Short demonstration of Wii U's April 2013 update

It looks like the Wii U menu has too many prompts. After you press the home button it asks you twice, if you want to close the darn software. People aren't idiots, they know they are pressing a home button.

You don't see the "Close this software and return to the Wii U menu" prompts in every Wii U game.
And don't understimate people's "idiocy" "I want to change the controllers settings.... Oh shit!!! I hit the close software button"

Don't know why it bothers you so much tho. I takes like half a second to choose the "Wii U Menu" option.

For their next video they need to show the download and install of the update taking an amount of time comparable to everyone else instead of being roughly ten times slower.

well at least for me the WiiU is not slower than my 360. My 360 (I booted it up the first time this year recently) had a system update, it was no dashboard update so I don't think it was very big, and at the same time (actually a minute later) my WiiU donloaded a 150mb update for NFSMWU and the download plus install was still earlier finished than the 360 update

the chimey bell thing at 40 seconds is the thing that annoys me, ever since watching a livestream of that guy who got his early, and it was that chime for like an hour straight :p

oh gawd, I remember that! Highly trollish that dude IIRC.

Caught Iwata's announcement on Miiverse as well. Very cool news indeed. ;)

Why? Both the 360 and PS3 interface received multiple iterations, addressing both speed and cosmetics, over the life of those platforms.

Just because someone else did it doesn't make it excusable.

And besides the degree to which the Wii U's OS force players to sit through much longer load times is a lot larger than the 360 or PS3's vanilla OSes did.

Was about to post that. Yep, it's not bad at all. Hopefully they'll still be able to shave some seconds off with the next update over the summer though. The faster the better.

They almost shouldn't have released this video because it's embarrassing how bad it was before. Can't believe they launched a product like that.

hope 3ds gets a similar patch. Takes way fucking too long to do anything. Even going to notifications takes like half a min.

i just counted them time it took my 3ds to load the notifications menu (and update list)... it took just under 5 seconds.

Only thing that is really noticeably slow is opening up the eshop (at least of the apps i opened)

i always knew going back to the wii u os took a little while, but i think i became adjusted to it...seeing this though it makes me wonder how they could have released it in such a state.

There's supposed to be another update in the summer so i wonder if that will have give it another big jump.

I thought the summer update is supposed to be the bigger of the two.

Unfortunately the 360 dashboard updates are nothing like they used to be. They used to be tiny updates that only seemed to update specific files. Nowadays you seem to be downloading the entire firmware each time - every single dashboard update takes many times longer than they used too.

Where is my goddamn ND, Nintendo? :(
It's April already :(

it's coming... It will be here at any time!
