Simpsons Game: EA Had to Remove GTA Parody POSTER, you troglodytes

well, i`m going to wait to see what it`s like - i`m certainly not going to call something "shit" with out playing it first.

I said it looks shit from the videos i've seen, it could very well turn out to be a good game. But nothing i've seen of it thus for suggests it will.

Quick, delete that! Some writer somewhere is about to hurl himself off a bridge for missing such an obvious and delicious pun.
MAD magazine did that one (Grand Theft Otto) some time ago.

I'm not gonna buy GTA IV now.

PS T2 legal is not Rockstar.
Yeah, the level of ignorance and knee jerk reactions in this thread is pretty disappointing. Rockstar/TT never stopped the guys that made Driv3r.

Wait...so why didn't Rockstar stop production of this?

Because there is no theft or grand?

I know this has been said before but how ironic it is that Rockstar was offensive yet every single of of their game contains a parody/ripoff...

I don't see any movie directors or any advertisers complaining beside Jack Thompson...

This game was suppose to be a tribute to all the games out there, so if Rockstar or Activision don't want to be a part of that tribute, then i say Good for You!

Respect Level -1

Man, after reading the article, i was stunned about the part where the EA guys openly admitted to having sex in the office.... with the printers?!

Is that physical bubble jet printers or the printers as in "the females who work in the printing office"?

And all the stuff about free narcotics - i guess they are just looking for publicity?

What do you guys think? Please let me know.

Rockstar is lame. They parody everything they can. I hope other devs do the same thing to them.
Isn't Jack Thompson suing because Rockstar is making fun of him?

This is only going to help his case in court. Nice work, geniuses.

use of copyrighted material in a parody is legal in the US, so EA can spoof whatever it wants.

This is true, though that wouldn't necessarily keep Activision from dragging EA to court over it. Avoiding expensive legal fees over trivial things like this would be desirable.

"What happened Rockstar? You used to be cool"

"Hey Rockstar still cool..We sue later! later!"

Oh and

Guybrush Threepwood, Grand Theft Otto is fucking brilliant.

When Activision lost the case (which they would since parody has been deemed legal over and over again), EA could countersue and end up making a profit.

Take-Two is the last company that should be bitching about parodies since just about everything in the GTA series is a parody of something else (some are more obvious than others, like "True Grime"), so I think EA should say "F*ck you, we will keep it in".

Visualante, Rockstar Games is just a label of T2 (like EA Sports and EA Sports Big are just labels of Electronic Arts).

So the level is in, but the poster design is out? The poster design was very, very close to GTA's cover art style, so I could see them being upset by potential confusion that this was a rockstar product/spinoff GTA in the simpons world due to the design of that poster.

EA should be more careful. That one little anecdote managed to cast Rockstar in a bad light for a lot of people, which I'm sure is pretty far from what EA would like.

I'm sure.

From what I heard, this thread is BS.

Rockstar wasn't happy about a poster on a wall inside the game... they said they didn't like it and EA said 'FU'.

Thats it. I don't know if EA deleted the poster in the end, but Grand Theft Scratchy is still in the game and will be in the retail version.

So all this 'R* sucks, I'm not going to buy GTA4' is all for nothing.

GAWD---people come on - it was in GERMANY.

and you know what, our country has a problem with brutality in video games and you know what too? the poster showed only the bad aspects of the the game parodied (GTA III) - pure brutality. and yes, i can imagine, that this poster onlone would be bad press for take 2 in our countray - hey at the GC there are many children and parents and sure they look at posters and stuff and even they would recognice the gta franchise in the end.

but hey, even your own americano ass-hat jack thompson would have new targets with that parody poster to attack taketwo in the end for their game.

I don't see how Take 2 could do anything about the game's content as long as it doesn't outright copy without permission. As for promotion and advertising of a commercial product, however, EA would have to be more careful when including parody.

Poster taken down + removing "stuff" from game != removing entire segment of game.

Having said that, lol rockstar.

I'm really hoping that this was R*'s legal department gone rogue, like when Epic's legal department persecuted a different Gears fan every week without talking to Mark or anyone else first earlier this year.

Unbelievable; but there has to be a reason and I would guess a very limited part of Take-Two took action. Maybe Rockstar North & Games were honored to be in the upcoming Simpsons game, but their bosses weren't...

Wow that's certainly unexpected, you'd think R* would be the last company to care about this. Bunch of squares

ANY NEW GTA4 INFOS!?!?

What in the hell is that?

It's ok for Rockstar to parody other games and movies but Rockstar cannot be parodied by others.

Bravo.

Suits in their legal dept. don't get the humor i'm sure. What a shame, don't they know imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

Edit: That sitar hero pic is hilarious.

Seriously EA is doing TOO good lately!

The "its cool to hate" company is actually being defended because they are all of a sudden making good games!

Seriously, they are TRYING!

Its just so freaking amazing to see this transformation
