Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey official for US

It's that Shin Megami Tensei aren't all on the same line of text like Nocturne or Persona 3 and 4. It looks like
Shin Megami
TENSEI
Now that you've mentioned it I can't unsee it.
It's like Shin Megami: Tensei: Strange Journey

Disliking the logo... and where is the SMT star?

Most like the spine, maybe the back too.

I've got a question for JP import people. What exactly do you think would make this game M-rated? Mara or is there other stuff too?

http://www.siliconera.com/2009/12/0...journey-joins-elite-club-of-m-rated-ds-games/

If it's story spoilers, then I can hold off. Just like the article mentions, not many M-rated DS games out there!

People dying, silent hill-ish hellish imagry in tiny pixel format, religious stuff? It's not sexual content and it's not language. So it has to be the ERSB having a problem with the violence level.

I missed out on Strange Journey when it hit in Japan because of a plethora of other games, so I'm definitely going to pick up the US version. This is going to be my first English SMT game since Nocturne...

It really does not take much for the ESRB to slap the sexual content warning on a game.

The descriptors we got were Blood, Fantasy Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes. Devil Survivor, by contrast, got a Teen for Fantasy Violence, Language, Mild Blood, Partial Nudity.

Sexual themes bumped it on up!

So basically, Mara single-handingly makes a Teen rating into a M rating.

It's hard to see very well, but it looks like the passwords use some non-standard characters? That doesn't seem very conducive to sharing at all, especially online.

maybe Artemis is the one to blame, I mean, bitch has like 26 tits. Or Angel with a BDSM suit. Perhaps incubus with its penis-horn.

Looks like many of them are just regular letters and numbers but flipped horizontally. Still dumb nonetheless.

I love you Atlus! Cant wait. I'm still trying figure out why these dont display pictures in my email anymore, avg did something.

Atlus did a press demo this morning. Nothing new for the import crowd, but it was a great chance to see the game in English. Nich and the gang's localization work is top-notch, and the gameplay is totally my thing. Can't wait to get more time with the cart.

My preview is here. Not going to do the TLDR here since there isn't any major new news, but take a look if you're interested in knowing more about the game.

Yeah, they are probably trying to avoid the slaughter from Final Fantasy. It was hinted, but they wouldn't confirm, that the 2-week bump will also come with an "Atlus Faithful" bonus thrown in the package.

Some sort of official announcement of the new date is supposed to come out later this week.

I don't know why. According to e-lore, most SMT fanboys brag about how much they think FF sucks, so I doubt the same people who care only about mainstream titles would decide not to buy SJ because of FF13. In fact, it's almost insulting. Most of them don't even know what SMT is. No self-respecting (American) SMT fanboy would choose FF13 over SJ or P3P(lol). Oh, well..another reason to pre-hate FF13. :)

Now watch as Nintendo announces Pokemon Gold/Silver for March 23rd.

EDIT: Nevermind, Amazon seems to have Gold/Silver listed for the 14th. I guess that's why the game is delayed 2 weeks rather than 1 :lol

Wow I guess Im late to this thread but since every launch copy is coming with the soundtrack CD, I guess I am forced to purchase on release date yet again. Another CD to add to my collection !

Oh, well....I guess that means no soundtrack for me. I'll probably be busy with other games, that I do not have to import, when ST comes out in march.
Or maybe I'll just pre-order it anyway...

Well it says launch, but as far as I'm aware none of the Atlus DS games that were packaged with CDs at launch have ever had any copies without them.

Back of the CD case in the picture only lists ten tracks.
Ugh, I hope not. The actual soundtrack in Japan is only one disc. That would be a really nonsensical move on Atlus' part.

NichM, where art thou?

It's usually impossible to give away full soundtracks in one region that are on sale in another, for fairly obvious reasons. We were operating on the assumption that it's better to get something than nothing.

Yes it is!

Ah, I was afraid that was the reasoning, though it's understandable. I was going to bring up Persona PSP's soundtrack, but I guess that was not released for sale in Japan.

Thanks for the response.

As someone who really loved the lack of random battles and the ability to save during battle (and reload that save infinitely) in Devil Survivor, am I going to find Strange Journey's battle system to be an annoying step backwards?

I must confess that the random battles in Persona often tempt me to fling my PSP out the window when I'm already wandering around a dungeon lost and confused.

All that means is that if there is ever a second printing, there won't be CDs. And there is rarely a second printing. Only Nocturne I can think of off that bat had one.

I couldn't get into Devil Survivor, at all. :/
That Weindingo boss is when I gave up. I have to grind endlessly? Seriously?

I'll probably check this out, mostly because it's sci-fi. I gotta really finish Persona 4 though. :lol

Ehn, as in 99% of the cases where people complain about having to grind, if your strategy is good, you don't need to grind. At all.

I bought whatever was available for the three members at the auction. All of a sudden I get to that battle, have five enemies to try to take out ALONG with that dude, put the game down and haven't touched it since.

It's not the fact that the battle is hard, just unfair to have you get your ass kicked hard despite buying some demon's you think were "okay" in the first fight. :/
