Well,regarding "attention whore":

If you don't spend the money to drive a sports car and make it look like a smart so no one will pay attention to you, then yeah, you're an attention whore.

YOU DRIVE A SPORTS CAR, of COURSE you want attention.
I didn't just buy my car because I like how it drives, I bought it based on looks also.

???

I is confused. "...a smart so no one will pay attention to you?" what does that mean...

Anyway, it was a joke. A badge whore is an attention whore. I just happen to think that a "BMW" gets you the kind of attention that people who are seeking attention actually want to get.

Is he buying used? If so yes. If not then bmw has 4 Years/50,000 Miles Warranty, 4 Years/50,000 Miles Maintenance Program. More money for more power? Up to the buyer I guess...

New BMW 135i = $35,850
New Honda S2000 = $34,995 (and of course he would buy the CR version which has AC/radio...) so $37,995

*unless he lives in a cold place....

Or take a look at the 370z.

And if you're looking at used..... look at the Toyota Supras which range from 20-30k ish

now you're just forcing your argument to work.

First of all a used Honda is as good as new and he can't really buy a new one anymore as they aren't made anymore.

The CR model is a waste of money so lets not consider that even, I don't really think anybody in their right mind would buy one when you could buy a cheaper version and use the money for some really nice mods.

You can buy plenty of low mileage 2007-2008 S2000's for much less than 30K so in terms of price factor S2000 wins.

Free Maintenance of 4/50000 pointless to me IMO because you either lease and get rid of it before bad reliability kicks in or you buy it and deal with it once the warranty runs out which when it does, the real reliability problems become costly.

There is no comparing cost of ownership between a Honda and a BMW.

Last, OP wants an S2000. The guy knows what he wants.

S2000 is the perfect car for a guy who is new into sport cars because it handles extremely well, weighs nothing, and looks great.

Practicality wise the 135i has 2+2 seats going for it but thats only if you really need to drive around your kids/decapitated friends with you.

i also dont know why people are trying to convince the OP to get another car. he wants an s2000. its a good sports car. if he wanted a 370Z, rx8, 135i, etc he'd have said so.

and to whoever asked if he's getting auto or manual...considering honda doesnt make an auto s2000 the answer is clear.

sorry for the typing. posted on samsung impression. slideout qwert ftw!

But the BMW looks too much like business to me, personally. On esthetics I'd pick the Honda as a sportscar and the BMW just as a sporty commuter car. Can't comment on either concerning the handling.

I disagree with the 1 series, yes it has the BMW look as you would expect but it looks much sportier than the others due to the two door coupe design to it. I think it looks a sportier version like an ashton martin as compared to the longer/luxary styling of a 5 or 7 series which are obvious what they are meant for. It's obviously personal preference but I love of the 1 series looks.

I want either a 350z or a 370z but I know I shouldn't. I can definitely pull it off but I don't want to be broke for the next 5 years :(
Also winter would suck ass.

I just hit 1500 miles on my new G37x after having it for 2 months.

I love the Pearl White as well!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this car.... probably more of a sporty-luxury coupe as referenced in there then a sports car....

Cause it does work. You get more bang for your buck. (barebones/stock)

Anyone who drives a sports car knows that used options are not practical anyway. People who buy sports cars are usually light footed and will push the car (tracking or joyrides whatever) so buying a used sports car is just asking for maintained problems. Sports car buyers will push their cars and when they are done pushing it they will sell it. This is basically parallel to letting go of the bmw after the 4 years. Plus the S2000 is a dated car, I agree that is has a timeless look but its dated. Low mileage is a good indicator to look at when you are buying a normal used car like an accord or something but for a sports car; no. There is no major indicator of how the former driver drove the car or how hard he pushed it...

And if OP knew what he wanted then why ask?

If you have to ask, then no. You'd likely only have it as a play thing for a while, and then enter buyers remorse.

WTF, did you just compare the looks of the 1 series to an Aston Martin? :lol

You'll find yourself in the minority with that, as most people think the 1 series looks terrible. The 3 series coupe (as common as it is), shits all over it.

BTW, 5 and 7 series are terrible as far as exterior design goes.

Maybe not the best comparison but what I was trying to say was that it's sporty but also with the look of luxary that BMW goes for with it's cars. An aston has that refined look of luxary you won't see with a ferari or other pure sports cars. What's so bad looking about the 1 series out of curiosity?

Give me a SC300 with a 1JZ twin turbo swap and call it a day.

