Skyrim Special Edition...crickets...crickets

Again, paralysis of choice. Having the option then triggers something in the back of my mind that I might not be getting the best experience if I'm not using the right mods. Then I'm scouring the Internet looking for the best mod setups and testing different mods with each other repeatedly to get everything to work perfectly. I'd spend more time doing than then actually playing the game. I did exactly this with Oblivion on PC, which is why I went for the 360 version of Skyrim despite still owning a respectable gaming PC.

You're arguing in the defense of a parody post.

Lol people are not going to accept this at all but I think it is valid. Personally I really wanted mod support though. I really liked a few of the gameplay mods like choosing your start and the ones that make patrols more interesting. Some of the more subtle ones really added a lot.

I guess the biggest impact was from graphics mods though. Maybe I'll still get it if it goes on sale.

Why does it depend on Sony when other devs confirmed PS4 mod support for upcoming games?!

afaik Bethesda asked Sony to play ball and help workout solution that would allow FO4 and Skyrim mods to work on PS4 without need for modders to create special PS4 versions of mods. Sony didn't want to play ball while putting, for modding, quite low maximum amount of space allowed for mods. I think it was 900MB total, which is basically nothing when going for texture and audio mods.

afaik tho so take with salt

I'll check out the free PC upgrade, not expecting much, but the addition of a 64-bit option will be nice. Skyrim and Oblivion were hot garbage for melee/sword builds, but they can be fun for magic builds.

Sony's fault for wanting at least some technical oversight on installed mods so that they don't break the game or freeze up consoles, like a lot of people are having with the XB1 version of Fallout 4. Yeah, they're monsters.
Sony's fault for seemingly not understanding how mods work and that it is on the end user whether or not to use mods that freeze the game because the software is completely sandboxed and bethesda's scripting language can in no way damage the console

Ok

... Having the ability to tinker and fuck with everything under the hood is not a "feature" to us, it's a distraction that we find difficult to ignore.

Uhhh what? You can't play the game because there's a "mods" option in the menu?

Don't use it....

I never understood this sentiment. I was going to buy Skyrim Remaster and FO4 long before i heard anything about mods on console. Because these were games people really enjoyed regardless of mods on console.

Whether or not the PS4 version has mods generally speaking is irrelevant for a lot of people, when over 10 million Skyrim copies were sold without mods on console last gen.

I've never played with mods, so i don't see why i would care now?

You may not care but I'm not even the slightest bit interested in replaying the buggy mess with outdated combat and gameplay features that was Skyrim ps3. So unless the ps4 version is completely new, I wouldn't even buy it at all without mods let alone get it on sale or something.
Game was pretty cool ten or whatever years ago but I have to be honest after posting how I wasn't impressed with the Witcher gameplay I'd be a hypocrite if I said this was good gameplay.
On top of that most people are aware that Skyrim is like THE modding game so you're basically playing an inferior version. Sorry but it's basically the way it is. And I don't own an Xbox either.

I was super-interested when it was announced. I sank only 100 or so hours into the 360 version and stopped when I hit a glitch at the end of the Thieves Guild quest line. I eventually bought the GotY/Complete edition and did read somewhere that the glitch that halted my progress was patched, but I didn't get around to playing it again. So when this was announced, I was really excited for the possibility that I could continue my game. I guess they announced a while back that they wouldn't look into the ability to import your saves, so my excitement and interest vanished. Like someone else earlier ITT said, I would rather have a backwards-compatible Xbone version that a remaster. Being able to resume the game and playing as my old character is more important to me than mods (if I cared about mods, I would have become a PC gamer a long time ago).

I for one am glad the PlayStation 4 version will not support mods. I value the original vision that directors have for their videogames. That original, untouched vision from Todd Howard is what I want to play... not some edgy fanfic mod made by a twelve year old.

People will call me crazy and say the PC version is superior for having the option, but I don't consider it a good thing.

