Should Anakin Skywalker be recast for Episode VII?

Are you sure you watched Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi? Dead Obi Wan not only tells Luke to seek out Yoda in the Degobah System but he also walks around as a force ghost and hangs out with him and yoda and at the end of ROTJ he's back with Yoda AND anakin

Again, those are like, what, two shots in the whole movie? Seriously, go watch the original trilogy again. The roles might have major plot implications, but they're incredibly small roles. Dead Ben doesn't even show up in the first movie (only voiceover).

Anakin will not be in the new movies. And there's no need to recast Luke.

Only in the depths of my heart was it canon. Make no mistake, I'm going to be in line for the first showing, unless it's EPISODE VII JAR JAR BINKS AND EWOKS HAVE A TREETOP PARTY.

If it makes you feel better Disney will probably do an animated movie for those kind of like how DC and Marvel do animated films for some of their comic storylines.

No. Episodes 7 - 9 already exist in the form of:

Anakin does not make an appearance. He's dead.

Get that non-canon blandness out of this thread!

Reboot the whole thing. Call it "The Star Wars" Set it in a different galaxy but still far, far away. Keep the force and Jedi etc but no Greedos shooting first and no jarjars. Oh and get some more slave Leahs in

Is Billy Dee Williams still alive? Lando could be running a casino or something in space. Then some Han Solo-ish character tries to pull a oceans 12 gig on him.

Now that I think about it, Star Wars would be a perfect vehicle new Disney Chanel shows.

That's so Calrissian.

Jedi's of Mos Eisley Place.

Clone Farm.

They should go back to original title Lucas wanted to call it:

From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker: The Journal of the Whills Book 1: The Star Wars

How about we don't use any of the previous main characters at all and actually move the series forward?

New filmmakers, new actors, new stories.

:lol

No way in a million years is this happening. Disney-Lucasfilm has already been talking about preserving the characters and we know that Episodes VII-IX are direct sequels to Return of the Jedi.

Yes, absolutely! I may be down for a KOTOR based, Non Lucas Directed series of films. Let Joss Whedon have a go at it.

Nah, keep Whedon out of this. Avengers was bland enough, and I don't want any comic book or boom-splosion version of Star Wars, we've had that and it sucked.

I'd like to see what Cuaron could do, or maybe an old school guy like Ridley Scott. They could let Whedon write or something, I might support that, but he's only one step away from James Cameron to me.

What the fuck could he say to Luke as a ghost? About how much of a dumbass he was when he was a whiny jedi knight? Fuck Anakin. If anything the only ghosts that could actually provide some sort of guidance would be Obi-Wan and Yoda.

Lando was Leroy Jethro Gibbs' namesake last night on NCIS. True story. And let the record show, Ocean's 12 did not have a casino heist, but it did have a lookie-loo with a bundle of joy.

Are these films going to include that many established characters? Even if they do I don't give a shit who they cast. We're not casting King fucking Lear.

They should remake the entire motherfucker. Shit's FUBAR.

Sadly, it's to the point where as long they make the originals available again I almost don't care what else they do with it.

Episode 7 is after 6 no? Isnt he dead at that point?

Real question is, do you bring back Mark Hamill or recast.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind him as a wise old sage, leaving the action to someone new.

I'm fine with Hayden. Guy gets too much shit. He's a good actor. It's hard to show that you're a good actor with a bad script and bad direction. Natalie's acting was fucking awful and she went on to win an Academy Award. I'm not saying Hayden is as good as she is, or that he's had anything remotely impressive lately, but he has had better roles where he actually does act very well, and I thought he did have some good scenes in Episode III.

With a different director and assuming he would just be in "ghost form" or whatever, I'm sure he'd be just fine and the continuity would be there. That being said, I doubt he would come back anyway.

CGI Sebastian Shaw

I'll accept a time jump if there's at least Ghost Luke. I'd rather have living Luke & co but these movie studios don't wait to put things together properly.

Wouldn't Luke Skywalker essentially become the Yoda of his time? I'm guessing Mark Hamill returns but not a whole lot of others from the original cast... maybe Leia or Han. All old of course.

That moment more than anything in the Prequel Trilogy I truly hated. Look at his smug face. UGH. Also it makes no sense. Why is Obi-Wan still an old man but Anakin got to be young again?
They goofed up.

It's supposedly Anakin before he gave in to the Dark side, but it completely ignores that old Anakin's redemption. Also, he never does the training to become a Force ghost. retcons galore

And if they go along with Ghost Luke like in the Legacy comic, he will be depicted as young too.
