Strange that they chose the name "Pikmin & Olimar" over just "Olimar" or "Captain Olimar".

And his size still bugs me... he really should have been pikachu size or smaller.

But those are my only complaints! He is going to be such an awesome and interesting addition to the game. I know some people never appreciated the ice climbers, but I LOVED the unique gameplay they offered. PT looks to offer the same, and now we have Olimar.

I won't be able to provide that figure until about 24 hours after the update hit, so that I can gauge how many pints of tears of joy were poured.

This game is going to take down nintendo wifi connection. Anyone agree with me. I can see this being a disaster.

I actually kind of agree with this, yes. If Nintendo's not planning to spend a huge wad of their profits from Smash on upgrading their servers, they better well start.

Pikmin 3 would be a much bigger megaton. I'm happy to see pikmin in SSBB but if anything it just makes me want pikmin 3 even more.... come on nintendo.

I am really interested to see how well balanced brawl will be. It looks like it will be a damn hard job to do it, but i guess it is sakurai so hopefully he pulls something out of the bag.

Look closely at the receipt. The title of whatever it is is too short. It says "WII" at the end which means that the title couldn't have been long. Otherwise it would be cut off. If you have an EB Games receipt lying around, take a look and you should see that the SKU title is probably cut off if the name of the game is long.

Totally. Ice Climbers team is great, the Zelda/Sheik optional switching is great, the Pokemon Trainer's forced switching is great, and Olimar's dependence on his Pikmin is also great. They've really gone all out to make people care about these characters, even people who have no familiarity with or nostalgia for any of them.

I know that the box itself is fake. The boxart, however, is almost definitely the final boxart for the US. So people saying "old boxart" is what was confusing me, because there is no "newer" US boxart.

I think the whole server issue is why the American and JPN release dates are so far apart. Japan with its less online centric game focus will be sort of a stress test on the game.

Two plus weeks isn't enough to refix any errors but is a good enough time to do some preliminary work on the network.

Yes, I fully expect both GAF and WFC being down on the 10-11th. I won't care too much as I'll be unlocking characters.

Also, I expect one more big character reveal this month, maybe day and date of the JPN launch. By then though the game should be pretty well spoiled either by magazines or someone getting the disk out and ripped. So it won't mean too much.

Originally I believed that every franchise with a unique icon had to have a playable char, but now it seems like having a stage is enough to get a unique icon. (Ever since the Pictochat update... I just really don't believe that there will be a "DS-related" character...)

Smash does act as somewhat of a trojan horse, however. If it weren't for Marth and Roy in Melee, the Fire Emblem series may never have made it here. I am sure someone at EAD is thinking about a Kid Icarus revival thanks to Brawl.

Just on the Melee list (as red) it looks like. Maybe Sakurai has had the idea of including Red since Melee, but couldn't fit him in that game?

Looks like I was wrong about Pit and ZSS being on the list. In Pit's case, however, he has always been heavily requested by Americans primarily I think... and these were Japan-only polls.

In any case, I think it's really really apparent that Sakurai listens very carefully to the fans.
