Silent Hill HD Collection Xbox 360 Patch Cancelled

Where is this being noted as a problem with Microsoft's patching policies? Provide proof in the form of links to interviews/quotes, etc.

Ya, this is the first that Ive heard of a patch being cancelled on 360 and im positive it has more to do with Konamis incompetence than it does MS`s policy. You ship a broken game, you should fix it....unless you dont know how...

Dear Microsoft: If you keep the same patch policies you have in place on the Xbox 360 for the next Xbox, then you know where you can go. It has become absolutely obvious that your consumers are suffering because of said policies.

And yes, I know a lot of the blame rests on those that made the game in the first place. That doesn't stop you from being a huge part of the problem however.

Balderdash.

This is Konami's fault and only Konami's fault. MS bear absolutely no blame here, it's ridiculous to suggest they do.

Explain why PS3 gets a patch while its HD counterpart on X360 doesn't? They list resources as the bottleneck. MS' policy has to be the only reason unless Konami just wants to rub it in to X360 owners that the PS3 version got itself patched already.

Maybe the 360 version requires more work to patch?

Wasn't this originally announced for PS3 only and announced for 360 much later? Maybe the 360 version is a shitty port of already shitty ports...

Pretty sure the PS3 version was released in a worse state than the 360 version, and the patch they released did very little to fix anything. I think people were expecting at least another PS3 patch to fix the game further. If that comes, then it's an MS problem.

Eh, to be honest, this is more like them apologizing for defacing or mutilating a freshly-exhumed corpse or two for public viewing and telling everyone they should still come and check it out. SH was dead last generation.

It was dead, but success can be so much less than that (--John Hodgman).

The series still had some kind of potential and there was still a certain aura around the first three Silent Hill games, especially the first two sequels.
Now Konami has managed to tarnish the potential for the SH IP by presenting a technically and (due to what went badly on the technical side) an artistically broken release making sure that people new to the series have less potential reasons to become fans of the series compared to the people who experienced them before on PS2.

I have not played this.

Is it a case of

SH HD is unplayable
Konami refuses to patch and drops the game dead

or

SH HD is beyond playable and something most of the players wont notice.
Konami refuses to patch because its not a priority.

If its the first then its the worst thing i can think of regarding a HD remake, if the latter then its still bad but its much like the "Fez issue"

Because Konami is a garbage company?

Scott Pilgrim, a little XBLA game, is getting more content and a new patch two years after release next week.

Konami can't be bothered to fix a giant retail product for one of their key franchises.

This isn't some childish, GameFAQs Sony vs. Microsoft thing, this is most likely incompetence on Konami's part.

What is it with companies and Microsoft patches? Capcom drops the ball with SF X T on Xbox and now this ridiculousness.

depends on what your definition of unplayable is!

Hey, I agree that Konami fucking sucks, just like most of these large publishers. I'm just not willing to let MS (or any other platform holder) off the hook for their policies which have contributed more pain than pleasure to the situations regarding patches across many games from many developers and publishers, in general.

Why did we get a PS3 patch and not an Xbox 360 patch? Yes, I'm going with the conspiracy theory here, because I've seen this kind of situation too many times.

It's fine man, don't let him put you off.
Granted, I haven't actually played the originals, but it looks like an upscaled PS2 game surprisingly enough. But it loads quickly, most of the fog is back, and the frame rate is erratic sure, but it's also sporadic. Most of the time it's fine. And it's not like your playing vanquish.

Because the PS3 version was very, very bad, the 360 version just very bad. The PS3 patch brought it up to very pretty bad, so they are most likely going to leave it at that.

PS3 version was in worse shape to begin with and probably still is.

On another note, seems shady to retract a patch announcement. Damn Konami what happened this gen?

"Sorry, can't afford to fix our shit. But please, by all means buy it."

Or maybe the patch was PS3-exclusive? Signs of the times for next generation, perhaps.

Well add trophies for MGS, but fix a broken game? Thats not in Konamis policy.
Oh shit, I forgot about MGS4's completely superfluous and hilariously late patch, but they won't fix a shoddy product? I mean, the patch doesn't exactly flip the script, but it improves matters somewhat.

Has Silent Hill HD on 360 gotten a patch already? I thought the first one was free.

Yeah why is everyone blaming Microsoft for Konami not giving a fuck about the quality of the game they released? They got flack for releasing the PS3 patch which didn't improve the collection to the standard people were hoping for, so now they see no reason to bother with a 360 patch. Simple as that. There is no benefit for them to patch the 360 version in their eyes.

Microsoft should give 2-3 free patches, not just the first (and maybe another if the negotiate ahead of time) but this seems very much like Konami not giving a shit as usual. Like they didn't give a shit about the collection in the first place.

Once again:

Where is this being noted as a problem with Microsoft's patching policies? Provide proof in the form of links to interviews/quotes, etc.

Where is the proof that it's Konami just not wanting to do the patch on the Xbox 360? That argument goes both ways.

I think it has more to do with their games not selling on 360 than it does the cost of the patch. Either way, it makes them look incompetent and add to that that they don't seem to care if their products sell on Xbox. Good company right there. They're going places.

Don't MS allow the first patch on games to be free? So.....How many times has Silent Hill been patched so far that's leading to the assumptions that this is about the fee MS charge for anything beyond the first patch?

The game wasn't as bad on 360, maybe they don't see the benefit in patching it as it's not as bad the PS3 version.

Also, first patch is free. Have they released any patches for the 360 version?
