I really doubt we'll ever see Daisy (and Waluigi) in Smash Bros. They're restricted only to spin off sport/party games, never appearing even in any of the RPGs. There's just no reason to include them over other Mario characters, even Bowser Jr. is more likely than those 2.

But even Daisy is a fairly old character. Her first character design for the Mario Land concept art does not look that different than the Daisy we see in spin-off games.

And her being established as Luigi's 'partner' goes back even to the NES days.

I highly doubt she'll be in Brawl though. Maybe an AT.

I realize now that my message indicated that she only appeared in sport/party games, but I do know her backstory, even though I've never played Super Mario Land.

She did appear there, but she didn't really do anything in that game besides being the damsel in distress for Mario in that one portable spin off. While that doesn't mean she couldn't be playable with a made up moveset, it makes her extremely unlikely to appear before other Mario characters - from SML itself, even Tatanga seems more likely to be playable than her (they'd just need to make his ship smaller... it could be an interesting character, I think).

However, now that you've reminded me of Assist Trophies... I could see Daisy and even Waluigi appearing among the Assists...

If she is in Brawl, I hope they base it off that model. Also, for the Waluigi romance game Daisy should be Pauline's best friend that tries to warn the wickid ways of Waluigi who "supposedly" runs some dirty tricks against Mario and Luigi's plumbing buisness.

Huh? Captain Falcon had a Blood Falcon costume in SSBM, complete with a different symbol on his back. Peach also had Daisy's dress as one of her costumes (though her hair only changed colors, so it wasn't identical to Daisy's).

That's a re-skin, rather than a separate 'identity'. This is why I gave Kuma and Panda as an example. Panda is technically an alternative costume for Kuma, but she actually has her own identity and story mode (Tekken 5).

What I was thinking of wasn't as deep as that; I only imagined that the voice for Sonic would change to that of his other 'costumes', while retaining his moves and 'identity'. However, I've backpeddled on the idea somewhat after spending longer than 5 seconds thinking about what it would be like if it actually happened (ie. Annoying).

I honestly have no idea and put this avatar just for kicks (and because I'm currently playing through MM2, X5 and Zero 2). I do hope that we get to fight against a swarm of ROBs at some point though. Like, they keep coming and you have to survive for a given amount of time.

I wouldn't have a problem with it either way, even though I'd always pick the color/costume that looks more like X if given the possibilty. I like the dash better than the slide though, but that's just me.

I'll tell you this while I'm still sane, if Mega Man is in and you ever see me bitching about him being in Brawl for some reason, find a way to create something that lets you punch me in the face over the Internet. I don't really understand the Waluigi hate. He's derivative, yes, but he's got a lot of personality, certainly more than characters like Bowser Jr. or even Toad. I'm not necessarily saying he should be in Brawl, but he's not a bad character. The only characters I really hate and don't want in Brawl are Krystal, Bowser Jr., and Cloud (who won't be in, thankfully).

People are speculating it will be Sakurai because their wishful thinking is getting the best of them.

We haven't gotten a character since King Dedede. Sakurai likes to space out the character updates. We're due for one on Sunday night.

Third-party characters tend to get announced at events like these. We saw Snake in the original E3 trailer, of course. We learned of Sonic on the famous Tuesdayton (one of the most epic nights in recent memory) and got him that very night.

And it IS Mega Man's twentieth anniversary. He's been a Nintendo staple since the days of the NES. He featured alongside Nintendo characters in Captain N. He's practically an honourary Nintendo mascot. Only Sonic was ever more likely than him to get in, since I don't think anyone saw Snake coming.

I'm not trying to jinx it. I'm hoping for the best, but bracing myself for the worst.

I don't necessarily think the special guest is going to be Sakurai though. That part is probably unrelated to smash bros.. I think what is going to go down is we'll get a press release and a new 'joins the brawl' trailer will be shown.

If Megaman is not shown tonight, it severely SEVERELY hurts his chances of making it in the game IMO. Tonight is the best possible time to announce him, the last Capcom event (or even Nintendo-related event for that matter, AFAIK) before Brawl launches. It's always possible Capcom agreed not to advertise his inclusion at all before the game's release... but that just seems unlikely to me with an icon like Megaman, especially considering the attention Sonic and Snake have been given.


