Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread: Goodbye, Cherry-don

Apparently I"m the biggest (and maybe only) support of items/coin mode/single button.

You may think I'm joking, but I've written so many articles about this stuff.

Coin/Single button may be a "joke" as far as game design goes (as well as invisible, tiny, and giant) but there's something to be learned from playing them.

The worst is when they start the week with an item update(pun to the item fans in the previous argument not intended)

Please Sakurai, don't do those anymore!

...Which reminds me. I hope SSBB actually keeps track of our favored match type this time. I never understood why SSBM saved the Item Switch data and the stages you cut out from random selection, but couldn't register that you always played in stock with 5 lives, or whatever your preference was.
But considering that the game will have to save our My Music settings, I guess they'll probably have thought of preserving the Time/Stock options as well. I hope.

Yeah it always annoyed me having to change Time to Stock and Friendly Fire from Off to On every time I wanted to play.

Beginning of week updates:

Moves - May 28th (Pit), August 20th (Link)
Music - June 4th (Yoshi), July 16th (Star Fox)
Character profile - June 11th (Fox), June 25th (Zelda), August 13th (Pokemon Trainer), October 1st (Lucas)
Final smash - June 18th (Link), July 30th (Donkey Kong)
Assist trophy - July 2nd (assist trophies + Samurai Goroh)
Smash 101 - July 9th (Combos)
Stage - July 23rd (Rumble Falls)
Item - August 6th (Smoke Ball), August 27th (Superspicy Curry), September 17th (Golden Hammer)
Story mode - September 3rd (Pit's Descent)
Poke Ball - September 10th (Munchlax)
Game mode - September 24th (Trophies)

We actually haven't had that many weeks begin with an item, but the ones that did have all been fairly recent. >_> We might be in for doom this week!
(Reminder: I predicted a double update of an F-Zero item and Zero Suit Samus' moves.)

I'd say that timed is the preferred way to play under the assumption that it's a 3-4 player match (why you would do anything else is beyond me). The running tactic is completely useless under this context and stock leads to camping.

This is true. Even though I'm usually one of the two who survives 3-4 minutes longer than others in stock, it still brings me down just because I know the other person sitting there is getting bored. Like their aura's rubbing off on me.

Tonight. Although I will say that I doubt they will start so big this week. Who knows. I suck at predicting anyways.
At least nobody's tracking how many wrong predictions people make. :D We're all just focused on who's right, since that only happens like once for every 318 predictions or something...

Fantastic. :lol

For tonight's update there are 3 types of items, and two haven't been done in a while (pokemon and regular items) so I think it has the best chance right now. That or music.

I think we might have already had this discussion like 250 pages ago, but I can't remember for sure...

I can't decide if I'd prefer

mega.jpg

or

mega_man_Maverick_Hunter_X_061205.jpg

Hmmm. Original Mega Man is more classic (though not necessarily more nostalgic for me... I played a ton of the X games as a kid) while X is more cool. Original probably screams "Nintendo" more than X... but I don't know, not necessarily... X really makes me think of the SNES. :P

Original has already been in a fighting game, while X hasn't had the chance yet! (At least I think he hasn't?)

I love them both... damn!

Oh well, either would own as long as we DO NOT get this:

It'll be our luck that Megaman makes it in as his .EXE incarnation.

Mega Man has far too many attacks to make a sensible character, and his basic ones can already be done by some Smash characters (a charged blast)

He could be so awesome PLUS HE IS MEGA MAN GODDAMMIT

:(

To be serious though, I don't think we can make the "They wouldn't be able to make a good moveset!" argument on any character. They can always come up with something.

No, there's one other truly logical choice.

Honestly, either design is fine by me. While I think that his old design didn't need changing, the Kojima design isn't that bad either. Besides, that's the one he had in DMTV World Fighters, so it's probably more likely (if he gets in).

Of course, they could always go for a compromised, yet classic, design:

He already has a perfect moveset, provided by the whip and his items, as well as the fact that his descendant, Richter had his own "Up+B" and "Final Smash"-like attacks, so they could easily be incorporated into Simon.

