Skyrim Special Edition - PS3 versus PS4 Graphics Comparison

Anyone have a comparison to the switch version shown? Curious which one they used footage wise but I'm on mobile. Vid looks really nice though.

The comparison we've all been waiting for.

In that commercial they used footage from the "it doesn't even exist yet" version

What about the Frame Rate?

I have watched a number of SE youtube videos today and nobody commented on the frame rate. However, the SE looked really smooth and *appeared* to be higher than 30 fps. At least there was no stuttering at all, so it shouldn't be abysmal.

Looks better, but a bit underwhelming. Was really looking forward to getting it. Been playing eso and I wanted to experience more of the worlds universe.

May get it down the road.
Hmmm if the mods on Xbox One are as good as they are in Fallout 4 I may get it sooner.

Nah it's just higher than 20.

That's not how development works.

I know, but when you have 2 completed versions of a game and showcase one, that is likely more in line with what the specs allow.

Bethesda knows the specs of the switch, I doubt they would show remaster footage if they knew it had no chance of working on it is all.

This really doesn't look any better than the vanilla game running on a PC.

But that might be my memories being clouded by playing this game modded out for years.

Doesn't look that " WOW LOOK AT THAT!"

I'm still buying it tho. Skyrim was one of my favorite games last gen and I can't play it because of my dead PS3, so it's going to be nice being able to replay it

I would like to see a comparison with the PC version vanilla. I don't lke how yellowish everything looks in the remaster.

The difference is just preferential. I am amazed they are selling this remaster with mods applied like it's something new. (coming from PC).

This game needs stuff like the Static Mesh Improvement mod at the minimum to look ok today.

Lots of stuff that you aren't really going to notice when you are running around. Framerate, however, is something that you feel the whole time.

Something that will shock ALL of you:

Despite the PS3 version of Skyrim having a dismal reputation, I was able to complete the game and obtain the platinum trophy. It was before the game even had a major patch.

I do remember a few crashes here and there, but overall the game was playable.

I am apparently in the minority.

So, it's slightly sharper for full price? I still have my GOTY copy on my 360, and that looks good enough for the art-style for me. Not to mention I have zero interest in playing through the boring fetch quests and killing countless generic Dragur again.

Does not look hot to be honest. Also still 30fps and the high price is a joke too.

And man, Bethesda games are aging badly. I thought it was a nice looking game back then, but now... it''s just ugly with poor art design.

Will the remastered pc version be easier to mod then the original pc version being 64 bit? Does that remove the need for things like skse?

Yeah, it still looks extremely dated compared to what the modding community is doing on PC. Some of that stuff is crazy.

I think this is part of my lack of interest. Although I did originally play this on the 360, I later double dipped and modded the hell out of it to a point where it looked far superior to this PS4 version. It's a shame, because I'd probably be interested in going through it again, but it's looking way too dated for me, and the mod situation isn't great either.

It won't remove the need for SKSE, but having native 64bit support will help issues caused by the game maxing out at 4gb of ram with the LAA patch with larger mods.

$60.

You'd have to a fool or incredibly desperate to want this.
There is a third option.

How about this being one of your favourite games ever and the chance to play it again after 5 years on a current system? Ain't rocket science.

That's not desperation. And I'm not a fool thanks.

Jeez, this game has aged horribly looks/style wise. Even the PS4 version looks atrocious.

I remember thinking it was it gorgeous when it first came out on PC.

How times change.

The PS4 version getting long distance windmills is a nice upgrade.

But I'm not a fan of the lighting changes. It just makes Skyrim look more...alive than it should.

Looks better. Still haven't played Skyrim. All I did was carefully configure all the mods I wanted, exactly how I wanted, do the intro a few times to make sure it was set, and then never touched it. That was a couple years ago before Fallout 4 came out. I don't have a working laptop anymore and this works for me... but not right now.

Question for PC modders:

Do we think that now that the exe will be a 64 bit app, setting ugrids above 9 will be more stable?
