Shows where the lead is overshadowed?

John Noble as Walter Bishop in Fringe.

Written as a supporting character, dude stole the damn show EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

I think of Fringe as a show with 3 lead characters though. Even the DVD boxes always have the 3 of them.

Blossom. Joey Lawrence totally dominated that show back in the day. Good to see Mayim Biyalik regain some of the spotlight in Big Bang Theory.

Isn't the show basically about Walter saving the day/future, fixing his mistakes, and finding redemption for his actions.

Zach Braff in scubs thanks to this guy....

Dr Cox. (and for good reasons) One of the best comedic characters TV has ever seen.

I'd say that Deadwood doesn't really have a lead character.

That's a fair argument, I was debating whether or not to include him given that he's the primary antagonist for Timothy Olyphant's character - whom I'd just always considered to be the "main" character.

That's what it eventually evolved into (and by the latter half Walter had been elevated into a main character), but in the first season he was obviously a supporting character.

This wasn't a show that started with three lead characters, even if it ended as one.

^I know, It was cool to watch how the show evolved to that though. Still though even in the beginning of the series it seemed like everything lead back to Walter/Bell

Turk and The Janitor were awesome too!

Archer's mom > Archer

All the characters are amazing, but Archer is the best.

Ron is the male lead. It is hard since Parks and Rec is an ensemble comedy.

I think How I Met Your Mother is a better example. Everyone HATES the lead but sticks around for Jason Segal.

Not true, I'd say NPH is the most popular.

arguably Bender overshadows Fry in Futurama

Close, but Bender doesn't work without Fry being around.

Love Dr. Cox, but again the entire show is built around this guy, just wouldn't work without him. Look at how terrible season 9 was, yet Cox was still there full time.

dat whistle. Anytime he'd do it I'd laugh a little inside.

Dr. Cox on obesity: LOL
"Nine pounds in a week!? Let me ask you a quick question: are you trying to make my head explode? Because you have no idea just how frustrating it is working your ass off trying to inflate a tiny little balloon inside someone's clogged artery. And all that a person has to do, really, is -- oh, I don't know -- go for a walk in the morning or choke down a fresh green salad. And you come back here looking like that!?! And I know, I know, here I'm supposed to be Dr. Give A Crap, but you wanna know the God's honest truth? And this is a fact -- you are what you eat, and you clearly went out and devoured a big fat guy, didn'cha!"

The Office seasons 8-9. Best thing to happen in the last season is the long absence of Andy.

Mad Men. Don is still prominent, but it's basically Mad Women now and with good reason.

Arrested Development. Although it's expected that Michael be the long-suffering one to get upstaged.

Anything Vanessa Williams does because she does a great job of stealing thunder.

Community. Troy and Abed. Annie. Britta, bitches!

Glee. It's always been about Rachel, but the male lead used to belong to Will but now gets tossed between Finn or Kurt.

True Blood because of some terrible scenario-writing for lead Sookie and the bajllion amount of cast members.

Revenge and Prison Break. The main leads are second-billed for some reason on both shows even though they're always front and center with covers and promos.

Game of Thrones season 1. Sean Bean gets overshadowed by the Tyrion and Daenerys and some other stuff.

Wes and Cordy quickly became my favorite part of Angel.

Till this guy who overshadowed the lead on the other show came over and overshadowed again:

Puppet
Angel Vs Spike is the best fight EVER MADE IN THE HISTORY OF ENTERTAINMENT

Sam Axe in Burn Notice. I'm sorry I don't really give a fuck about Micheal, Sam is where the gold lies.

Ooh this reminds me how much I have grown to despise Mike from Suits. Harvey and Donna (and Louis on the side) are more than strong enough to carry that show on their own, but we gotta have some stupid gimmick as the premise instead :(

I don't think a lot of people watch the show but Ksenia Solo on Lost Girl steals the show for me. I actually watch the show just for her. ;)

I think I read somewhere a while back that they were both credited as co-lead characters. Which seems fitting because they're basically perfect mirror images of each other in terms of what elements of their personalities they're both trying to suppress to stay alive. As much as the show could have a main character I think it would be Swearengen though

For a while she been acting like a desperate and clingy attention whore lately but she does have the best one liners in every scene she is in.
