should I change my PS4 + PSV for a Switch?

Ps4 has the games now and in the future. get a switch eventually if you want one. now isn't really the time to be trading a Ps4 for one though, especially now..

That's a terrible deal. Good lord. Whether you want your PS4 or not, you'd be getting screwed by this trade.

going nintendo only is probably the worst thing you could do to yourself as a gamer. let the hype with zelda die down for a month or three and make a "sober" assessment

You are letting hype get to you and you're already trying to come up with reasons for it.

Wait a month and see if you still feel the same. No system is ever worth it just for one game.

Really isn't much to play other than Zelda. And won't have much until the end of the year. I'd keep the PS4+Vita and just save a little bit of cash each month til the holidays. There will probably be a bundle then that's worth picking up + several more games that aren't released yet.

Go for it but that's one horrible deal. If you total up the hardware with the memory card, you should be getting a minimum of $300 back.

This is a personal decision. It really boils down to where the games you want to play are. With that said there are still a lot of questions about what sort of games to expect from the Switch so I personally would encourage you to wait a while to see just what sort of games you can expect to play on the system before making it your sole platform for playing games. That said you know you will be getting Nintendo games and if that's enough for you then go right ahead just don't do so based on a single title as no matter how fantastic that title is its own not one Fane abd it will only last you so long. Eventually want something new.

OP you have already had 800 people say this to you but, no.. please GOD no. That is a HORRIBLE trade! There are so many great titles coming to the PS4, persona, shadow of mordor 2, Spider-man and many others out right now. I understand that desire to have the latest piece of electronics I really do but you shouldn't short change yourself, that VITA could be sold on ebay to cover slightly more than half of the switches actual retail cost alone.

If you go through with this you WILL regret it eventually, probably after the hype has died down and you are in drought central with software on the switch.. and probably doubly so around the time something awesome comes to the PS4 that all of GAF is buzzing about.

The biggest issue with the Switch is that you have a very small library (especially compared to PS4) and you won't have any games to play after BOTW. Sure, you can put on BOTW , and you're gonna play it for 30 hours , you know, escape reality for a while, but what happens when the game finishes? Back to reality. Still no other games. Still a limited library. How do you play more? Play BOTW again? Sure, you're gonna love it again. You'll see things you didn't see the first time, it's layered, it was made like that. But, this can't go on indefinitely. All right, at a certain point, you know, after the fifth, sixth, seventh playthrough, your still loving it, but it's not getting to the root of the problem. OK? What do you do? Keep playing BOTW and after your twentyth playthrough the new Mario game should be out.

Go for it OP. BOTW is the peak of gaming, you'll probably quit gaming after this anyway.

Here's the thing. As of now, PS4 and Vita undoubtedly offer more than the Switch today. But, personal preference is also a part of the picture here, and that aspect is completely subjective.

Do you want Switch/Zelda today more than whatever PS4 and Vita are currently offering together? If so, then sure, trade those in for a Switch, but just know going in that you're opting for something with a smaller library along with the promise and potential that it shows down the line. If that's what you want, and understand the drawbacks, then by all means, take the plunge and enjoy it without looking back.

If you're finding it tough to justify though, then wait out on the Switch till Xmas season.

(I'd probably try to get better prices for PS4 and Vita selling it elsewhere though.)

Help gaf, got an opportunity to Change my PS4 500gb slim + PS Vita OLED 64GB memory + 50$ for a Switch

Im not sure If Im caught up in the current hype of Switch and Zelda. I know I would give up a Huge available library for just a few games at the moment. Ive also been all digital and have about 30 digital titles but few I feel I would like to replay anyway

I have been commuting on train 3hours per Day and traveling hotels flights 1 week per month, but changing job now and Will almost only play switch in the home

I like to play on a handheld, makes it feel more personal and individual and immersive. I really like indies, would love to play titles like binding of isac, stardew valley on the switch. Having zelda/mario etc would not hurt either

Grew up with N64 and have much nostalgia for Nintendo, but been a sony gamer since ps2. I have doughters now, oldest 3,5 years. Would feel good to play Nintendo games with them in some years from now

There is no game I really look forward to on ps4,/ ps vita. I pretty much bought ps4 4months ago to play metal gear solid V, street fighter V, some racers.(and loved them all)

Too own both platforms is not an option, I really like to be invested in just one platform (company) at time

Needs to make the decision during today. Decisons decisons. Im never impulse buy anything but this time I really feel like it..

