Oh yeah. I forget all about that stage. Let me correct my mistake on the list.

Interviewer: I was surprised by how much content the 3DS version has.
Sakurai: Truthfully, I thought about having less characters in the 3DS version. But, I didn’t want there to be a superior version. On top of making each version satisfactory, we developed each version to have the same number of characters and play the same way. It was important to not have an inferior version.
If Mewtwo is the only DLC, then it is time for Sakurai to retire.
This is what was going through my mind.
Unfortunately, I get the impression that the Chorus Kids were cut for the same reason as the Ice Climbers: 3DS parity. Here's an excerpt from a recent interview with Sakurai:
Less characters, plural. Thanks, 3DS version.

There was no way the 3DS and Wii U games were ever going to comparable. They should have just went all out on the Wii U with technical characters and left the 3DS version to be a light, on the go, Smash. But, I didnt want there to be a superior version

You can't be serious.
It's probably time for Sakurai to retire either way
>_>

100%. A complete lack of interesting new features, missing several highly requested characters, and minimal post-release support? The man may just need to move on. He is a fantastic game designer, but he isn't reading the fan base well, and that is what matters. What a shame. Hopefully they'll return to the Rhythm Heaven character concept next time.
You can't be serious.
Maybe I'm missing something, but "rhythm" is between Plankton, Touch, Nintendogs... what makes you 100% sure it's a character emblem rather than a stage?I reorganized it into a list.
Take a look at bold and underlined words, we haven't seen those emblem yet.
Miiverse stage is coming as DLC stage but I don't think Mii Plaza stage would be same stage as Miiverse stage. I could be wrong tho.
I found it interesting that Dairy were planned to be in the game.
It's between Duck Hunt and Mega Man for the newcomers. The stage series are all after the playable series. (In Touch and Plankton's case, they're after the Brawl characters)Maybe I'm missing something, but "rhythm" is between Plankton, Touch, Nintendogs... what makes you 100% sure it's a character emblem rather than a stage?
Uhhh... like who? I'm having a hard time thinking of characters with an actual chance to get in that aren't in. Basically, Blaziken, Wolf, Impa and Dark Samus are the only ones I can think of, and they're such minor additions. Folks like K Rool and Ridley are never getting in, no matter who the developer is, so it's not even worth mentioning them.missing several highly requested characters

It's not like he cut Dedede to add in some clones or cut 3 vets and 4 new comers for Sonic at the final hour of the game, that would be ridiculous and worth complaining about.
Both of those happened
Where did you hear this?First, in the playable character folder, theres a fighter folder listed as "Rhythm."

Thank GodHe didn't mention it, but the reference to Plankton means Hanenbow was cut as a retro stage as well
Sakurai has already stated that there will be no further DLC after Mewtwo.
No plans =/= no DLC.Sakurai has already stated that there will be no further DLC after Mewtwo.

ui_mark_db has references to rhythm (in the fighter section)

Combine that with this quote:However, what I can say now about paid DLC is that we aren't working on anything at the moment.
And it seems highly possible that they're using Mewtwo to judge rather or not they'll do DLC and how they'll do it.As for why Mewtwo isnt paid content from the start, releasing that character is an experiment meant to act as a foothold in content distribution; thus its simply meant as part of the service were providing to gamers.
That's the polite way of saying no.『Inaba Resident』;149225174 said:He said there are no current plans for other DLC right now

Yeah Nintendo has done/currently does a lot of dumb shit but I'm struggling to think of anything that could be dumber than sitting on the biggest goldmine in DLC ever.
Mewtwo is one thing but seriously, why stop there. As crammed as the game is, I truly feel like there could be more with little effort.
Give us Lucas and Wolf, there's no reason not to just throw them in by keeping them as they were in Brawl. (Just a texture update and balancing tweaks, right?)
And what about past stages as well? Rainbow Ride, Corneria, Pirate Ship and a third Pokemon Stage were all severely lacking. Not to mention all Mother 3 references being nuked and F-Zero getting the complete shaft. At the very least just up-port Magicant and Mute City from the 3DS version.
As for new characters and stages, well that's a little hairier as it would require a lot more work but I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say Nintendo has me by the balls and could charge an unjustified amount and I'd still pay it. And do you know what? I'd thank them for it. If there's one game where there can never be to much DLC, it's Smash.
Sakurai has said they will include characters based on franchises they're planning to return to, and they've announced a new Rhythm Heaven game. Advance Wars is cool and it would be good for them to return to it, but they're ABSOLUTELY returning to Rhythm Heaven. It would have been a great addition.
And yeah, I love that DHD was included.
It should be wrestling man+announcer.

It'd be smart to do DLC, but if Sakurai for whatever reason doesn't want to work on it and doesn't want it to be done without him, it might be smarter not to. Smash prints money and Sakurai is a key part of making the series. It might be smarter to stay on good terms with one of their most talented game designers.

Sakurai's been blunt as hell about things before, such as Ridley not being playable. I think he'd flat out say no.
