Tbf the trailer looked like some kind off ass too…I get the feeling its going to be much MUCH more cutscene heavy than the original. Guess we'll see

It was the most average and safe game in the history of average and safe games. I would have preferred if they took some risks and turned out with something bad instead of whatever it is I played. A horror game should never be putting you to sleep.

We've seen nothing to suggest this remake is going to be any better. The coverart looks like Dreamfall Chapters.

Would etleast wait till we see something many developers have produced sub par games then gone on to produce amazing games. With way devs are highered you just don't know how things like this going turn out. It's obvious Konami have seen how well RE remakes have done and want bit of that pie I just can't see them screwing hhis up with the foundation of a good game right there.

We never got an official release date. Since the announcement trailer we only got a few tidbits of info in interviews and some pre-order leaks.

Can't speak for that one as I haven't played it, but honestly I enjoyed the Blair Witch game they did.

The game part is OK.
The story-telling is where bloober completely shat the bed.
They try to make the player sympathize with a literal child molester in the game.

Why is that such a crazy concept? Human beings are not just one dimensional "pure good" or "pure evil" constructs.
Child molesters especially are not really unexpected to try and make sympathetic. Often times molesters in real life were molested themselves, so they were kinda fucked up by their own experience. To use another piece of fiction as an example, Twin Peaks tries to make you sympathize with Leland Palmer, even though he raped and murdered his own daughter. I just get so tired of people who dismiss different forms of narrative because it doesn't fit in with your world view. Sounds to me you don't understand art if you have that mentality.

Maybe, I use both interchangeably.
Basically the gist of that part of the story is:
that the there is an alternate-dimension where people's traumas create monsters, your protagonist can see and sort that shit out, one of the central plot segments is about you finding a little girl who has created a monster because of her trauma of being molested, and the you find the molester and the game tries to make the player feel bad for an old guy who molested a young girl because of his own lingering trauma ( his trauma doesn't involve him getting molested similarly mind you )
There's more to the story but that part was pretty off-putting to me.

Silent Hill 2 adorer here, I haven't been excited about this because everything is outweighed by hesitance and caution, lol. I really don't know what to expect, so I'd rather not expect anything at all. It'll be nice to finally know if it's worth being excited about at all, or not.

I'm optimistic. I think they will improve the gameplay without completely changing it to a shooter and if they nail the cutscenes they will deliver a solid remake. They don't need to do an reimagining like the RE remakes. Something that goes a little further than a Bluepoint remake would be ideal.

This is the right mindset. Blooper Team being involved should give you pause as should the fact that they are changing fundamental components to the game like the camera which has the possibility of robbing the game of some of the tension.

The Medium had stuttering and weird area loadings that made no sense technically for the series X. Blair Witch was even worse performance wise.