I love the Switch, but damn...that is a lot to give up. So I'm not sure I would do that. Maybe save up until you can get a switch later. I travel a lot too, don't game much at home. So the Switch is beneficial in those situations.

The fact that you travel and you have kids makes me think the Switch would be great for you. My daughter loves Zelda and 1, 2 switch. It helps us have something we share together.

I feel like getting the switch would benefit you later, not now. There are some indies, but it's just starting. Nothing much. You'll be giving up too much with your exhange. It sounds like you used those systems a lot. I'd give up the vita, that PS4 would be hard for me to give up.

I'm going to say something to make your decision harder:

Zelda is freaking great

I could have added that I got the ps4 and vita for incredible good deals, so this trade would mean that I actually pay Another 70$ in total which feels alright. But giving up on 300$ worth of software and wireless headphones.

Think the majority of gaf talkes me to sense, probably better to wait. Ironic I told my wife we are going to the shopping mall today to make her happy (while I just wanted to go there to make the trade) so guess it Will be a long day in the clothes stores instead :x

Still for the Vita having Dangonronpa 2, persona 4 golden unplayed and Will probably buy dangan 3 as well. And get Into terraria and definately Spelunky

See what to do with the ps4, hiding from fetch quests and overbloated open Worlds ^_^

It's your money, do what you want, but this sounds like a really bad idea to me, if for no other reason than you're giving up SO MUCH just to get your hands on a Switch. And it sounds like you don't even care that much about the main reasons to own a Switch this year (Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, Mario Kart). Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ and Stardew Valley are both available on PS4 and (unless I'm missing something) should be playable via Remote Play on Vita. What do you gain from buying a Switch to play those same games, especially when you've said you intend to play in handheld mode but mostly at home?

By all means sell the Vita. What are you waiting for?

Seriously, buy the Switch but keep the PS4 for the mainstream, casual stuff.

Don't do it!

Just save up and wait to get a Switch. The PS4 has a lot of life left in it, and the Vita has some great games you might regret not being able to play in the future.

The library of the PS4 + PS Vita is just too good to give up for one Zelda. That's coming from someone who really wants a Switch.

Edit: You're making the right choice! You'll be happy when you have all three systems in the future.

That's not an opportunity, that's a scam.

You'd be much better off selling the systems on ebay.

Though I'd never recommend selling video game systems. You'll probably end up missing them.
Lol so this. This person or store or whatever is ripping u off. Oled vita / vita it self is becoming a rare. And ps4 have a huge library and soms are coming as well. I dont believe the part where u said there is nothing u want on a ps4 . I mean u just said u like racers and gt sports coming this year. I think you are just hyped about switch you started to feel you dont want anything else on any other system but you will honestly regret it.

I have a switch and i am in love with it. But it lack games very badly. 1 month or from now you will finish zelda and then you will play mario kart then whAt ? If mario didnt get delayed like most nintendo games are, the next big game is not happening before the end of the year.

Dont do it. Wait for the switch. You can sell your headset and your current games towards a switch . But dont sell friggin 2 consoles for one that lack games in the time being

"I'm not interested in any PS4 games"

"Yeah. You should get a Pro, though."

Jesus Christ, GAF.

I said down the line ;)

I dunno, Playstations make much more versatile media boxes than Nintendo's offerings. Blurays, netflix, etc. I'd keep it around, personally.

