I hoped to be proved wrong, but I don't think a big Legend of Zelda reveal/blowout is as sure a bet as everyone expects. My expectations for this thing is low though.

Also, we've seen X three times now so it's not got that fresh and unexpected factor it had before. Looking forward to seeing it more in depth though.

Was going to be at last year's E3.
Was then going to be at NY Comic-con

Both delayed to focus on other projects at the respective things

Aonuma has clearly said it'll be talked about/shown at E3.

It'll happen.

Dat feeling knowing I'll be home after work a few hours before the stream begins.

About Shigeru's game. I feel it's going to have a casual/broad appeal in terms of both gameplay and art, so I'm not very hyped for it.

Well Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, DK etc all fall into that category, so I couldn't disagree with you more. I really hope it's a new IP in that style.

Wait has it been confirmed that they will show ZeldaU today??

Soraya Saga re-tweeted the Nintendo Digital Event. X today!!!!!!!!

Zelda U being revealed in mere hours seems so surreal.

What will the art style be? Will it be young or adult Link? Will it have Ganondorf or a new villain? Will it be voice acted? Will it be open world? SO MUCH TO KNOW
and we will learn so little until next E3 :(

It hit me this morning that oh my god, it's Zelda reveal day! The last one was 4 years ago and the previous one 6 years prior, it's an event in itself!

Best to keep those expectations in check, buddy. This is Nintendo and for all you know, they may have pulled back since then to rework it. Aonuma's a safe hand but Zelda has had it's troubles. Besides, if it does get shown the reveal will be that much sweeter.

Unless ofc if
it is being released on 2014 ;-)

We've seen less than six minutes of insubstantial, vague footage of the game, and this is an incredibly big and ambitious one; in the grand scheme of things, we know absolutely nothing about it. So while it might not be unexpected, I don't think it's any less exciting than when it was first unveiled.

I have a feeling that Zelda WiiU will go down the route that Nintendo has been lately. That route being a 4 player co-op Zelda game. It will have the same style as the 3DS game that just came out , just way more beautiful and bigger. I hope I''m wrong but I can see them doing it. It makes Zelda their hit next year for the whole family , what Mario 3D world did last year, what Smash will do this year, Zelda might do next.

Thoughts if it would be true? I think the disappointment will be crazy but when that settles (like 3D World) people will fall in love. It all depends on the art style.

Then again, they really stressed out so much that the Zelda development cycle needs to be much shorter and around 3 years instead of 5. If I don't see the game this E3, I'm going to assume there's something wrong with the development yeah.

We'll see a new Zelda game (not Hyrule Warriors) at this year's E3. I think that is a guarantee at this point.

The question we need to ask is: will the new Zelda reveal live up to the fans' expectations? We know that Zelda fans are as bipolar as Final Fantasy fans lol.

Except ALBW didn't really set the world on fire. If they are looking for big sales they need look no further than OOT3d outselling ALBW and TP outselling every non OOT zelda made since the 80s. The opposite is true with Mario, where the simple throwback games have always sold better, which isn't true of zelda.

this is almost my worst-case-scenario, and sadly it's not impossible, haha

there's very few ways to disappoint me with a Zelda game, and going all 3D World on it is one of them. I enjoyed 3D World for what it was, as I'd probably enjoy a light hearted multiplayer Zelda, but it was still disappointing in comparison to the standards of traditional 3D Mario entries.

I don't see any chance of this happening. Four Swords Adventure didn't even break 1 million and I've never viewed zelda as a "family" series either.

The thing that's keep spinning my mind about zelda u is that they said few months ago they 'considering top-down view'

That would be a weird decision for a game that's already long in development.

I hope they don't do this. I liked 3D World, but after Galaxy games it was a disappointment and I know I'm not the only one who thinks that. The game wasn't as nearly universally loved as the Galaxies.

Moreover, 3D World was at least still a 3D Mario game. Going all Four Swords for the next major Zelda game would be one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history, people would lose their minds.

Please Nintendo deliver the goods. This E3 has been a bit disappointing for me so far.

This sounds promising.....but so did the other conferences on paper :/

But TP is in many ways an OOT tribute. If they want a big Zelda they should make one like OOT. That's what I expect, a game that looks and plays like OOT and TP, but with ALBW style "non linear" dungeons and maybe some light Dark Souls-esque coop elements.

That would be super ideal.

Something tells me it'll be exactly the opposite of that. :0

totally down for this.

Would be closer to the top than bottom on the desired HD Zelda's list.

Really hoping for a top down adventure with the new Zelda with some high brow evolution of skyward sword/ link to the past art.

But don't worry I don't think it'll happen.

The man utterly ruined the Paper Mario series with his mandates for Sticker Star, so I will always look at his new projects with suspicion from now on. He's past his prime and his team is too afraid to tell him when his ideas and decisions are stupid.

While I'm not hyped (it's been so many years since Miyamoto made a really astounding game) its good for me since if its something just ok I wont be disappointed and if its good I'll be pleasantly surprised, so win-win for me.

At the same time he stopped ALBW from being a game where you play through a ton of super tiny dungeons so I don't think you can just look at it like that.

If it's gonna be online then great!! If not then Ninty hasn't learned a shit.

Pikmin 3 came out last year.

People make mistakes. Just because hes older it doesn't necessarily mean he's out of touch either. Game ideas aren't exactly specific to whats now. Sometimes ideas outside of the box are exactly what a game needs. As much s Nintendo screws up I always like that they do their own thing and don't follow the trends. 3 systems with an overly focused emphasis on games with open worlds/narrative focused just isn't appealing to me. I like diversity.

How about a 3-D Zelda game on TV, and Top Down view/Inventory on gamepad?

Calling it now: It's STEAM, and it's a cartoony co-op first person shooter.

I'd love that, TBH. I've long thought that Nintendo's best route is not to try and compete directly with in-house efforts that clone Sony/MS properties (so, now NintendoZone or Gears of Nintendo) but to tackle those genres from a fresh perspective, with their own for-everyone spin.

Have been severely disappointed by Sony and Microsoft's showing so far, can see little reason for me to buy and ps4 or xbone before 2015. Hope Nintendo can save this e3 for me!

Question btw, why isn't there a Nintendo digital event sticky on the front page like the Sony and ms conferences?

Finally. It's crazy I have to wait Miyamoto to be pleasantly surprised from Nintendo (I'm pretending Wii Music doesn't exist).

Didn't Nintendo say that the upcoming Wii U Zelda will have the largest budget of any Nintendo game in history; around $100 million USD? Also, didn't they make parallel comparisons to wanting it to be epic like Skyrim?
