SHENMUE 3 kickstarter (PC/PS4) - FINAL DAY - NEW KS RECORD GO GO GO!

Funding seems to be speeding up. Guess the recent update and reminder emails are having an effect. That and the natural exponential increase due to the clock running down. We jumped around 20K in basically an hour which is amazing. The funding total for today should hit more than ~200K which is double what we achieved yesterday. The final two days are going to be really exciting now and the final day in particular will be just madness. Hoping for a Bloodstained-style massive surge.

Looks like I'm free midnight (GMT) for the stream on Saturday so it'll be great to be part of that too.

From the niconico stream interview, Suzuki wants to include a costume change system.

IMPORTANT QUESTION:

Is there a Shenmue 3 announcement reaction compilation video out there? I think we should be tweeting that. I also want it to show my wife if it's out there.

Anyone seen one?

There's like a 10-minute compilation that was posted way earlier in the thread. Can't find it now.

Edit: holy shit.

I like the gametrailers reaction during E3...it was great.

OK, ordered a 2nd copy with a 2nd account. Hopefully I can use the World Telecom card on the digital version.

It's probably a small download code to unlock it. It would be easier to do that rather than do two different versions of the game just to have a small thing.

I was banned, so i couldn't post in these past few weeks, but even lurking here and there, it was so great to see all the love for Shenmue, in this thread.

I backed Shenmue 3 with 60$ but i have a bad feeling about this project, if they have failed to carry out even the kickstarter of a highly anticipated game, development can make water from all sides...

Yes, but it's also important to acknowledge that the development of the game is separate from stuff like Kickstarter management. The 'marketing' and management of stuff like collector's edition, etc, surrounding Arkham Knight was utterly horrible, but the game was still good. Just like how there's a separation of publisher and developer, in this case there is a separation of the ones managing the KS and the ones handling the development.

I'm not saying I have blind faith in Ys Net. They're not SEGA AM2 of 1999/2001. But it's important to look at both sides of the story, and let's be realistic, Ys Net right now is probably scant a few people who will only start hiring en mass once they solidify their full budgeting plan.

It's not the first time a great creator fails on bringing a good game. there are many examples, John Romero with Daikatana, Molineux with Godus, and more recently...reading the previews, Itagaki with Devils Third.

And there's also been great games. There's no such thing as guarantees in game development. Without even going specifically into creators, even "development studios" made up of hundreds of people with a solid track record has guffaws and missteps.

That would be a dissapointing ending for the Shenmue franchise, and even with that...5 million USD is not enough, with this money the game would be only the size of Dobuita, that's 1/3 the size of Shenmue 1.

Shenmue 3 isn't ending the Shenmue story.

And we already know, based off what Suzuki told us, that Shenmue 3 isn't aiming to be as dense of a game anyway. With the 3 settings being rural Chinese locations, depending on how it's fleshed out, there is no need for it to be a big game.

The story's always the more important core driver of the Shenmue experience that's brought to life by its locales. Shenmue wasn't somehow "less Shenmue" in the 3rd act of Shenmue 2 in Guilin, where the game forfeited its "open world" for a walking adventure with Shenhua.

Quick question, I originally backed a lower tier than PS4 physical. I upped it to $200 and then rechose the $185 dollar tier. Do I still get the choice of PS4 physical or back out and repledge the $200.
