Should PlayStation reboot KillZone and Resistance ?

Shadow fall had some good ideas and cool level ideas but fell down in AI, triggering events, and some of the mechanics. I enjoyed parts but some areas were frustrating. Similar to all killzone games. Series has lots of room to continue development, I like the overarching story but characters have been not great , thought shadow fall did a better job on developing interesting characters.

Idk, I liked the Killzone strory. Except the ending in the last one.. But the story about the Helghast and their history.. I actually thought it was enjoyable. No reboot please

Idk what resistance is so can't comment

Killzone was always mediocre. I'm stunned we got shadowfall to be honest. The studio is technical sound, but they're not producing the goods.
Resistance got a soft reboot with number 3 and it was the best of the series in my opinion. Unfortunately the damage was done from the second game and 3 bombed as a result.

Would love another resistance, kill zone would have to be completely turned on its head for me to be interested in it now.

As a big Resistance fan and a one-time avid killzone fan, the answer for me is no to both. Create something new.

I honestly couldn't think of anything in gaming I'd rather have less.

They were mostly mediocre, forgettable and completely outclassed by so many other FPS's.

Make a new FPS IP by all means but let these go.

Y'all keep saying that Killzone is mediocre and they should just stop, but then the latest entry goes on and sells over 2.1 million on a platform that just launched. Since Sony doesn't have that many franchises that sell well, I don't see them dropping it.
Resistance could go either way.

Does FPS still have the draw that it once had? Seems like one or two titles dominate that genre and it's risky to try to compete there.

I'm pretty sure ignoring the TLoU(since it's also on the PS3), Killzone Shadowfall is the best selling first party game on the PS4.

I liked Resistance 1 and 3 but I wouldn't mind a reboot. Throw it to a small dev studio, make a small single player campaign and sell it on PSN. Test out the waters.

I'd like to see where the story goes in the next Killzone so I don't really want a complete reboot.

I think they should consider doing the Wolfenstein thing and make an amazing single player experience.

I think they both need a reboot.

Resistance is a good series. R2 had a great Co-op campaign which I enjoyed. They made the mistake of listening to their fans with R2. I remember on the Full Moon Show they said people complained about the weapon wheel and it would be more realistic to only hold 2 weapons. When it came out people complained about no weapon wheel. R2 killed the franchise after the first game was good and the Third was amazing.

Killzone is a good series, good gameplay and amazing graphics but horrible storyline. They need a decent writer for the story and not leave it to graphics to save the game.

Hmm. It doesn't follow the story of Sev though does it?

It follows up on what happened, including with the villain and stuff. It's just that Sev and Rico are never, ever mentioned. Considering what they did to Helghan, they probably flew off to another galaxy.

No way. I loved Shadowfall multiplayer. It's the most fun I've had online with the PS4 by far.

No. Reboot Crash and Tomba. But most especially Tomba.

Fuck, I'd take a remaster of the first two as a collection but damn, they need to start showing some real love to their PS1 franchises instead of giving empty lip service to them all the time.

That doesn't answer the question. It hit the bargain bin pretty quickly.

Had it not been a launch title would it have sold so well? The launch list was pretty lean on high quality titles and I believe that both Battlefield and COD outperformed it in sales.

No, I thought Resistance 1 was good, but not good enough to ever get me to want to play the other games in the series.

I loved Killzone. ShadowFall is a great game and it's surprising to see the hate it gets, but that game was a good way to end the series, I'm about to play the Vita title soon which is another reason why I say no, even though I know i'll like it, I'll have had enough at that point.

If Sony are going to have their own exclusive FPS then they should make something new, start from scratch and let a new studio do it. The problem is that these days it's hard to compete with the likes of COD and BF so the better question is, is it worth it?

They should make a new IP instead. I don't mind a reboot for Killzone though but if they ever think of making one, that game better be as good as Killzone 2.

I have no comment about Resistance since I haven't play any of the franchise.

Give me a Killzone Collection and Resistance Collection all 1080/60 and they can have my money. But leave them to rest for awhile.

KZ2 still looks so good that I really dont see the point in a remaster. Not at this stage.

I always liked KZ - until the PS4 one. It looked gorgeous but it was so dull to play. It was, by all accounts, a fairly dull game yet I couldn't bring myself to complete it.

I'm sure that on some planet, Killzone 1 is considered a good game. But this is Earth.

I actually beat Killzone 1 HD, strangely enough. And nobody made me. I shelved Shadow Fall on my first playthrough at around chapter 5. Only finished it when a friend expressed interest in playing through it months later. Even then, he did most of the playing.

So I guess there was something just a little more compelling about 1.

there's definitely the potential to make an interesting game in the killzone universe, it's just that between some awful narrative and gameplay choices, they're yet to actually do it

i don't think it needs a reboot, it just needs some creativity

I'd pay $40 dollars just for an MGO style, Resistance 1 Online (no campaign) standalone product. But a campaign is probably needed for broader sales.

Let Killzone die already.

Sony does not have a flagship MP shooter, Killzone didn´t do it, and Resistance´s MP is worse. So in terms of MP I would let them rest.

As for SP, look at what Wolfenstein did with the gameplay and story and you could have a big SP reboot for both, maybe add some co-op.

Now, does Sony really need an FPS MP game to compete with Halo? I think not, multiplats cover that pretty well, I would prefer different SP experiences.

Sony did have a flagship MP shooter in Socom but they managed to screw that up. I agree that they shouldn't even try to create FPS MP focus game as the market is flooded with them. They should just rely on 3rd party to fill that void.
