What i can't understand is that there is only 1 copy each, no matter if you pledge 10.000 or 60. And if you pick the physical disc you risk not be playing the game day 1? Thats stupid.

how is it that they still have not added physical+digital tier? i don't think i want to open the ps4 physical copy, plus i doubt it will get to me before the game is released so would be nice to get the digital version. thinking about making another account and pledging just for the digital tier.

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to raise my pledge from $60 to $300. But before I do so, just a quick question, and I apologise if it's been asked multiple times already - is postage and packaging included in that amount? I can't imagine it's going to be cheap to get a box of random crap delivered internationally.

It's $10 shipping that you need to add on top (Europe, here). I think it said so at check out when I backed. Welcome to the 300 tier if you decide to move up!
Edit: oops, I overlooked that this was already answered.

i live in europe too but i was not asked to add anything for the $60 ps4 physical. i did think that was a bit odd.

If you pledge $10k then you are not going to have a problem forking $60 day one.

Do it. I pledge for PC physical and PS4 digital. I have no doubt Sony will release PS4 C.E. but not sure if it's a console bundle or Steel book.

Would it be feasible for them add in a tier to get the game early? Maybe a week ahead of its retail release? That could bump a few pledges up.

Thats most likely how they see it yes. But the problem remains if you pick a disc and have to wait for it arrive
Depends. They could just send the disks in advance but it's inevitable. Other KS might just give you 2 copies. Maybe they can be coerced to do it for higher copies. Who knows.

if add-ons aren't announced i'll likely put together a second account for a $29 digital tier.

i could just buy it on steam when it comes out, but my $29 is going right to yu suzuki damnit.

Pretty sure this has been asked already, but is the only way to get a physical copy of the game to pledge the $60 ahead of time?

A physical copy hasn't been confirmed outside of Kickstarter but it most likely will see a physical release. Benefits of backing now is the exclusive backers only case and more funding going to develop.

Does anyone have $56,301 so we can make the Shenmue III kickstarter reach $5,000,000? That's ALL we need to reach that milestone. Maddening.

What we realistically need and what the team can do to see us reach potential:

- ANNOUNCE ADD-ONS. Or add Physical + Digital tier.
- Announcement of Final Hours Twitch stream with Yu playing his games.
- Add a Stretch Goal at $5.6M for incentive to become most funded game on Kickstarter ever.

I think it'll stop at about $6.2 million. People will try to ensure that there's a nice buffer to prevent trolls from causing it to dip under $6 million at the last second.

I wonder how many million in funding Sega is blocking by not announcing a Shenmue 1&2 remaster before this ends.

$6m would be rather sweet.

Im hoping Sony have secretly agreed to match dollar to dollar

Have you seen how KS funding usually ends? Unless the project is outed as a scam or becomes undesirable, the last 2 days are at least half as good as the first. $6m is a lock, closer to 8 if we're lucky with a good final push. And I know Awesome Japan kinda sucks but they've been doing an okay job after that stream.

10-15k at the most. i don't think there are gangs of people waiting to pull their pledges just to fuck with shenmue fans.

You are most likely right, but i see a lot of first time pledgers on the KS page and i wouldn't be surprise if they all get problems with the bank

That's the last one I'm really keen on. Get to that and I'm happy; anything extra is a bonus.
if a miracle happens, i hope we get the higher ground system stretch goal.

i didn't really get what it was until yu suzuki said it involved using the environments in battle. if we get close maybe they'll just toss it in?

we'll see. if that was the case all KSers with first time backers would be having trouble, and we'd most likely know if it was an issue three years after double fine brought it into the spotlight.

I like how Yu Suzuki keeps tweeting concept art on Twitter.

Kind of strange it's not implemented in to the Kickstarter updates but I find it cool that he's doing his own thing and just working on the game.

First, wow, what an aggressive post. You need to relax a bit.

Anyways, I played Shenmue significantly. I had the best Darts score in my area :)

It was pretty self contained, sure, you can explore the other towns earlier then the story dictated you g there, and there was some mini games and interactions, but most of the game followed a linear progression. If you consider Shenmue open-world, then you need to consider most RPGs open-world. The concept of "open-world" as a genre was popularized by GTA3 and the narrative and definition around it as a genre changed with it.

I'm pointing out the incorrect context of your criticism. Also, this was how Yu perceives open-world in his view irrespective of the definition in the general public. He's requesting funding for Shenmue 3, a sequel which you correctly assert is based on "self-contained" worlds from the previous games. So why on earth would he design something that detriments the pacing previously set-up from his past titles now? The kickstarter basically allows him to continue where in alternative scenario would've been made the way it was intended had SEGA not dropped out of the console race. How you even come to that "open-world" concern, we will never know. It doesn't take a genius to put 2 and 2 together. What we're getting is a perforated view of Shenmue 3 if it doesn't hit the 10 million milestone - nothing more, nothing less.

I am trying to pledge but am having some issues doing so (credit card registered in canada but living in Japan). I know its not much but trying to get 80 dollars in there (will be closer to 100 or more for me with exchange rate fees.) Trying to get that sorted.

I haven't played 1 and 2 but would like to.

good luck on 5 million and above.

That's awesome. Hope it goes through without much trouble.

Funnily enough, I had a dream last night that it was currently at $6.2 million, probably due to a Shenmue 1 & 2 HD spirit bomb drop. I was disappointed when I realised it was just a dream and we were still on $4.8 million. But maybe my dream was a premonition that the Kickstarter will finish at $6.2 million.
