Shu Yoshida: PS4 will be heavily focused on at TGS

Why bother? The PS4 is dead and buried in Japan. They need to focus on the Vita since at least that system has somewhat of a pulse over there.
Japanese Install Base...

PSV = 3,153,575
PS4 = 658,847

Install Base growth since the PS4 launched in February...

PS4 = 658,847
PSV = 581,673

Look! The PS4 is winning in Japan. It's beating the Vita. They still love consoles. Let us now rejoice! No Vita coverage at TGS. Japan has been won over to the new Sony hotness.

<yawn>

Considering that the Vita has somewhat stabilized in Japan and will still be getting support from some Japanese third parties, I think it's good that Sony is focusing on the PS4.

PS4 is really in need of a revival there.

Famitsu interview with Yoshida-san

- Some new titles they planned to announce at Gamescom had to be cut out of the presentation; one of the reasons why was because they decided to put in new trailers for The Order and Bloodborne

- Sony will be working with other publishers in Japan to help increase the userbase of the PS4 in Japan

- PS4 will be be getting lots of new content at TGS

- Project Morpheus will have content that will be very appealing to the Japanese audience

- Studio that's developing WiLD are the new studio by the people that made Rayman

SCEJ's JRPG, FFXV, KH3, Suikoden 6, Wildarms, Persona 5
lol

They need to drop bombs and announce Dragon Quest XI, The Last Guardian, Miku, Tales Of, Shin Megami Tensei, Monster Hunter 5, and Resident Evil 7 all as PS4 exclusives.

You realize that a lot of Vita's "momentum" in Japan has come due to Sony's software, right? What do you think will happen when they shift focus elsewhere? Vita isn't PSP in terms of third party support. There's no Monster Hunter or a variety of exclusive Final Fantasy games to keep the lights on.

The vita is the walking dead.

Let it go.

As for TLG, it amazes me how many people are even still interested. You have seen two trailers for the game in 7 years.

Two. Not even 5 total minutes of CGI footage. Not one moment of in game visuals. You don't even know how the game was going to play like.

You guys are worse than the people still waiting on Dr. Dre to release Detox. The last Guardian is not just dead, its been buried for years and on the way to being the next generations fossil fuel.

Some of you have children in school that weren't born when this game was announced. Jesus.

Fingers crossed for Persona 5 on PS4. Having only played P4G I wanna play more of the series, but cant play FES on Vita/PS4

That is very possible; both Persona 3 and 5 are likely to be present at the show :D.

The former has had.....three movies released in JP-only so far, so a Persona 3 Remaster for Vita is likely to happen. Atlus and Sega saw how successful Golden sold on Vita in Japan, so I would be surprised if Persona 3 doesn't get the Golden treatment on Vita. It would be cheaper and easier for Atlus to do this rather then port over P5 to Vita (as that is going to push the PS3; we don't know if that engine can even run on Vita :().

The latter is almost expected to appear at Sony's show. Persona 5 has had almost NO new news since its trailer was shown last fall, so them having a proper trailer or even a gameplay demo on PS3 is going to happen :D. Can't wait too; most hyped game for next year for me XD! Sony saw how successful the Persona series is on PS platforms too (Golden one of the few Vita games to be a hit on Vita alongside the series consistently topping PSN charts whenever they go on sale :D), so I would put it past them to get Studio Japan or someone to help Altus up-port Persona 5 to PS4.

I hope some of those Japanese announced games will be heading outside of to, Yoshida.

At this point, I ain't even surprised they're focusing on PS4. It's their hottest system at the moment, and even if Sony through every single cent they had at the Vita at this point, I don't think it'd do much good. Let that poor system-that-could ride it out another year or two, then take it out back and Old-Yeller the poor thing.

Most of that PS4 number is from its launch week. Vita regularly outsells it by a wide margin now. Vita sold more than 3 times what ps4 did last week, for example.

If that's the case then they may as well kill it.

They're not getting a MH

They're not getting any support from publishers like S-E, Capcom etc.

Their MH "clones" aren't doing anything to revive the system to like what MHP did for the PSP.

The system is dead as dead outside of Japan and I can't imagine the system being profitable at all overall.

Why waste resources on a system with no potential growth like Vita, when they can focus on the PS4 then, which whilst selling like shit in Japan at the moment is at least is selling great in the west. Who knows, maybe with some appealing exclusive games, the PS4 might actually do decently in Japan.

They will have to make some tough decisions and from this interview, it's seems they've already started making them.

Maybe sell my Vita now can be a good idea.
Jk, I dont think I'm gonna sell it yet... but it seems that there will be no Vita love on TGS.

He's saying the right things. I want Japanese PS4 games and the only way that's happening is through collaborations. Sucks for Vita though.

While Japanese support may be small atm, no way will devs continue to ignore the current 10 million and growing userbase. Last gen it made sense to jump in late due to the small userbase for the first couple of years but it's the complete opposite this time.
I imagine a lot of JP devs will be paying close attention to how well Bloodborne performs this spring.
