I have a pair of skullcandy earbuds and they're alright. Not bad, but not great. The best part about them is that they have volume control on the earbuds, which is nice.

Yuin PK3s are reasonably cheap, sound excellent, and don't look stupid, so there's no reason to get anything else if you just want simple earbuds. You can even get a j-cord version as well if you're weird like that.

I fell for the "hey, these kind of look cool" several years ago one black friday. Worst earbuds I ever owned. Horrible sound quality and as said, way too much bass.

If you're really in the mood for cheap earbuds, JVC's Air-Cushion Headphones are kind of decent. They're one of the few that actually stay in my ear without being uncomfortable.
I always keep a cheep pair of earbuds around for gym use and they've been one of the better pairs I've had.

I've always wondered about these, but have always been turned off by the prospect of blowing a cool hundred on actual non-iem buds.

Will have to get around trying it one of these days.
