Over the past few months, I've got a few of these little suckers that have sprouted up in my right armpit, yuck.

So today, I figure I'm going to get rid of them, because they annoy me.

I picked up this today

Anyone had any experiences with it? Does it work? Anything I should know before jumping in head first?

I contemplated just cutting them off, but read that it would bleed a lot.... and that did not sound pleasant, lol.

My family gets the in our pits too :/
If you don't want to clip them yourself you can get a doctor to snip them.
Never used the medication, sorry.

Don't go to the doctor and pay $100+
Remove it yourself. It's VERY simple. You can use nail clipper, scissors, whatever.
Rub it with some rubbing alcohol to clean the area, same with whatever device you're using to remove it. Then cut it where it connects to your skin. Clean the wound again with rubbing alcohol, and put on a band aid. Boom. Done. You saved yourself $100 (in the U.S.).

- Disinfect the fuck out of whatever you're gonna use to cut it off.
- Freeze is for a good 15-20 minutes. Just sit there holding an ice pack on it, because it's going to hurt like a bitch.
- Be prepared for it to bleed a LOT. It's not like popping a zit. Damn thing is going to pour blood for like 5 minutes.

That sounds horrifically painful to cut off your own. I've recently developed one at the base of my manhood. I'll be damned if I'm going to put a nail clipper anywhere near that.

I was reading that tea tree oil will help them go away, but I'm doubtful about that.

Yea... don't cut it off if its anywhere near your dick. But for arm pit, etc? It's really not that bad. It bleeds a lot but it doesn't hurt too bad.

I had a doctor remove one at my last visit. A small bandaid and that was it. What the hell have you been doing? Don't gouge out chunks of your body

I seriously thought I was the only one who used nail clippers on these. LOL.

I got one that was real painful under my armpit, but most of the time they're on my neck. =(

I went to a doctor to remove one my first time and was left with about $150 bill (I have health insurance mind you). Since then I've been dealing with it myself.

I've got one of these on my neck/shoulder, probably from sports bras. I actually tore some of it off one time with my fingernails, but it just grew back :( I'll have to try some of the other methods... too much of a wimp to cut it off properly.

Just tried this thing on one of them, was pretty simple. Hardest part was putting the "shield" over the tag, and getting to fit through the hole, lol. That's hella tough to do on yourself!
Anyway, stung for a second, then I didn't feel anything for the 40 seconds that I had to do it. Product says the tag will fall off on it's own within the next two weeks.

If it works, I'll do the remaining ones. Unfortunately, I'll have to shave my damn armpit hair to do those ones. >.<

I've used toenail clippers on mine before. It bled for about 5 minutes and was sore for about a day.

I've read about people taking dental floss (or rubber bands) and using them as a turnicate around the skin tag, then after a few days (week?) it will fall off due to the lack of blood flow. Seems like you would need help with this for ones in the armpit.

I wouldn't have had him remove it but he wanted to biopsy it to make sure. Its a trusted doctor so I believe he wasn't running needless tests. Otherwise I'd have just learned to live with it. It was on my scalp and it would get cut when i got a haircut. Probably grossed out the barber so I was prety self conscious of it.

i just got drunk and cut one off of my leg with a pocket knife. it didn't hurt, i don't think it had nerve endings in there. pretty weird experience. it hasn't grown back.

What distinguishes a skin tag from a melanoma?

Also, don't google image search skin tag, apparently these are common in the rectal area.

Removing it yourself??? Damn, sounds so painfull.... Really, I almost fainted reading some of the replies...
You guys are so hardcore that if there ever is going to be a zombie-apocalypse I'm gonna find you people and survive that shit!

The fuck is a skin tag. These are warts right?

Not a wart

According to the packaging, you shouldn't use this product unless your tag fits 4 criteria.

1. Gotta be skin coloured
2. Sticks out from skin on a small, narrow stalk
3. Soft and easy to move
4. Painless

If it's all 4 of these things, it's likely just a harmless skin tag and you are free to freeze that mofo off.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Some of the images I have seen occasionally make it look quite similar to melanomas though.

I'll still advise anyone with weird skin irregularities to get themselves checked out by a physician instead of grabbing the kitchen knife.

Tie some thread around the base of the tag, make sure its tight. Should cut off the blood supply and it will be very easy and painless to remove.

All I know is I've gotten a number of these over the years (not recently) and none of them are there anymore. I don't know what happens to them, but I never had them removed. Many of them were from using strong aluminum chloride-based anti-perspirant.

I have 3 on my neck below the shirt line. I cut one off once with scissors and holy fuck did it hurt. Bleed like a stuck pig. I'm going to try that freezing medication for the rest.

Thank you for this thread. Very common in the latino community. I've been fearful of taking care of it myself and I never saw a product specifically for it. I will try it out. Only problem I have is that I have one devil of a skintag on my should blade where I can't really reach FUCK. The rest I can take care of.

More likely from friction of your skin rubbing together. That's why fat people get them more and they are more likely to appear in the cracks/crevices of the body.

Well crap, if that's true, this explains why I've got them in my armpit. I use this, suddenly it's clear to me.

I guess I'll be stopping that right this instant. Damnit. What's good alternate deodorant, I've always liked this because it prevents you from sweating, doesn't just mask any odour.

I've already tried it once, I'll let you know if it worked over the next two weeks.

One of the better option is to freeze them, you can often get rid of allot of skin tags from just one session.

So go visit your GP and ask.

The freezing is pretty cool, but a little scary as well. It's basically a can of nitroglycerine, I can only imagine getting it on any other parts of your skin would have serious consequences.

You take this swab that looks like a Q-tip, and stick it in a bottle for 3 seconds. You here a hissing, and when you pull it out, vapour/steam/whatever is rolling off of the tip of the Q-tip, and as soon as you touch it to your skin, it burns.

The pharmacist at the store I picked it up at, warned me to ensure that I don't touch anywhere I don't want to kill, because it's basically insta-frostbite.

Crazy cool, eh? lol

I went with the Dr. Scholls pack and it worked awesomely. Had it just under my armpit and it took maybe 5 mins to prep and it fell off painlessly maybe a week later. Would definitely recommend it.

I heard you can tie dental floss or similar at the base that connects to the body and it will fall off but haven't tried personally. Not hard to remove although much easier of you catch them early rather than later.

And for people that are confused I believe it's genetic and occurs where there is friction on the body. I.e. armpits, collar of shirts, crouch area depending on underwear, where the seat belt rubs on your shoulder, etc..
