOD service, cause this would be perfect for it.

Carey Mulligan reminds me of Katie Holmes. Am I mad? I watched Drive over the weekend and made that comment to my girlfriend, and she said she didn't even see a remote resemblance - mind you, she (and members of her family) think Morris Peterson and Rashard Lewis look alike.

Maybe I'm a racist.

They kinda look similar if you turn your head slightly and squint. Having a few beers beforehand would probably help too.

It is just a UK trailer for now, hence crappy quality and embed.

Fox Searchlight still needs to release their domestic trailer (which will be on iTunes). I'd imagine it is right around the corner.

Hmmmm maybe I was wrong. They do look similar in these pictures.

I was thinking back to Holmes when she was in Batman Begins. She didnt look like Mulligan in that film at least.

For a few months she was getting a box of sex toys and porn every single day to her office.

It talks about how they will rely on critics quotes/etc and won't buy big ads during the first part of its release. It will include a red band trailer during all R-rated films and then it will ride the likely awards it receive and will amp things up down the road.

For the last couple weeks, Carey Mulligan was making the rounds to help publicize her soon-to-be-released film "Shame" before heading off to Australia to work on Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of "The Great Gatsby." In the NC-17 "Shame," directed by Steve McQueen, Mulligan plays the younger sister of a man (Michael Fassbender) with a crippling sex addiction, which seems to be the result of some shared trauma between them. In one particular scene, which audiences seem to respond to as equal parts disturbing and disarming, he discovers her in his apartment using his shower. Her bold refusal to cover up as he talks to her is a signature point in the film.

A few weeks back when Elizabeth Olsen was in Los Angeles for a whirlwind promotional tour for "Martha Marcy May Marlene," the 22-year-old perked up when a conversation turned to the 26-year-old Mulligan. (It should perhaps be noted that both "Martha Marcy May Marlene" and "Shame" are being distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures.)

Is there any shot of this getting a release outside of NY/LA before the end of the year? Martha Marcy hit a bunch of major cities the week after it's NY/LA release, and I'm really hoping Fox Searchlight does the same with this.

It will expand gradually like any other platform release, unless the NY/LA opening is absolutely abysmal (it won't be).

Outside of NY/LA, probably. But not more than 20 markets or so I'd guess.

I have such a huge goddamn crush on Mulligan. I've been looking forward to this film but I had no idea she had full-frontal scenes in it. I'm weirdly ambivalent about it.
