I heard many shit stories about Durham. It sounds like the hoods are worse there than over here.
Yeah that would be cool. I've been here for two years and I still dont really know anyone outside of work. Would be cool to chat with others.Might have to start a DukeGAF.

Which part of Duke do you work for?Yeah that would be cool. I've been here for two years and I still dont really know anyone outside of work. Would be cool to chat with others.
Durham police are awful and the wrong parts of the city are some of the worst I've ever seen. Same can be said for Raleigh. It blows my mind people willingly move here.
I live in Cary and it isn't that expensive. You can get a decent 4-bedroom home for 250-300k.
so have yall treated your taste buds to the delicious beers from Wicked Weed in Asheville? my favorite NC brewery at the moment. their sours are on point.
I hear near south point is pretty nice. I'm probably gonna stay in Cary. But if I was going to live in Durham, then I would probably buy near south point.Nice homes can be had in good areas of Durham for the low 200s.
And I can confirm that Chubby's is AMAZING.

anyone living around lake norman area? just move down here from new york city area

Cool. So basically everyone that works at Duke, works in completely different parts of it.I work at the Lemur Center
don't go to High Point
Maybe a townhouse or the house was built in the 70s to 80s. Housing market sucks here unless you sold your $300k+ house in high cost of living areas like NY or the Bay area and move here with that money. Transplants are just driving up the cost for everyone. I rarely even meet people here that are actually from NC. It's usually from way out west or up north.
All day every day. Amazing stuff. One good thing about this area is the variety of good bottle shops. Sams in Durham has a huge selection of great brews. There is also a small shop whose name escapes me near the farmers market worth checking out.

Hey, are there any good video game stores in the triangle area? Anything that specializes in older games?
The Triangle, and Raleigh especially, is booming right now. Wake County's population is expected to double by 2050.
I've grown quite fond of Raleigh and the surrounding area. I've been here for 5 years. As long as downtown Raleigh keeps growing healthily, I think the city will keep impressing.
I just spent a week in Raleigh area for work. People here are extemely polite and kind. Big difference than most peeps in Bay Area. Area is beautiful too with lots of greenery, places to hang out and great beer!
Lots of new development too... Nice houses going for only 300k new.
Thanks for the hospitality cant wait to come back!
I work at the Lemur Center
Edward McKay's has a pretty decent collection of stuff. They look everything up on ebay though so they have the rare stuff right around those prices but the import stuff is usually pretty good price. They also have books and music section.
Yep it's crazy my little town has a huge development going in that will increase the population by like 1000% and it's already increased the value of my house it is so fucking sweet. Also the commute to UNC is like 20 Minutes and going to Raleigh is like 45 now thanks to the new toll road.

Thanks! I just mapped it and it's like 37 miles to get there. Yuck.
Where do all the UNC people work? I'm surprised to see so many from Duke - there has to be a number from UNC too. I work in the IT department.

Too bad the highway system is still designed for a population from 1950.
I would move my family to North Carolina if my kids didn't have to grow up with a southern accent. Love the state and its people.
The Triangle really needs to push for light rail and commuter rail. The Blue Line in Charlotte has really made a difference in how you can get around the city, without needing a car. Sucks too, since the Triangle is now larger than the Charlotte metro, when it first got the light rail.
..lol, what a weird ass thing to say. As opposed to a New England accent, or a Wisconsin accent? What's wrong with anyone's accent, let alone a Southern one?
There is some country ass places where you can get an accent that makes you sound about 100 iq points stupider in NC. I mean hell Mountain Dew mouth is actually more of an epidemic in some places then meth mouth. They actually have commercials about not giving Mountain Dew and sweet tea to your babies.

Went there in February for a tour, and it was bit like the beginning of Jurassic Park with all the lemurs hiding. Makes sense, being winter and all.
Reporting from Sanford, NC. I work in Raleigh off of Glenwood Ave. You should check out The Flying Saucer next time you're in the area.
Edward McKay's is awesome! Their used movie section is huge too. I got all the n64 wrestling games there for like 20 bucks total. Good prices on the old stuff. But yeah they do their research. Saw a copy of Ocarina of Time 3ds they were selling for $70 on Record Store Day. And to think I got my copy used back in 2012 from gohastings for 16 bucks :-x.
They had a Earthbound for like 140 a few months back.
BossKey represent! Raleigh is lovely, been living here for just over five months.
I couldn't ask for a better atmosphere to make awesome games with awesome and talented people!
Dear lord man that is a commute and a half.
