Sleeping Dogs PC-exclusive features (DX11, HD textures, etc)

from GTA IV

Even in the console versions the streets were very packed.

Don't know what you're attempting here.

Ok now I'm seriously considering this despite my large backlog because it looks like it's getting great PC treatment.

Am I right to assume this will probably play better with a pad? Comfy couch accessibility may push me over the edge

I can't decide whether to get this AND Darksiders 2 on the PC or one or the other on the console. After seeing this video, I'm pretty certain I'm getting this one on the PC but Darksiders 2 I'm still not sure about.

Starting to feel that way now. You see a lot of games that come out for console now also being ported to PC. The only reason I turn on my console is to play the console exclusive games.

Last time I turned on my console was to play Xenoblade the day it came to NA. That's how bad it is for me on console lol.

Yeah, exactly... unless things change, I don't see myself really keen on buying a next gen console. Then again, the majority of games I play and that I enjoy on console, are games that come from Japan so... who knows what'll happen next gen? =/

Wow. HDAO (aka the system raper) and super sampling? I might need all three 7970s to max this out.

With Saints Row 3, one was enough (which is good, because the game had negative crossfire scaling due to CPU issues). I wish it wasn't digital only, but at least the price is reasonable. $60 would be a no-go for a download.

Been that way for more than three years for me now. I'll probably sell my 360 after I beat Halo 4. This generation lasted for so long that it has died before the next one came.

Looks really good. Still want to know if the HiRes DLC pack is what we all think it is, and most importantly when it will go live and at what cost.

Welp, it's time to build myself a gaming PC.

1000$ - is it enough? I'm completely green when it comes to pc gaming.

Its not 60$. Its 50$ MSRP. With 45$ on Steam right now, with many gaffers using GMG to get it for about 30$ Launch day.

Half price, day 1, and more game.

I build mine last year.
2500i CPU
8Gig Ram
GT5600ti

And the rest for 700$. 100$ will net you an even better one and my PC basically crushes anything release outside the very demanding titles(Like Witcher 2 on Ultra)

I was told the game has a frame limiter too. I know most PC people don't care about that since we all love 60fps but I'm probably going to use it so I can cap it at 30 and make the most out of all these special extra options. I wish all games included an option like that...and a FOV slider.

Maybe speaking too soon, but Eidos/Square-Enix is benevolent towards PC gaming. What pushed me to pre-purchased Sleeping Dogs was its history. Normally I'm fine waiting for the problems to be sorted out.

Wait did I miss a coupon code or something? When I go to green man it is $44 , usa if that matters.

You did, there's been a bunch of 20% and 25% off coupons, although right now it looks like they're rotating round some 30% off specific pre-order coupons this week, so if you're lucky you might see the cheapest price yet soon.

I wish Dark Souls got this kind of love for the PC, Im starting to regret preordering it instead of this.

They have a full video showcasing the advantages of PC while we dont even have a screenshot for DS :(

Anyway, I love that the game has Triple screen and 3D support out of the box :)

It does. I got PC code last week. It's a very full-featured port, though I can't speak to the texture stuff, since that isn't available yet.

Wait, why is this even a question? Get both on PC at Greenmangaming with Coupons. I don't know which ones are available right now, but keep your eyes open for some.

Yup if you have a gaming PC there is like zero reason to get the console version especially for single player games such as those.

Kind of a good point, should have preordered this as they are actually catering to the PC market. As Namco just wanted to do it the cheapest way possible, ofc I got Dark Souls for $20 after trade ins and coupons off Green Man Gaming.

I just watched the entire Joystiq Sleeping Dogs Stream that was linked, gameplay overall looks pretty solid. Fighting is similar to Arkham games, gunplay looks similar to Max Payne, and graphics looked pretty solid. Definitely a game I will watch, especially with the PC improvements.

I think Square made a ton of money off of the new Deus Ex on PC and realized that the better the game is on PC, the more likely we are to buy it.

Here is a link to the youtube video of that stream btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2ENzKqRsus

Sign, my PC can't even get DMC4 to 1080p 60fps at the lowest texture resolution. Won't be able to take advantage of this.

Yeah I was able to preorder DS for 33 bucks with a coupon, and sleeping dogs is really tempting right now, so much love for the port, hopefully Tomb Raider will get the same treatment.

A PC game. "1080p", "HD textures", "Keyboard and Mouse Support including Key Remapping". Gotta love it.

The advanced pc graphics features all sound awesome though.

I don't really get this optional HD texture pack trend, why not just include them with the game?

wont fit on the dvd - europe is getting a retail copy

plus not everyone wants it, better to just optionally offer it on steam

Probably because its a massive download and would be hard for certain people to get if through digital distribution.

For example if you have extremely slow internet or live in an area that has bandwidth caps. If you don't care about the extra visual fidelity or don't have the card to handle it anyways, why force them to go through the headache for something they don't need?