You might as well go buy Horizon Zero Dawn, its a Open World game done right!

Me personally i'd never trade in my ps4/vita for a Switch just for Zelda, its practically a wasteland til holiday Mario since nothing else interest for me =/ The system needs way more games to be worth even thinking about trading in so much.

Buy Bloodborne, Nioh, Yakuza 0, NieR: Automata, Gravity Rush 2, The Last Guardian, and Persona 5 when it's out.

Terrible deal, not to mention you're putting $50 on top. You're letting the new hardware hype get to you, I'd recommend giving it a little more time, though it's weird to see you're not looking forward to any PS4 game, considering how varied the ones that have come out and will be coming out soon are.

The switch is going to be suffer the drought that the wiiU has. Depends on whether or not you like not playing games for long stretches.

As much as it seems like a bad deal at face value...the Vita has been readily available brand new at ~120 for quite a long time now, and a Slim PS4 goes for about ~250 new. It's definitely not a good deal by any means, or one I'd still take, but I don't know if it's necessarily highway robbery or anything.

This is a horrible idea, and the "only get invested in one company" argument is the dumbest reasoning possible.

But you more than likely already made your decision and are just looking for validation.

Still dumb though.

Everyone has pointed out that it's a terrible deal, but two things stood out to me. Claiming no games in the future of PS4 interest you is a bit asinine, because there are so many games we don't even know about and many which are in line with what you seem to enjoy.

More importantly though you said you have two daughters, but getting a Switch just for Zelda doesn't seem like they'd actually have anything to play with you. Unless you just mean "for them to watch". I think having two systems in this case would make way more sense for their sake.

However, if you're still trying to convince yourself that all you need is Zelda for the rest of the year you're much better off finding a good deal. This exchange you seem to have found is a total scam. Almost as bad as being convinced you can only play games from one company at a time...

What the fuck? On the lower end we have:

Used PS4 - $190
Used Vita - $100
Memory card - $85
$50 - $50

It would be worth it for me just to read about your regret, but if I were you? Fuck no. And that's not even getting into the regret you'd feel once you compared the library of games which somehow I guess is not a factor to you?

If you're adamant tell them to drop the memory card and sell that yourself separately, but I still think you'd regret it.

64GB card is another $100. I wouldn't do that deal for anything less than a Switch +$100 in cash considering used values.

I'd say go for it, but try to get a better deal.

You're basically giving around $400 for a $300 Switch. If it included Zelda and a case or something it would be better.

I'd argue that Zelda is a system seller with a metacritic of 98 so the Switch can definitely be worth it for many.
I'd argue that no system is worth one game, no matter how good Zelda is, it's not worth getting rid of all that stuff for a switch plus knowing Nintendo there will be multiple droughts of software. Fall might be the right time to get a switch

To be honest I would sell the Vita because Sony has left it to die.

Even if you don't play much on your PS4 just keep it.
I wouldn't, the vita still has tons of good stuff to play

Who'll want to get ride of his PS4 for a Switch ? especially now that Sony is on fire and the Switch only have Zelda for months, doesn't make any sense to me.

Horrible trade. Don't do it. If you're done with your Sony gear, sell it off first, then buy a Switch. You'll save a lot of money that way.

Putting the value of what had been offered to you aside, why do you want to be 'invested' in one company at a time?

These people are not your friends, they may put out games of varying quality that we love or get disappointed by, but you aren't cheating on Nintendo by not getting a Switch right now.

They won't mind if you wait.

NOPE I'm a big fan of the Switch but it's gonna be until at least 2018 before it has a solid library with a steady stream of new titles, meanwhile I'm drowning in amazing PS4 games right now.

Do I think it is a good idea? Absolutely not. The Switch won't have as many great games come out on it in the next year as the PS4 had release in the last month (maybe two years).

That being said, you clearly desperately want one, so just pick one up. If you can't afford it, then do the trade. I mean, if a Switch is what you want then it is what you want...
