shitty tv shows that you can't stop watching

Dexter. For the past few seasons, at least.

Other than that, I don't watch bad television shows. My time's too valuable to waste on crap like that.
 
I used to watch Grey's Anatomy because my parents had it on every week. There were a few characters I actually liked and I watched it hoping for some closure in their story-arcs. Eventually I realized none of them will ever be happy. I finally stopped caring about a year and a half ago and haven't watched it since.

I watched Heroes for awhile just because I think Sendhil Ramamurthy is freaking gorgeous. I've even watched a few episodes of Covert Affairs for him.
 
The Unit was my guilty pleasure. Normally wouldn't watch something that was america fuck yea but something about that show had me hooked.
 
Last winter there were a few weeks where I was constantly watching Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on netflix. No fuckin idea why, but I couldn't get enough of it. Ridiculously formulaic, though.
 
Jersey Shore. I like it, sue me.

The Office. Too invested in the characters to ever stop watching, really.

The Voice. yadda yadda talent show. It's pretty enjoyable so far.
 
Twin Peaks Season 2. The first season was so good I want it to magically return to form and, 11 or so episodes in, it just...it just....man. Gotta keep watching but it really is a train wreck that won't stop crashing. It's fucking Lost all over again post season 2. The more potential you got, the harder it is you fall.

Wipeout and Cops are my only real occasional guilty pleasures.
 
I dont catch them week to week but I often cant resist marathons of Jersey Shore and Americas Next top Model whenever I happen upon them. I also watch the Apprentice which Im secretly ashamed of. Its hard to take Trump seriously given his antics a few months ago. But I keep telling myself Im not watching for him. Which Im not... but I still feel icky.
 
Felt like I had to watch Hellcats because I'm fascinated by Alyson Michalka. Now I'm kind of sad it didn't get picked up for a second season.

All these shows ended a while ago (Scrubs ended at Season 8 as far as I'm concerned) but I still see them in syndication while flipping through channels and I just can't help but watch.

Bill O Reilly and Hannity. Glenn beck is ok too if I'm in a tin foil hat mood.

It's not that I like what they have to say as much as a curious intrigue in examining a train wreck.

Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, American Pickers: the history of the shit they find is interesting even if the "characters" are blah. Will usually catch these during marathons that last all day. Typically will not actively seek these out.

Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch : Used to actively build them into my week and watch them brand new. Now will typically just catch and odd episode here and there or marathon DJ on netflix if nothing good is on. Like it for "the characters" in mike rowe and the crews of the ships

Whale wars I don't agree with either side and think both the "research" whalers and the sea shepherds should go to jail... Watch it mostly for the lulz as they attempt to make every possible thing dramatic no matter how small the problem is... I honestly feel ashamed that i watch this... but i do

EDIT: I used the definition of "shitty shows" and ones that when i told my coworkers/classmates had them go "Why the fuck you watch that". They like Big Bang theory, 2 and a half men, jersey shore etc so listing those here while is considered weird but wouldnt register as anything strange to them..

Warehouse 13

I tell everyone that it's not a very good show...yet I can't stop watching.

Then they watch an episode and they agree...not good, but now they're hooked too.

So they must be doing something right because it's the network's highest rated show. I think it's because even if the plots are kinda iffy and the effects are horrendous, the enthusiasm the characters and their actors have is infectious.
 
OH yeah i watch Eureka as well though i tend to wait for dvds then marathon those...

Man Versus Food is another i watch but i regret nothing

Entourage. Final Season, fewer episodes. So I'll knowingly watch it to see the resolution and then invariably complain that the show is just too "serious" now.
 
Holy shit was V so bad that no one even watched it for the lulz? I recorded every episode and couldn't explain to anyone, even myself, why i'd watch it.
 
I watched every episode of The Event. It was terrible, and I loved it.

I also really enjoy Warehouse 13. It's stupid as hell, but I just love the chemistry between all of the actors (the leads in particular).

Smallville. I do not how I ended up sticking with that show, or why I watched it religiously. I saw so many faults, but it was Smallville! What other reasons did I need?

This fucking show.

And not just because it's shitty (though that's more than enough reason). The show last season also started to deliver contradictory messages, i.e. PRAISE DIFFERENCES, unless you're bisexual; SING ABOUT DIFFERENCES, but censor the LGTB verse in Born This Way.

It really became an abhorrent show (led by an abhorrent creator). I really hope they kill off Santana and Brittany because those two were the reason I continued suffering on a weekly basis.


P.S. I'd like to mention Cougar Town here because that started off as my guilty pleasure but it somehow miraculously evolved into a really good show. First time I've seen that happen.

Overrated motherf.... I swear. Ill watch it because its ok TV, and because it airs during the summer when there aint shit else to DVR but MadMen basically. BB season 1 was great, the show coasted the last two seasons though hardcore. The twin terminators last season were straight comic book bullshit. You couldnt have force more cliche into those two if you tried.

It was never meant to be taken completely seriously. There's a lot of comedy in it. It's an awesome show.
 
For some reason i couldnt stop watching Smallville. I stopped watching the whole last season s (8-9-10). But sometimes i would download an episode i found interesting (appearances by Justice League and other DC heroes). I even watched the series finale just to see Clark finally being Superman. But damn this show is bad.
 
The Mentalist would have made this list (for me) if it were not for the season 3 finale. Now I can't wait to see where this show is heading. Suddenly awesome again!

I can't sit and pay attention to a show that often, so ESPN is on a lot. I wish I could just get sports scores and highlights without all the horseshit on that channel. Have you seen those studios? And former pro athletes have no place in a journalism environment; give me something worthwhile if you give me anything but scores and highlights. Thankfully I'm doing better with being able to watch a story and am thus watching better tv.
