Skyrim Special Edition (PS4/XB1) announced

If you call horrible combat, a total of 4 voice actors in the whole game, laughable AI, an 'epic' story let down by terrible acting and even worse cut scenes the best ever sure.

It was enjoyable enough for its time sure, but it's not a great game by any stretch.

You opinion certainly isn't shared by many, at all.

Of course! But the Console peasants get their feelings hurt every time we mention it.....

So this is another attempt to introduce mods to console which at some point they will try charging for again.... Elder Scrolls 6 perhaps.

Cynical or realistic? Stay tuned!
Lol, I don't think anyone is arguing that Skyrim still looks prettiest modded on PC.

Either way I was naive for expecting it to be like Fallout 4 and not just this, disappointed in how it looks graphically -not enough for me to re-buy it personally.

Is that first one an actual screen from the "remaster"? Ugh

Yes, it is. But it's on a different time of day compared to the bottom picture. It's also a heavily compressed facebook pic.
Yeah I guess it's the sunlight on a cloudy day or something but still. Good for those who never played the origina I guess. I know I'm repeating myself here but I really expected more than just god rays and dynamic DOF.

gotta make that scrilla
Its turning into a joke now with special edition. I'm all for remastered versions, but not like this. The Witcher 3 edition was cheaper and had tons of quality made stuff included etc, and all you get with Skyrim Remastered is a f'ing wishing well. Pfffft. smh.

Could be a wide variety of things and most likely due to sunrise. The other footage from the Special Edition didn't have that orange filter. Or do you a think a sunrise looks like the latter picture?

I really liked the comparison parts in that short footage. I wonder what else have been improved. Will creatures and people look better too? Any gameplay improvements? I assume all DLC?

I have never played Skyrim, is it a similar game to The Witcher? The reason i ask is because i couldn't get into the Latter - I think it was the combat system more than anything

Ah man....if they only had said "and it's out right now." That would have fucking completed it. Long wait!

Hoping it's not just graphical upgrades but also for things like melee combat and third person camera. I for one love to use third person in Fallout 4, so would be nice if they improve it for this. But i kinda doubt that.

Honestly, I don't think it really looks that great, especially compared to modded Skyrim.

I can't complain with free though. Maybe I'll check it out as long as my mods aren't all completely broken.

If it was the combat, then you'll enjoy Skyrim even less. But it's similar in the sense that it's a huge medieval open world game with lots to do, so there's that.

I actually preferred the combat in Skyrim over The Witcher. Whilst there is a lot of complexity and skill involved in the Witcher, the combat doesn't feel as direct as Skyrim and it feels more like an Souls game. This isn't a criticism btw, I can really see the appeal of it, it just doesn't feel as rewarding to me personally. I had a similar issue to games like Dragon Age.

Do you think a sunrise looks like the top picture? I must still be in bed when the whole world turns piss yellow.

Skyrim was my first Elder Scrolls game and I loved it. Absolutely loved it, put in around 130 hours. But trying to start a new game on it post Witcher 3- damn near impossible to appreciate it. The way that game did storytelling in a fantasy world- it's going to take something really special to improve upon.

It's just not the same, having this huge rather loud PC standing next to the TV. It's not ideal. I just want to play this game either rather uncomfortably on PC or comfortably on PS4 on my couch.

If your pc is loud you got a cooling problem. You're right it's not the same it's better playing it on pc on your tv.

Witcher 3 is phenomenal, but it's a different experience than Elder Scrolls. TES will never improve upon the kind of storytelling that the Witcher excels at, and that's a good thing.

Agreed. If a desktop PC is louder than your average game console, investing in a third party cooler would be a good idea.

The Elder Scrolls games have never been known for their "great combat" so the chances are you wont be liking it much either.

This looks like a messy attempt to modernize an old game by placing too much colorful foliage because who ever made the mod assets has no sense of restraint and couldn't bear to place trees logically or have the flower colors fit the locale. It's like after 10 hours making a tree asset they couldn't handle just putting one or two new placements. They couldn't put their new moss asset in just one or two new places. They crowded the street.

And that's why mod culture is less appealing to me than having a more typical looking remaster, though I'm thankful this new remaster does add some effects and replace a lot of textures.

I don't understand why so many people are that happy. It's a game released quite recently and i would assume everyone was waiting for the sixth episode and would be disappointed by that announce instead.

..... Am i wrong ?
