Depends how closely we match bloodstained to see if the same push happens. Currently we are basically trending the same minus 10-20k

They can't really modify the descriptions once people pledge, but you'll be send a survey where you'll state what version you want to receive.

Anything 60$ and over, they will send you a survey asking which you want. PC or PS4, digital or physical.

Man, there's so much confusion here on GAF alone, I can only imagine what people who don't have this resource to ask questions to end up believing about the various tiers and options.
 
So something interesting from Shenmue Dojo:

I asked Cedric Biscay in French if there would be a "last thing" before the end of the KS. He answered me that there is one but he is not sure if he will be able to do it.

So there is one more "epic update" that Cedric previously alluded to. Just a question of whether they can complete, execute and announce it in time. If it is going to happen I would have thought it'd be before the 24 hours remaining mark. Whatever he's pushing for and they're working on; I hope they can do it in time.
 
People bother me with that crap, but I can understand if some random thing came up that necessitated lowering their amount. Of course, to that I say, don't pledge anywhere close to $10k on a videogame unless that feels like a drop in the bucket. Goodness gracious. People!
 
If Yu suzuki managed the Shenmue 3 campaign like IGA did with Bloodstained, probably now it would be at 7 or 8 million $$.

The management of the Shenmue 3 kickstarter has been a little disappointing.
 
Ive upped my pledge from $150 to the next one up ($185).

And Ive created another account to pledge $60 for a PS4 physical copy!

I'm going to *hope* that it's a Shenmue 1&2 HD preorder and that Sega's typical decision making pace is what's delaying the announcement.

Although it's probably a $20,000 tier, where your face is carved into the side of one of the nearby mountains.

I can't imagine being very big, like PS4 retail version. Hope they do it anyway, because it can get some people to pledge.

Yeah I agree. I mean obviously we've spoken at length about how Awesome Japan were too amateur a choice to be handling a Kickstarter of this magnitude but the greater missed opportunity in my eyes is using Yu's legendary status to really push this game. They heavily relied on the Shenmue brand and energetic fan base to carry this thing when imagine if Yu was more involved in this. The man isn't just Shenmue. Far from it. He and Sega pioneered modern 3D gaming with games like Virtua Fighter back in the nineties. Imagine for example (and this is just thinking out loud here) if Yu got more involved and confirmed the arcade games that'd be featured in Shenmue 3.

Something like some classics from the eighties or maybe even just go overboard and it's fucking Virtua Fighter 2 or something like that from his back catalogue. Using the power of his legendary legacy could have worked wonders. It's unfair to a certain extent because he was involved in terms of the many interview sessions, the streams, the AMA and so on; but I do get the feeling Yu made the decision to focus his time on the development of the game and stay mostly behind the scenes whilst Awesome Japan were pretty much solely responsible for carrying the torch this entire time.

Imagine for example if this Kickstarter was planned a little better well in advance. So things like Shenmue 1 and 2 HD already worked out with Sega beforehand and then scheduled to be announced early on in the campaign; or for example a reachable arcade game stretch goal with all the arcade games confirmed (maybe even a poll to vote for which ones we'd like to see?). All of this became virtually impossible in the heat of the campaign because the clock was ticking but couldn't all of this have been worked out in advance to have a stronger campaign and endgame? Parts of this Kickstarter were incredible; like the E3 announcement downing Kickstarter's servers.

Everything since then outside of maybe the PS4 physical version has been frustrating and disappointing for the fans. I'm hoping that given this Kickstarter massively succeeded regardless of these errors YS Net will now find it much easier to secure additional funding over the next twelve months or so. Ending this post on a positive; post-Kickstarter funding in tandem with finding it easier to secure additional investment should theoretically ensure Shenmue 3's final budget is close to the 10 million Yu needs to realise his complete vision. So for that I remain optimistic and thankful.
 
Alright, we are now offically under 48 hours. Reminder mails should be sent by now. If we don't see a hugh bump in the next 4-8 hours (bigger than the last two days) it will end flat.
 
If this has been ran better we would be way above what we are at now ..

One would be sense he's making new arcade games for the game why not push us and the world to give for them something like "OK guys if you do 5M with 8 days left I will ad a Sega rally like arcade game" and so on with a bunch of doffrenr games and if he already got any type of deal with Sega for the arcade games gives us the idea we were helping and oushi g for it by telling g us get us to so so amount and we will have virtua fighter ..

But ya a not late for that here hopping they don't fuck up and add PayPal today so slowly we get to the 10M and get the shenmue he wants to

Whether this hits the world record for most funded game on Kickstarter, it should certainly hit the record for excessive tiers. So glad there's a livestream at least. I can't wait.

Fucking really? This is the most boneheaded move at this point. Statue sounds cool as shit, but we already have more >$1000 rewards than <$1000 rewards. Not to mention, the value on the low end tiers was always a little iffy. Even so, how many whales do they need?

Great post with lots of valid points.

I tend to agree with a lot of what you said. It wasn't that Suzuki wasn't part of this campaign I mean afterall he did Reddit AMA, two Twitter Q&A, Nico Interview and Twitch stream among other things. I think you could critique how he was used.

The Q&A gave some great information but were also limited by the fact without a finalized budget he couldn't always talk in certain terms nor detail about many elements of Shenmue III. How much more attractive would it have been to see a stream of him playing Shenmue 1 & 2 or even some of his arcade classics and provide insight/commentary as he played along.

I also feel they didn't get a true appreciation of stretch goals and how to maximize elements and were caught off guard. A lot of that could be argued down to AJ complete lack of experience.

Nonetheless the community support has been amazing. More than I could have imagined and I'm quietly confident whether it's post KS funding or securing additional support from outside investors, Suzuki will be given enough resources to create a worthy sequel.

They are looking at it wrong they see a high value one and think a few of these will help

When a few new <500 ones would make a bigger move thisisent being run with the right mind set ...

In any case I'm at 580$ can't push my wallet any more I hope we can reach as high as possible
 
Agreed with the sentiments above, btw. Looking back at the BloodStained rewards, there's a lot of missed opportunity here. Simple things like a special cover art for $100+ tier could have taken this thing further. That's just one small example too. Can't really blame AJ for that, it's all on Ys and I think they definitely came to a gunfight with a knife and an un-assembled gun.
 
Oh boy...stop with the new big money pledges...why not try to entice the ~25,000 (almost half the backers) in the $29 level to give $10 or $20 more? Come on.
