You're welcome to watch this if you think those days are over.Voice acting in the gaming industry is good now. We're past the days of Resident Evil 1, Final Fantasy X, or dare I even say, the CD-i Zelda games. There's no reason to think a company like Nintendo couldn't hire real actors to perform in a Zelda game.
Sound bites? Like conversations in FE:A with one or two words with accompanied text? I'd be fine with that to a degree. Though, I am strict on this. I would still prefer it to have the Japanese VAs speak in Hylian. I actually did like Zelda singing in Skyward Sword.
I definitely see your point with that scene.
But y'know... Zelda OoT exists. What about that potential 201X Zelda game you have yet to experience that soars because of its excellent (voiced) characterization?
I'm certain the voice-acting will be better than Other M, but that doesn't mean it will be good.Metroid had been mistreated by Nintendo for a while now. I think they can learn from that though. Naturally there might be growing pains. Maybe the first voice-acted Zelda game won't sound that great, but they need to start somewhere.
Adam Malkovich is just as boring as Samus.Other than Samus (and that was due to Sakamoto's insistence on her sounding monotone), what's wrong with the voice acting? Obviously the plot sucks.
Citing Other M as an example of why not to include voice acting is kind of silly. Lots of reasons for that game to end up as it did, a combination of using Team Ninja's go to CG/cutscene studio plus poor localization (apparently thanks to Sakamoto) and going "oh, this didn't work well the first time, lets not do it ever" isn't very progressive.
For what they were, Xenoblade, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and W101 all had great VA, and I'm sure after Metroid Other M Nintendo would make sure not to screw up with their big money maker.
If they want to appease the fans, put in a "classic" version which eliminates VA in favor for the normal speech bubbles
Keep link silent, everyone else can talk.

they should go the minimalist route and tell the story though the environments, puzzles, art, etc. no cutscenes. almost no dialogue or text.
Ico and SOTCTo people who are pro a voiced Hylian language, are there any examples of games with good VA for a made up language?

Does Pikmin 3 count? I'm not sure if the actors are actually speaking a made up language but it sure sounds convincing. It's really charming. To people who are pro a voiced Hylian language, are there any examples of games with good VA for a made up language?
Are you implying that a Link voiced by Dan Green would be anything less than the best thing in the history of humankind?Yes, but only if they go all out and actually use real voice actors and not 4kids-level dubbers