I don't want to taint the beauty of Skyrim with pokemons, loli mods, naked women and other vulgar stuff. So yeah, I appreciate how the PS4 version stays true to the original thing. It's actually the biggest reason I'm getting it.
Not to mention you get to experience the buggy mess the original Skyrim was in PS3 :P

Mods don't make or break a gsme. A good game is a good game with or without mods. I'll be picking this up again to check it out on ps4 pro.

Do you think those other devs are going to put literally every mod for their game on consoles?
I don't know but I'm pretty sure they'll offer more mods than Bethesda does on PS4.

The thing is we can assume one or both parties refused to come up with a solution (mod/file converting, QA, mod limitations etc) but why is Bethesda the only company with those issues as of now? Why was it advertised over a year ago as a feature for Fallout 4 and Skyrim later on if it was such an apparent issue?
Oh and how does that sound:

Other companies don't have modding on nearly the same level of scope and depth of what the creation kit can actually do. I mean shit, does anyone else offer mods over 900MB?

It's weird how much I love and hate Skyrim. I mean, it's true it's an awful lazy game in so many respects but I'll be damned if I won't spend 100 hours putting up with it.

I guess I'm getting this. Very much enjoyed Fallout 4, so it's worth a shot and Amazon's got that pre-order discount.

Bought and played through both the PS3 and 360 versions of the game. No mods combined with the $79.99 price tag here in Canada is a no go for me. Will wait for a sub $30 price to rebuy.

Skyrim on Fallout 4 engine.
Prettier but same game.

Are they even patching bugs?

Depends on if they asked permission from community patch makers to use their work as part of remake. That patch most likely fixes bugs that Bethesda didn't even knew to exist.

i just want to see more of the game so i can know whether to uninstall the vanilla version or not. just got a new PC and i don't really feel like dicking around with texture mods again, though i will if it's not much of an upgrade

either way, it's free, so i won't complain

Pretty bad situation all around. I'm not sure if I'll ever buy a Bethesda game on console again(I got FO4 against my better judgment), but this sucks for those who have PS4 as the only option. It's not a huge deal to me personally, as console won't be able to get anything that requires SKSE, of which there are 10 or 15 mods I consider essential. Skyrim vanilla is really boring after using SkyRe, ENB, etc.

Holy crap, it costs 52 euro's over here, are they high?

That's pretty expensive, even with all DLC included.

People who bought it on PSN/XBL (PS3/360) should get it for free, or just force people to put the disc in the drive... since they are upgrading PC players for free.

TBH: every PS3 Skyrim owner should get an apology letter (signed by Todd) plus the game. That version really was an embarrassment.

No Man's Sky was broken at launch and froze up a crapload of consoles but Sony didn't seem to care about that.

It is Sony's fault, plain and simple.

Yea it is kinda strange how they say they don't want the game to crash and stuff but NMS and other games have awful ports and poor performance.

I was all over it for PS4 before mod support was dropped. Pretty bummed actually.

You and me both brother. I am actually going to cancel my pre order and just wait for a steam sale. i would prefer the trophies and console experience but after replaying New Vegas with mods I would love to replay Skyrim with them.

Yep, Sony has showed that they don't really give a shit one bit about third party QA. It's hilarious to say that all of the sudden they care now.

Getting the PS4 version as I don't care about mods. Pity Bethesda didn't want to put in the extra work and expected Sony to bend over backwards for them.

Getting it for free on PC, so hopefully mod authors will convert their mods.

Don't hold your breath. Some texture stuff and maybe FO4 ESB's work right off the bat, but anything requiring SKSE will be weeks if not months away after release. Assuming SKSE devs even make updated version.

I never got around to finishing it or many of the side quests so I might get it again.

It will be on PS4 and the lack of mods doesn't bother me one bit.

Skyrim generates them endlessly just like FO4 generates settlement attacks, you can't beat all of them. Ever.

If people care so much about modding then they should do it on pc. Look at those lame mod available for Fallout 4 on Xbox one. Nowhere near all the good ones on pc. Very limited especially in what your allowed to mod too. Just a bunch of random crap not worthy