No it doesn't, even if you show me some math, numbers mean shit. You can't show me a driving experience to dollar ratio on paper.

WTF does this even mean.

So what if he pushed it hard? So he might need new tires and a clutch. What major problems are likely to occur?

I doubt most would be dumb enough to cause engine and transmission damage to their car and those who would are in the minority. The chances of getting a well maintained S2000 are better than not since 30K is alot to money to still fuck up a car.

If he doesn't want dated he can get 2008 the last year model.

You can't assume everyone treats their sport cars like shit and so what if people did redline their cars, the S2000 has a 8000 (or 9000 for AP1) redline for a reason and Honda builds them to reliably do so.

OP does fucking know and he asked if he should do it not if he wanted a BMW so stop pimping your car. [/thread]

Bangle designed the 3 series too and it's almost as ugly as the 1. Especially the interior. No matter how you look at it, it's a step back from the E46.

So much hate in this thread. Sorry the thread title was so generic, but I tried to clarify in the OP. The question was really "should I buy this sports car".

So I did! No regrets. I love it. It really stands out, especially in yellow.

Now I need to learn how to drive it properly.

I'd really like a hardtop.

Good job. You should always ignore others and buy what you want.

You should take some professional lessons.

You're posting pics of the G37S. Your G37x Coupe has a wheel-gap the width of Michael Strahan's teeth gap. Hit up some car forums and either by a set of aftermarket springs, or a set of OEM G37 RWD springs. G37's are too pretty to sit that high. Just do it.

Congrats, dude! If you can swing the dough, Spoon makes the sickest hardtop for the car, followed by Mugen and Honda (they look identical from what I gather).

That's fuckin gross. The back window is all narrow like a Crossfire. Totally ruins the look.

No need to air personal business up in here, but I think I made out OK. It's Honda Certified Pre-Owned and I extended the bumper-to-bumper for 3 years since it was used, as I was a little concerned about buying a used sports car.

More than the hardtop, I really like carbon fiber hood, but if I had to pick, I'd buy the hard top first.

I'm also interested in either newer wheels (like a gunmetal gray or something) or I might look into powder coating them; seems cheaper.

Yes. Buy a Mercedes C Class (or an A4 or 3 series).

edit: ohh nevermind, already got it. Wow nice color, good pick on the yellow.

that stock g37 could still be lower. it aint cool until it's tucking tire

the authentic mugen originals, will cost a lot. the knocks of them sold by a million companies sourcing from some chinese metal casting shed will cost a fair bit less.

Tire tuck is just O.D. sometimes. Less is more, something subtle works. Riding on the floor is just dangerous and asking for trouble over every bump.

Well, I hit a decent amount of speed humps on my commute, so I'm good with my G not being lowered as much as it could despite what some say in here. I still feel like I have a really fun ride...

That's a great Honda!

Yellow is fucking dope. I'm a red man myself and I love seeing completely blinding colors on vehicles. It's pleasing seeing a car in a color like that as I feel the lines of the car are brought out with those types of colors. People immediately think of them as too flashy or that they're a police magnet, who cares, drive it with respect. Love it or hate it? Hell no, it's HOT, plain and simple. Enjoy that ride.

Thanks! I'll try and get some better pics when I get a chance. I ordered some license plate hole filler things. As soon as I got the car I took all the dealer advertisement shit off the car. That left me with four little holes in my front bumper, which is why I'd rather not take pics of the front yet.

If you genuinely enjoy driving, then the answer is easy.

S2000 is a great car. If you're gonna get one, look into getting a Cr. Soooo awesome.

For the price of a new S2000 though, you can get an E46 M3, and well, that's just an even better car.

edit: congrats, it's an awesome car.

Ya I wasnt ready to dive in with a new one yet. Just dipping my toes in at this point

I'd plunge.. ONLY if you're area wont have crap winter weather-- that car is so low to the ground.. I'd be afraid that ice and snow will mess up the car.

Once you really learned when to drive in what gear with the S2000,you'll just love driving it!

Nice buy man, have fun and welcome to the club :D

Noooo this one is 4 years old. The new (and last) one is listed as 34,995. I paid just less than half of that.

heh I wanna go to that dealer. Most of the CPOs I've seen around here are no more than one or two years old and way too expensive.

if you live in California you can get an S2000 cheap as hell on the used market due to the fact that they are popular here and plenty are being unloaded while their owners upgrade to something newer.

I've been seeing them dip into the $12K range now
