I think my first playthrough of the PSP version was 5 and a half hours.Haeleos said:How long is a first play through of this game?
neverknowsbest said:Do you guys think the PS2 version is worth getting over the PSP version if I don't care about playing on a small screen? Is it a really shoddy port or will it play and look pretty decent on PS2? I just want to get the best experience.
Haeleos said:and the designers put enemies right outside some of the doors /w loading times so... there's not much you can do to escape some damage sometimes.
Scalpel Knight said:Kind of OT, but I really want to pick up Silent Hill 2 and possibly this as well. I have a 360 and a PS3, should I get the Xbox or PS2 SH2?

Mar_ said:That I don't know. I never owned an xbox. However the xbox version comes with the extra single player game where you play as Maria. Probably worth picking up that version for that reason.
Night_Trekker said:Anyway, I think I'm close to the end and I have to say, for an outsourced game, Origins is impressive. Hats off to Climax UK for making a game that "gets" the SH look and for cleaning up the absolute mess made by Climax US.
Night_Trekker said:There's a PS2 re-release with the extra content, too.
Hats off to Climax UK for making a game that "gets" the SH look and for cleaning up the absolute mess made by Climax US. The enemy designs are (mostly) great and the level design is solid.
Mar_ said:If you haven't played SH2 before, then you absolutely have to get it on whatever console you choose to pick up. It really is one of the greatest games ever devised.

Haeleos said:The greatest hits version of SH2 has the extra content.
inthezone said:TBH, even though the enemy designs were quite crappy, the original build of Origins was IMO quite impressive in terms of graphics. I think its the best looking PSP game. The revamped game, while still impressive, just doesnt seem to look as good.
Haeleos said:Swinging your fists and your weapons is a bit more responsive over previous games I find. But there's no lock on or combos or anything, if that's what you're asking for.
The Mighty Schwein said:Picked this up, beat it. Do you love fighting the camera in fits of terror (and rage)? Do you love walking up to every door in sight (of which there is usually a lot) just to find out said door is "blocked, and can not be opened"? Do you love to check your map every 2 minutes? Well then, HERE YOU GO!!
Haeleos said:haha, you mustn't have played the previous SH games. Yeah it's annoying, but I don't realistically expect 20 rooms on every floor of a building in the game to be open and have something meaningful inside them.
And chicks dig map reading skills...
I case you haven't decided yet, I recommend the PS2 version. The XBOX version adds a perpixel flashlight beam, true, but there are plenty of other missing graphical effects and wierd glitches that weren't present on PS2. The PS2 version is how the game was originally intended to be experienced and is the version you should go with.Scalpel Knight said:^I have both an original Xbox and PS2 as well, I just was wondering about what looked better upscaled. It uses save points like the older games, but remember, the PSP offers a sleep mode so you can stop at any time.MidiSurf said:How is the saving system in SH Origins (PSP-version). Can you save in any point of game or do you have to search for save points (like typewrites in RE).
I would like to buy this for PSP but I also want to be able to save and quit the game any time I want.
