Was I the one who brought it up? I was explaining that regardless of systems, you face the SAME issue if you do not set them as your primary console.
How in any way is that a fanboy.
I'd love if it people would stop using that as a way to try and save face when they are wrong.
I don't know. It's ridiculous. Both systems use it, I don't see why it should be a setting at all. I mean, I guess for people who buy 2 systems but why would it limit your offline play?
Not 100% sure. But in my opinion, should it matter?
If my home has a working internet connection, anything on that console that doesn't require an internet connection or DOES require internet but not Xbox Live services, should be working.
Whether it's my "home" console or not is irrelevant really. YouTube only needs an internet connection. It shouldn't be affected by Live core services being down.
Lmao, I wasn't calling GAF SonyGAF. I was saying I ran the laborous SonyGAF twitch chat during PSX and Game Awards. Inviting thousands of people individually for 3 days straight.
Hence my "hostility" when called a fanboy towards X1.
That's cool, I saw that during the PSX thread but that doesn't mean anything. I"m glad you did, took a lot of work. But it doesn't really mean anything, regarding having one favorite console that you're passionate about.
My whole point wasn't this anyways, you were hostile since your first post.
If by running with it you mean I responded to the "might have to switch to PS4" comment, sure.. I was "running with it" by explaining both systems have the same gimmick. He'll have the same issues regardless of the system if he doesn't take the time to set his console to the primary one.
NO, you replied to me, with the PS4 comment after I replied, did I mention it? I don't see you responding to the "might have to switch to PS4" comment (unless I missed it).

But hey, if it's easier. Call me a fanboy.

Yeah, you're right. Didn't take long.

You have been hostile from the start. I don't know how you could argue otherwise when the truth is in every page. You want to hear frustrating? I haven't been able to get my fucking chat working in my Xbox One since Christmas yeah over a month. I've tried troubleshooting I've been on calls and chats with XBL and yeah the shit still isn't resolved. Now I'm not denying the PS4 has had its issues and believe me it has but it has been more user friendly than my Xbox one I can assure you that. And you just come off like you're pissed off he's bad mouthin one of your favorite brands and I mean people have already said core services are down and have been. My point with all this is I have a reason to be pissed off okay and still I've not taken a hammer to my Xbox I've taken it in stride but you well you became hostile from the start with the OP and yeah you look like a dick for doing it. You said hostility was met with hostility yet you were pissed off about something from the start.

Not everyone prefers one system over the other. Don't know what you're getting at. I don't know what I would get out of one console being more successful than the other.
And I'm pretty sure I did, I mentioned you would have the same issue regardless. Maybe I quoted the wrong person.

The PS4's ui is infinitely better. The ONLY qualm I have with the PS4 is slow messaging/friends loading.
Also, read my first post (the unedited that people quoted before I edited). Was giving him advice, no hostility. Hostility was met when people started accusing me of being a raging fanboy!
Which, lol, I'm not. If the guy wan'ts to play it off like he was just "joking" when he wrote the OP, sure. But he wasn't, and his tirade could have been avoided with a simple question in any of the Xbox help threads.
Not 100% sure. But in my opinion, should it matter?

I only asked because I have several rooms in my house with multiple consoles (bedroom, living room, games room etc), so in the eventuality that I did have more than one console, it'd be good to know. But as long as at least one console has that home console option, I suppose it's only a minor inconvenience either way. Not the end of the world.
Ah okay, I guess we'll just have to deal with this shit because he didn't set his Xbox to the right setting.
Bring on the Devil Box names and monkey shit!
Wtf is this bullshit?
People are fucking fanboys now because we don't like how the OP handled the situation? I've never even seen your username and you know I'm a usual suspect? Usual suspect of what?
I asked the guy to re-think his posting habit, people agree with me, certain people attacked me. Am I just going to let someone call me "a usual suspect"? For no reason?
I tried helping the guy. Set your X1 as your primary console, problem solved.
Maybe you shouldn't have an absolute meltdown due to the OP having an issue and using caps. Nobody is congratulating him on his use of caps, but you're the only person who thought it was worth derailing the entire thread over.
Nobody gives a fuck what you did for the community because this thread isn't about you setting up a chat. Get over yourself.
Maybe people shouldn't accuse others of being a fanboy. Especially those who spent a lot of personal time helping the community.

I didn't use it, I responded to it. How many times do I have to explain that. It was simple advice. Switching won't help if he doesn't set his xbox to primary systems.

I didn't edited your first post, you EDITED your first post. People only have to look at post number 3 and 4 to see what you wrote.. why are you now saying you were so calm?...