Your right, Megaman has far too many viable moves for them to even consider putting him in as a fighter. And that charged blast is, and will work exactly the same as Samus' theres no possible way it can be different. I guess we can settle for Zero since his sword will make for a unique moveset.

Just defending my
Mega
Man!!

Simon would be awesome but he really should put on some pants

Only Classic Link can rock the no-pants look:

CLASSIC MEGA MAN OR BUST.

...Well, no, there's one other option I'd take. That would be if they used the Mega Man ZX version, had a human form that you switch to and from via Down + B (basically granting two third-party characters in one), and the alternate costumes were Vent/Aile or the two characters from ZX Advent.
But if any of those didn't happen, I'd rather they just stick with classic Mega Man.

Pants are for wusses.

Real men wear leather skirts over loincloths. Or at the very least, extremely tight Sneaking Suits.

I predict a Mondayton.

Maybe even a third party character like Megaman. (it'd be the original though, not X) Not Sonic, because if he is in the game they'll want as much suspense as possible. :lol

This version of Zero has an ABUNDANCE of attacks and weapons that would be great

I mean he has been in 4 gameboy advance games and two DS games

megaman_zero001.jpg

although if you're going to have mega man, it wouldn't make sense to have this version of Zero

The ultimate duo would be Zero from the X series AND Megaman X

please make x's feet smaller...

The big Capcom event is on the 17th, and supposedly there's going to be a megaton of sorts. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the date they show off Megaman in Brawl. After all, Konami showcased Snake at their TGS presentation.

I would argue that Mega Man has the most move options of just about any character that could possibly be in Smash Bros. The dozens upon dozens of Master Weapons he's accumulated over the years would all (or mostly) make good moves.

His Mega Buster would, of course, have to be his standard B attack. Maybe something like the Rolling Cutter for his forward-B. His recovery move could be the Top Spin and his down B could be...Charge Kick?

I play too many Mega Man games. =(

Of course, knowing Capcom, if Mega Man made it in, we'd get his ugly as sin Battle Network version. I mean, the icon for the 20th anniversary emblem is the freaking Star Force Mega Man. What the HELL, Capcom?

By the way, putting in my two cents on the No Damage Clear bonus, I find the easiest way to do it is by spamming Donkey Kong's down-B in All-Star mode on Very Easy. That way, you don't have to deal with getting cheaply hit by Master Hand (or, God help you, Crazy Hand) in Classic.

I hope it's MEGAMAN.EXE to screw with you all. The series isn't bad really, not a platformer, but cool it it's own way. I know one of my Mega Man obsessed friends loves 'em almost as much as the platformers.

The first Nintendo World tournament took this format. Let's just say it was one of the worst things ever made. Free for Alls are politics. People making temporary alliances to screw over stronger players and backstabbing at convenient times after the good player has no chance of winning.

Well, that's how that tournament went anyway. And yes, items were off.

The second Nintendo World tournament was 1v1, standard rules, and went a lot smoother.

That'd be more of a megaton for Nintendo than Capcom, though... But I guess it depends. Who's been calling a potential megaton for that date? (e.g. Games media, forum people, etc. >_>)

While Classic Mega Man is probably most deserving of a spot, I'd prefer and hope for Megaman X. Always seemed like the best version of Megaman to me.

To be honest in terms of Megaman. I'd prefer Rock over X, definitely!!!

But I still wouldn't mind X.

But if they pull some shit like Network Transmission Megaman or Megaman Volnutt.

Heads will roll...

WAIT GUYS I have the best Mega Man related idea ever.

Okay so they should put in Classic Mega Man as a character, and then....

....

ALSO ADD PLAYABLE DR WILY :O

wily.jpg

He could ride a totally sweet mech the entire time you play as him and shoot missiles and lightning bolts and use a grappling claw or some shit.

/\ Kinda like that only maybe with the machine having arms and legs.

yessss
