Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed to show his new projects tomorrow

I don't want to make Shikamaru Ninja uneasy so I'll expect some neat educational things or app-like software that makes use of the gamepad rather than something "grand" :-p I know Miyamoto did the Louvre guide recently, for instance. And the WiiU has the PanoramaView software so maybe it'll be something that is "neat" and makes cool use of the gamepad in the same spirit? That's what I'm thinking in my head anyways.

I'm not buying into the hype this time.. Miyamoto is not hands-on like he was back in the 80s and 90s. Luigi's Mansion 2, Steel Diver, and Nintendogs + Cats are all Miyamoto projects even though his involvement in said games was supervisory.

I hope he's taken up an interest in masturbating. Then they can finally bring the Vitality sensor back. Can you imagine jerk off encouragement vids from princess peach, Zelda and Birdo?

After watching MS and EAs bit boring E3 conferences and Sonys in 3.5 hours I really really hope Nintendo makes their Nintendo E3 video as good as possible. And I hope that's highs new game is awesome!

Are you saying Luigi's Mansion 2 was bad? And also what about Pikmin 3? That game was great. Miyamoto still has his design chops, so I'm mildly excited. For me whatever he reveals is a bonus. If it's awesome, great, and if it's casual Wii Music type stuff I won't really care. But I have faith in him

I don't know, the only game that has Miyamoto's mark on Wii U is Pikmin 3. And this is for me the best game on the console. I have every right to be excited for what he will show.

He's mentioned he wants to work on smaller projects with a team of his own. Even said he'd like to create a game all by himself.

So it sounds like hes back into being hands on.

This idea that Miyamoto's been coasting for the last few years needs to go. Yeah, Wii Music was a bit naff, but aside from that, the dude's still got major development chops. The Pikmin franchise is as much his baby as Mario or Zelda, and the third game is easily the best in the franchise. Next Level Games have talked about the amount of supervision that he had over Dark Moon, and it's a considerable amount. He was flipping tables left, right and centre during development of that game. He still has a lot of input in the Mario series, and don't tell me that 3D World is anything less than a phenomenal success.

Miyamoto's no Carmack or Molyneux. He may not be right there in the trenches with the grunts like he was in the old days, but he's still got probably the sharpest eye for game design of any major developer in the industry. This is the guy who pretty much defined how characters control in two dimensions, then went on to define how they move in three dimensions as well. A new game from him shouldn't need to earn its hype.

Maybe one day you will get a Shigeru Miyamoto designed game, but this seems like the typical, general executive manager of 1000 man development force showing games to the press/audience.

It's good for business. Yes Miyamoto approves the concepts, and obviously is the boss and gets to suggest or enforce grand scheme conceptual things, but he isn't a level designer or game director. Not even a direct producer anymore.

Remember when they said, the FilsAMech would be recharged when Nintendo's Digital Event happens

Yup
I would expect him to make an appearance, interrupt the show, and maybe become the host/pull a Kevin Butler

This just looks like Reggie has gone on a pre-show nerves, meth binge around LA and Miyamoto is trying to find him.

When people say "Miyamoto new IP," I don't think they mean he is actually developing the game, but that he came up with the game concept and is supervising the development of the game. At least that is how I always interpreted "Miyamoto new ip."

The true megaton of E3 :)
I wonder what unique experience he will bring us now, dude isn't a legend for nothing.

“Inside our office, I’ve been recently declaring, ‘I’m going to retire, I’m going to retire,’” Miyamoto said through his interpreter. “I’m not saying that I’m going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position.”

“What I really want to do is be in the forefront of game development once again myself,” Miyamoto said. “Probably working on a smaller project with even younger developers. Or I might be interested in making something that I can make myself, by myself. Something really small.”

Sounds like he retired from the "general executive manager of 1000 man development force".

So what about Luigi's Mansion 2? He was checking in on NLG every two weeks, and giving them feedback on everything from control to bosses. That sounds far more involved and being a 'direct producer' to me than just being some vague ideas person.

Haha. Nintendo barely gets 100 man staffs on games.
It's more that he wanted to work with the young blood of the company and spread his wealth of ideas and knowledge.

i really can't wait until nintendo's showing starts.. it's good to feel so hyped for something, few things can make me so

My thoughts exactly, so excited to see what Nintendo has to offer this year. I really hope this miyamoto project is something special.

That certainly doesn't sound like a direct producer, but more like his typical role on many games. Which is okay! There is nothing wrong with that at all. The man is the third highest executive at the company, he really has a much more important role than designing games at this point. People just have to accept there are new names responsible for the things they enjoy in Nintendo's games.

Miyamoto is certainly involved in game making. Hell, even Iwata took a direct role in Brain Age. Let's just keep it real about who is making these games. It's certainly not the 60 year olds anymore. Even back in the 80's, you can read countless interviews on how much Tezuka did on Zelda. We call it Miyamoto's baby, but hell Tezuka actually drew Link's pixel and is supposedly the creator of all the maps. Yet there is no room in the PR world to share credit.

But I just want to see EAD games. New ones. I would never bad mouth Miyamoto, because he is a pioneer, and at the end of the day he green lights if EAD can make a F-Zero or Star Fox. Hopefully some cool stuff. We shall see.

Whenever something leaks before a nintendo accouncement, that's always the announcement. Lanyards revealed Tropical Freeze. Amazon revealed Cranky. Nintendo can't hype anymore, especially with all these mediocre reveals
