Should i bother returning to Magic the Gathering Online?

Had this game for a few months when it first came out, mostly traded for cards and havent touched it since. I forget how to access my old account but I'm curious about starting over.

How has it progressed? Are the newer card sets crap or did they introduce some good game mechanics?

Is Magic still the money sucking pit of depsair it has always been?

I never played MTGO before, but I still play the card game on occasion. The newest set (unless there's been another new one since) is titled Ravnica. They've added quite a few new mechanics to the game (channel, dredge, Convoke, Radiance, and transmute). It also focuses heavily on multi-colored cards and cards that can now be played with more than one color type (for example, some cards have a cost of "red or white").

I just checked and found that their new set, Guildpact, will be coming out near the end of January. As for if you should start playing again...well, Magic definitely becomes a $ and time drain, but it's definitely a lot of fun and is pretty challenging. Have fun. :)

Well, MTGO is in the best state it's ever been right now, they've just introduced true promo cards (Braingeyser is the first and has already been distributed), they've released the full set of Mirage, with the rest of the old sets soon to follow, and version 3.0, which is a massive reworking of the client and a huge upgrade, is on the horizon. The latest set, Ravinca, is fantastic.

Might I ask, what cards you had in your account? Invasion/Planeshift/Apocalypse cards are worth a fortune now, so you could have some valuable stuff. (I sold a Meddling Mage for $55 and Orim's Chant for $89 awhile ago)

I had a few of those. Mostly had the set after that. I just cant remember the answer to my question when trying to get into my old account.

Damn game is too expensive, and my local store is filled with dickheads, so I think I'm gonna go on a longer hiatus.

I used to be so addicted to Magic... around the release of Alliances I was at my worst. Haven't played it seriously in years but occasionally I like to read through the new sets and see where it's going. I like the Legacy format but damn it would be expensive to get back in (because I don't want to play Goblins–I was always a control player). I miss playing my blue/red Browse deck!
