First was brilliant, had a great time in the cinema. Think it helped that i was angry that i was being dragged along, after Guy Ritchies latest offerings i had very low expectations.

This one is a must see. Looks cool.

Will there be anymore Sherlock Holmes describing his karate moves in slow motion?

The fight scenes in the movie were normal speed, except when Holmes was planning out his attack. If you watched the movie instead of the trailers, you'd know that.

Trailer came off pretty flat. Just seemed like more of the same with no clear idea what the movie is about. Take some chances, Guy Ritchie.

Really, I thought the first film was a complete dud and even I think this trailer looked awesome....

Haha, I don't think he meant every fight scene was in slow motion.

Looks similar to the first one, and I really enjoyed the first one so woot! Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law work very well together as Sherlock and Watson.

First one was 75% detective, 25% action, which seemed just about right for me. Of course, from the trailers, it looked like the other way around.

I'd expect this one, going by the rules of sequels, to be 60% detective and 40% action. Again, the trailer here shows more like 80% action, but that's marketing...

How do I watch the 1080p trailer without Quicktime player? I have installed the K-Lite Coded Pack. Infact, I just want to be able to download the trailer. Is this possible?

It's been giving a bad URL error.

EDIT: Beaten like a carpet

Basically the first movie wasn't great, but it was pretty good, it was nice to see the characters adapted in a way that actually approximated the original stories (Holmes is an excellent fighter, Watson isn't a bumbler) doubt this one is going to be brilliant but they're certainly not ruining the character or anything.

I like Downey's interpretation of the character a lot, his kind of anti-social almost misanthropy is something that most other media adaptions completely skip, instead just making him the suave genius.

Loved the first movie and this one looks like it's going to be a fun flick to go and see. Day one.

The trailer for the first one made it look like a full on action movie too, hopefully that's the case here as well.

I guess judging by the first movie and the way he acted, I expected Moriarty to look far more sinister.

I guess he is since he's a ginger.

meh the only thing good that came out of Holmes 09 was Hans Zimmer's music score.

His best since MI2 (which was his best since Thin Red Line). Really different stuff from him.

I anxiously await his score for this film.

Sherlock Holmes, now with even more explosions than the first movie.

I'll hold off and Netflix this. It'll be a pleasant time under that condition.

And one of the explosions
the big one at 0:24, opening the movie. You can see a newspaper at 1:01 titled "Horror in Strasbourg"
was filmed in my city, Strasbourg!

The local press made a lot of fuzz about the movie; the place in front of our cathedral was closed, they renovated the "Old" Strasbourg, RDJ was here with his wife... So you can be sure the movie will be a hit here.

I have the complete Jeremy Brett versions of the sherlock holmes stories, and I've never felt the need to watch any other adaptation. And yes, he is definitely physically adept in those stories but he's definitely no action star. I would call it the definitive version but not everyone is looking for the exact same thing in an adaptation.

But I did enjoy the re-imagined BBC version in Sherlock, I thought that was a very good take on it.

The first Sherlock movie was okay though, although very self aware and far too action oriented, but at least it doesn't pretend to be all that faithful to the books and it does open up the books to a new generation of people. It will never be a favourite of mine but it surpassed my expectations because I thought it was going to be utter crap. And yes, the music was pretty damn great as well.

The scope is supposed to be bigger with sequels. Not sure if I got that from the trailer, but I'll be there in the theatre to check it out.

At this point RDJ remains a bigger draw for me than this film series v/s say my anticipation for Iron Man 2 when I was looking forward to the entire package.

Hmm, maybe I will check it out then.

Back during High School I owned this big book of Sherlock Holmes stories and have been a fan ever since. I never got around to watching the movie because I never remembered the books being action oriented with explosions and what not.
