Should I watch Twin Peaks, Zach?

People saying season 2 sucked are misleading the OP - the last arc of that season and the finale itself redeems most of the weird plots that came before it by a good margin. The finale is as good as that show ever got if you ask a real TP fan.

I was actually a bit hesitant about watching it at first, but then my brother who was at least at one point bordering to obsessed with it, went to visit the place and I thought I maybe should give it a try :P

Now I really wish I had taken a look at those areas when I was in Seattle for a month.

Please tell me you people watched that episode of the show "Psych" which was essentially a TP tribute and featured much of the old cast.

The best show, bar none, in my opinion. Back in 2003 when I went to uni the series had achieved a fairly talismanic quality in my mind. I was obsessed with David Lynch and the show had yet to be released on DVD (maybe the first season had). Anyway as it turned out the local video show in the town where I went to uni had all of it on VHS. I binge rented that motherfucker and had to watch it in the halls of residence common room because there was no other VCRs available anymore. I rented so much, so quickly the guy in the store said he was considering cutting me off as no one should be exposed to that much Lynch that quickly. No regrets.

I watched the entire first and second season of Twin Peaks after I played Alan Wake (which is one of my favorite games). A lot of people recommended it if I liked Wake but I guess I just never understood the show or could get into it.

Wasn't the show canned? Does it even have a proper conclusion to the story arc? main reason I never started deadwood. I can't stomach a show that has no proper ending.

It's David Lynch.

It was never going to have a proper ending.

The last episode is one of the greatest (also probably the scariest) episodes of TV ever though, so...

If anything, it's the opposite. The big mystery of the show is revealed partway though the second season, and the episodes after that are basically filler.

Well, I finished Season 1, it was alright. I still don't get why people foam over the mouth at the show. Will start watching Season 2 soon but so far the show hasn't really grabbed me.

Trust me. Don't watch anything past the first 2-3 episodes of S2. It's so so fucking bad. So many dumb story arcs. Such stupid twists and turns. Such a moronic ending.
???

The final stretch of S2 is the best anything in the ENTIRE series. The series finale was cinematic gold.

I'm five episodes in and watching it for the first time, and I LOVE IT.

Don't understand the love for the finale of season 2. Perhaps I had just lost interest once it started going downhill midway through the season, but I was pretty underwhelmed. I guess by that point I just didn't care about anything that was happening. Season 1 and the first half of season 2 are so good though.

Well Gaf I'm sorry to say that you were wrong. I finished the series and watched the movie "Fire Walk with Me" and I wasn't impressed, and definitely wouldn't rank it up there as one of the greatest TV series. I mean sure maybe for that time when there weren't things like The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and BSG on, but not now.

So, the first season was alright I didn't care much for the teenage drama and FUCKING IDIOT BIKER POUTY FACE James Hurley, but Cooper was cool and there was some good mystery. As far as the second season the supernatural stuff didn't bother me too much and I actually enjoyed the resolution of the Laura Palmer plotline but everything afterwards just sucked.

Also, why did they just character assassinate the majority of the other characters in the second season? Fucking weirdo, independent girl Audrey who knows her father is a scumbag all of a sudden wants to work for her father and gain his love. Audery's father who is a piece of shit and is complicit in several murders including attempts is suddenly given an arc where we are supposed to somehow sympathize with him. Bobby, another piece of shit as well as a murderer and drug dealer is also given a more sympathetic side. Cooper slowly becomes more of an idiot, Josie turns out to be a murderer who gets trapped in the Black Lodge, etc.

And then, it all ends on a stupid cliffhanger as Coop gets trapped in the Lodge and an evil version of himself comes out. Plus, the Fire Walk with Me movie is pointless since the majority of the movie simply shows us stuff we already know while at the same time bringing new mysteries it has no intention of solving. Dumb.

Also, why the fuck don't we ever get to see Diane?

Season 1 = Godlike
First few episodes of Season 2 = Godlike

Rest of season = Dogshit. Even the actors fully agree. You know it's horrendous when even the people involved badmouth it.

I refuse to call it an ending.
Don't watch this show, it's as great as it is bad. I'm still mad about the final scene.

So I've got 2 episodes left, should I even bother finishing? I've had to force myself to watch most of S2 after powering through and enjoying S1 over a weekend.

The last 20 minutes of the last episode of season 2 are really all you need from season 2. Just amazing.

I never understood season 2, don't remember it now, but by god the last 20 minutes of the final episode are burned in my memory forever.

Yes the final episode has some of the best moments in the entire show. And if you made it this far, why stop?

I dont understand the hate about the ending, it was absoultely mind blowing, I still love twin peaks mostly because of it.
but I agree, that apart from the final episode. the latter half of the second season had too many really, really bad side stories. the second season should have been half as long.

but all in all, I still love and recommend twin peaks as one of the best tv shows ever.
