Should Nintendo buy Panic Button?

I picked up the Doom games on Switch during the big sale going on and loaded up 2017 on my Switch Lite tonight and was floored. Panic Button are sorcerers porting that game to the hardware. On the small screen it looks and runs amazing for what it is.

They're very close with Nintendo and have been able to create miracles on the Nvidia hardware, they could be a new Factor 5 for Nintendo. Should they be an acquisition target?

I don't keep too up to date on acquisitions, has Nintendo even bought any studios in the current Cold War between Sony and Microsoft, or is like a "but wouldn't this be a great place to start if they did!" ?

Also, read the title initially as "should Nintendo push the panic button," and I was like...what's the panic button for Nintendo? Actually making Metroid Prime 4? A console Remake of Ocarina of Time? Hurrah for bad eyes.

They've actually come out and specifically said they are not interested in acquisitions as they wish to retain their core culture.

They last acquired Next Level Games IIRC so it's not out of the realm of possibility but highly unlikely.

Only ports I've played are Rocket League and Apex.

Rocket League is a pretty bad port IMO. I still primarily play on my Switch now. But the resolution is pretty bad. That being said, it might just be the game itself as the Xbox Series S 120 fps patch provides equally rough resolution.

Apex is appalling, but maybe the port should never have been commissioned due to the lack of power in the hardware.

You really need to try the ID Tech ports. In handheld mode they're mind blowing with what they pulled off.

Haha well a OOT remake WAS their panic button for 3DS.

Don't know if they have to buy them, with Next Level Games they did a good deal for sure, but were trusted partners for decades.

Anyway, Panic Button are wizards, I bought DooM and Wolfenstein II on Switch and I've been spechless, two of the most amazing porting I've ever seen. I had some flashback of when I was mindblown because I was playing DOOM and Ecks Vs Sever on GBA at school, and playing these games portable on Switch gave me the same vibes after all these years.

Way too early for that. Nintendo only buys the most organic of studios. Next on the list should be Grezzo and Mercury Steam.

Panic Button passed the test on porting. Next is a remake. Then an original game, or 3. Then acquisition if they work well together.

I got Doom on Switch specifically to play with gyro controls. Was well worth it. Only way to really play on consoles.

They can acquire all the mobile developers they want. Just keep them away from X86 developers whose games would then be lost to mobile tech.

How do they not own Grezzo yet!? Need to get that tied up ASAP.
