Skyrim mod improves perfomance up to 40% - Modders do what Bethesdon't. :/

I don't wanna sound mean but... Bethesda should fire their programmers and hire some... real programmers. Seriously.

Dude from the TES site said this and I couldn't agree more. What the hell, this shouldn't be possible, especially not so soon after its release. I'm gonna install this and test it out myself. I get fine FPS, but it dips badly in some cities.

all this tweaking and fiddling isn't worth it, that's why your primary gaming machine is a console.

A 40% performance increase isn't worth copying over some files in a folder? Who could say that?

Just saw the edit.. So to be clear, the performance improvement comes at a cost of possible scripting errors? In that case, not sure if worth it..

I'll probably wait until the scripting errors get fixed before I think of using this mod, already experienced some wierd stuff with AI not acting right.

So Bethesda should have released a game with widespread scripting errors?
You understand that the scripting errors are just a result of this being made through trial and error? They haven't got a QA team, they are modders. They need to release to the community so they can find these problems.

Oddly enough Bethesda appear to think that the same rule applies to them.

So instead of people just being happy, we need to use this to trash the ones who actually made the game?
Yeah... I don't understand it either.
Hey, lets hope they fire the guys that probably worked their asses off under tight deadlines to create an extremely complex, open world game, just because we think they were being lazy assholes.
Did everyone just completely ignore the mention of scripting errors with this?

Someone in one of the forum threads said the scripting errors might actually be from the most recent patch (can't find the post right now), so it's not confirmed if it's due to the mod.

Yea I'm well aware of what modders have to contend with I just think Bethesda gets way too much crap for a game that people are pouring 100+ hours into. How many games of this scope are released? Sure complain all you like about its little problems but don't pretend that the game runs like a mess on PC because it doesn't. No amount of QA will catch all the bugs in a CRPG of this size.

Also hindsight is 20/20.

Holy mcgoddamn.

It's about a 20% performance increase. Not quite what is advertised, but still impressive.

it's also possible this mod is increasing performance so much because it's breaking the game in some way

1) Bethesda doesn't give a fuck about optimizing their games on PS3

- ok I kinda, sorta understand it, PS3 is just not their market

2) Bethesda doesn't give a fuck about optimizing their games on PC

- wait what???

Maybe they should just go Xbox exclusive, lazy fucks.

I just tested, the situation in the op is broken with the plugin, but not with the normal exe (up to date).

Before I even heard of this patch I had to use the console to advance a couple of quests that plain didn't work, in a completely unmodded game, so having to do that a couple more times is a price I'll happily pay for a playable framerate in Markath.

edit: although I guess when I get to a broken bit I could also just quit out and reload without it.

Yeah I started a new character today and played a shit ton and did not see a single scripting error.

Anyways crazy how threads like this always turn into bethesda bashing.. Skyrim runs great on my dated PC.

Eh. A lazy port is still better than being forced to play a game on a console. The amount I've put into Skyrim probably would have been extended by HOURS of pure load times. PC gamers complain a lot about console design decisions making it over to their version of the game, but that has never bothered me personally.

Yeah, same here. I restarted the game to see if there are any scripting issues people are talking about, but I didn't have a single problem. I've been playing on my regular save for awhile now too and still nothing. It won't hurt to try it out, really easy to disable if there are any problems.

I love this mod though! Like I said in my other post, I get fine FPS already, but there some bad dips in some cities and this solves the problem. I'm going to be sure to keep an eye out for any updates for this one.

Oh and this is an issue with the code, nobody is going after the artists or designers. The programmers are at fault for this here, and that goes for the PlayStation 3 version too. They're either not doing their job or they're incompetent.

As long as they give us the ability to fix things, fuck yeah!

Bethesda has been making poorly optimised PC versions since Oblivion, so this isn't exactly new to Skyrim.

Though Oblivion was much, much worse.

Just played this game for the first time last night on my 2600k/580, and it blew me away. I was only using the beta drivers with no mods, so this is just icing on the cake.

it's a shame that a lot of people won't hold bethesda to responsibility with how shoddy the pc and especially ps3 versions have been, but i guess most people will be playing on x360 and won't give a fuck.