Edit: Oh yeah btw, Megaman was among the characters at the top of Sakurai's almighty sacred Character Poll! (You know, the one that clued many of us in to predicting Dedede, Diddy Kong, and Lucas months ago! )

If it turns out Megaman is not in the game, I am pretty sure the only possible reason for it would be Capcom not allowing it. If we want to speculate on whether or not he's in, thats the point to focus on. And Capcom is pretty generous with the Megaman license when it comes to cameos, right? (Though I don't know if he's ever had a cameo in a game not being developed by them... anyone know?)

I don't believe so, though Mega Man has been in so many games that I could very well be wrong.

Nintendo published Mega Man 6 in the US, though, and Mega Man was in Captain N. Take that as you will.

Oh, I see. I just sort of jumped into the topic, and thought people were expecting a Dojo update tonight.

People just like to be drama queens about that kind of thing, but then again, I do twitch a bit whenever I learn that Shadow will be making an appearance in a new Sonic game.

Well, there's a pretty big difference between the two.

Say I like Tekken, but I don't like Kuma. I'm not going to bitch because Kuma's in the game. I just don't play as him. However, if Shadow's in a Sonic game, there's an astronomically high chance that I will be forced to play as him.

I mean, if Bowser Jr.'s in the game, what exactly are the haters afraid of? That they'll have to play as him in adventure mode? Oh noes crime against nature wtf

There are actually very, very few characters I actually despise. Some to different extents, though. For example, Bowser Jr. doesn't really bother me because you never have to play as him and he rarely appears beyond in a boss capacity. Krystal more or less ruined Star Fox (or at least serves as a potent symbol of its downfall) so seeing her bothers me. Cloud and Shadow I hate for pretty much the same reasons as Krystal, though Cloud lacks the furry element (but he has the "pretty boy with weird hair" element); they both made their respective debuts in games that ruined (for me) series that I loved and tend to not appear in good games.

Really, I don't hate Bowser Jr. as much as I do Krystal, Cloud, or Shadow. In fact, if he had merely joined the ranks of the Koopalings and not replaced them, I probably wouldn't even mind him that much.

It doesn't hurt my enjoyment of the game, but I want Bowser Jr. to stop existing and being included in Brawl would probably guarantee he continues getting exposure for at least another decade. They should just retcon him out of existence.

Bowser Jr. doesn't get many vocal detractors because, at least I feel, it is understood that we all hate him. Just like the daylight sky is normally blue and the Earth is an imperfect sphere, we hate Bowser Jr. These are just the facts of life.

As there are a limited amount of characters slots, we have a zero sum situation. Each slot that goes to a character you hate/dislike is one less for a character you like. Given the nature of the game (fanservice cross-over), it's not surprising that people are more attached and vocal about their character preferences.

That would've been awesome. The Koopalings rise up, hijack the Doom Ships, and Mario would have had to fight them in the captain's cabins, SMB3 style.

My hate for Bowser Jr. Boils from the love of the Koopalings. Although I don't think Bowser Jr. is a bad character at all, its just that his presence means we likely won't see a return of the koopalings.

Personally, I don't really see Krystal as the downfall of Starfox, probably because I like the games, but also because it's not really her doing anything that at all affects the games.

She wasn't the reason Fox was on Dinosaur Planet. It wasn't her yammering that made Assult 7/10ths a ground based game. And really, It wasn't her that instated the time limits or control scheme that people seem, for some reason, not to be able to manage. Hell, I could blame Peppy's leaving the team for Assaults suck.

Meh, beating a dead horse here. And I do get where you're coming from Iam Canadian. I just tend to hate useless characters generally, so my hate covers all of Fox's team the moment they get chased, Aries, and the whole cast in Sonic 360.

Galaxy actually improved my opinion of bowser junior a great deal. He came off more as mischivious instead of just annoying I guess. Maybe its because he wasn't the focus of most of the game like Sunshine and New Super Mario Bros..

Although I don't feel that Smash really needs him to be in the game, I honestly wouldn't care if he was thrown in.

He is definately the far lesser of the 'evils'

edit: right now I am imagining his awesome final smash that includes all of the koopalings.

The Koopalings are unlikely to return not only due to Bowser Jr, they'd require 7 new 3d models and 7 new V.As. Back in Mario 3 and World, they were mostly clones and head/pallet swaps, so there wasn't such problem...

I had been replaying Mario 3 recently, and I've noticed that there's someone from that game even more overlooked than the Koopalings...

If I wanted a certain in that I felt would be perfect for Brawl and somehow she:lol didn't make it in, I would just think it would be a missed oppotunity for a forgotten character to be remember for maybe just one more time.

I want atleast a few characters that are complete suprises. By now, we already have a decent idea of what characters will be in and that's no fun.