You're missing some of my post regarding "not my fault you didn't set your console to primary". Comes off stronger than what I had intended, especially when I had more to say in that post.
This thread is embarrassing.
Op vents at a corporation and people jump to its defense by insulting him personally (very personally as they viciously bring him having a child into it)
Yeah, hence the edit. It came off too strong when it's not my intention and it's against the rules. I edited it very early on. What's wrong with that? You don't make posting mistakes? I edited it after 8 minutes when people misinterpreted my intentions (via text, which is unsurprising and completely understandable).

This is just super frustrating. I'm not defending MS, at all, and being accused of just blindly defending them despite the legitimacy of the complaint is unfair as hell. If it were Sony, Nintendo, etc, it would be the same issue in my eyes. If you don't know how to work your system, then you're going to have some frustrations. That's a big part of what this community is though, is to help eachother. Coming on and ranting is perfectly acceptable, but NO one thinks the OP over did it? Am I really this off base?

How do you NOT get why I started discussing PS4? People starting discussing PS4, so I started to discuss it as well?
What is asking if we're talking about XBL do? Currently I was talking about (rather, I was genuinely asking) if there was a similar caveat on PS4...
Is there?
Yet I was referring to helping the Sony fans on here.
Someone mentioned they are currently streaming their video when XBL is down. I'm sure he/she could help OP

I have no issue with you editing, but you described your post as being "so, so calm" despite your frustration...and yet you had to edit it because it was extremely aggressive?
No offense, but you seem to have trouble following your own conversations.
That sucks OP. I never understood blocking off services that don't even use the host's network. It's baffling on a lot of devices. A certain other console initiates a license check for netflix for instance. Insanity.
"Are you not reading any of the posts that are responding to you? It's your fault you didn't set your XB1 as your primary, home console.
You can't do it when XBL is down, but when it comes back up, set it and forget it (you'll be fine if XBL goes down in the future)."
My full post, letting him know what to do and when he can do it (that's called advice).
Not to mention he stated "core services are down, don't know what that means", and I replied, are you reading any of the posts responding to you letting you know that the core services being down has nothing to do with it?

How do you come to that conclusion? The post wasn't overly aggressive, at all, it was backseat modding, which is against the rules, so I didn't want the mods to interpret that way and edited it. What's not to get? People were clearly assuming I was trying to backseat mod, and I didn't mean for it to sound that way. It was still a calm post, letting him know its not usually the best way to go about things.
Obviously this argument/conversation is going no where. Apologies to those who were offended, and misinterpreted my posts/intentions. Usually a very relaxed/calm/helpful poster, but I can see how I'm coming off as hostile when it wasn't what I meant to happen.
I have no preference either way, goodluck in solving your issues OP. Might want to PM the guy who had his streaming working while XBL was down, sure he/she can help.
Well, just got done yelling at my Xbone because of this stupidity also. And, yes, my console is set as my home console, but when I booted it up not only were my pins gone, but I couldn't use the browser, or random other things because it said "Xbox live is having issues".
Great, I'm glad Xbox live is having issues, wtf does that have to do with my pins? And what does that have to do with the browser? Or Twitch? Or whatever else.
I did the full hold the button down hard reset thing, started and rebooted multiple times and I finally gave up and switched to the PS4 so I could watch some Twitch while cooking. An hour later I come back to the Xbone and everything magically works.

I guess in your eyes your FULL POST, is less insulting. The same way you saw posts as "so clam". lol I never said you didn't give him an advise. I said you were insulting, which you were. The quote proved that. And that you weren't so calm, which I proved and others saw also. So I don't know how far you're going to try to argue.
I don't think I did. But then again, I'm biased because I'm me.
Like I said, I came off ranty. I know that. But you know, it was just the last straw. My little guy was tugging at my pants: "Dadda dadda" and pointing at the TV "Xbxxxx" (It's what he calls the TV), And the damn thing wouldn't work. Just really pissed me off.

Uh hes right in that it's a damn frustrating console to deal with often.... That's why my 360 isn't going anywhere soon.
Considering replacing the one with a ps4 every day. Got it for the halo mcc and to try out the beta-- That in itself was a disappointment
Media player can't even resume for fucks sake
Nearly everything about the UI is a downgrade from the 360. Clearly different people with different priorities worked on it. 360 interface , even though dated, worked a hell of a lot better for the most part. Is anyone seriously going to deny that??
I must admit yelling out "Xbox on!" to turn it on is cool though. Wish my TV could do that
It's happened numerous times now where this stupid thing turns into a $500 f'ing paper weight because their system is down for maintenance, or DDOS attacks, or whatever monkey business they got going on.
WHY CAN'T I STREAM MY SON'S VIDEOS FROM MY PC TO MY XBONE IN MY OWN GOD DAMN NETWORK!!!
Why can't I use youtube or netflix or plex when your shitty service is down?!
This is unacceptable, Microsoft. You are getting in the way of my and my family's enjoyment of our TV entertainment, hooking up your devil box to my TV has turned out to be the worst decision I've made.
