Silent Hill team working on a new project on PS3

Old and already in the Silent Hill thread which you can find lower down here at the front page.

Btw, people check out the SH thread, it got the actual videoclip showed at that movie festival and it's greeeat!

New to me, thanks. What other games do the SH team work on, or is it safe to assume it's SH5?

edit - maybe i'll find all my answers in the SH thread ;)

Sorry,I didn't read it because it's a way too big thread now and it's focused on the movie.
I think this deserves its own thread ;)

The only game they worked on that wasn't a SH turned into a SH as it went further in development (SH4). It could be something other than a new SH though, but that does seem like what it likely is. Which is a good thing.

Seriously, this needs to go.

There's something disturbing about that girl.

Back to topic, I guess either E3 or TGS will be the shows that will reveal Silent Hill PS3 this year. Hopefully E3.

Not surprising, but cool to have it confirmed nevertheless. I wouldn't mind something other than SH-nextgen, but I would certainly be more than happy either way.

E3 is going to be huge. So many mammoth franchises to be unvieled for the first time.

We have like 200+ PS3 games announced but we only have footage from ~1/10th that and alot are 'Untitled' as of now. 8 more weeks...can't wait.

Yeah its definetely not surprising. All rumors pointed at a PS3 release.

And they're probably making a non-SH game too. I remmeber the team said they are planning on using the original SH3 sceneario for a new game and then there's the rumor they're making a whole new IP for the 360 *shrugs*

This snippet is enough to not take this as confirmation:

The Silent Hill team has said...

Unless someone can source that? Anyway, I'd say it's likely that next-gen SH is coming to the PS3, but stranger things have happened.

I heard a rumor that they're moving all future Silent Hill franchise development to America, since Yamaoka doesn't want to work on the series any more, and most of its audience is American/European.

Would make sense, since he tied up the plot of Silent Hill 1 with 3 and then tried to make The Room something else, but then they wouldn't let him. A system transition is a good time to cut loose and start on a new IP, as well.

Yamaoka doesn't want to work on the series anymore? :lol He's so into the series that he made sure to have involvement in the movie just to make sure they did't screw it up.

One thing's for sure,if they make a next gen game with the 32bit era tank controls they deserve to see the series bombing hard.

.

That kind of rumor would have passed through GAF hears first, woulnd't it? :lol

Yamaoka loves the series. He's said several times he will ALWAYS work on the soundtrack even if Konami doesn't him want to.

for those keeping score, in 1999/2000 some members of Team Silent were involved with Konami's 1st gen PS2 game Shadow of Memories/Destiny- using mechanics as an early testing ground for SH2.
After SoD got off the ground, those members combined with project leaders such as Imamura, Tsuboyama, and Sato to work full-speed-ahead on SH2.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, since it appears Team Silent can't make a seperate game these days (see Room 302), this is almost certainly SH5.
Then again, as Ceb said, stranger things have happened. EGM rumored (cue laugh track) that Team Silent was working on a completely new project for 360, but SH5 for PS3 seems like the money choice.
