Mei-Ling! Snake #2 changed his.....camouflage?

Mmmmhm...

A bit off topic, but I really want the Purple Coin Challenge song from Mario Galaxy is a song to fight to in Smash Brawl. Mainly because it has an excerpt-reprise of Gusty Garden and I've been listening to a ripped mp3 of it while playing Smash Melee.

Yeah, I have pretty much no life.

A lot of the orchestrated tracks in Galaxy would be great for brawling.

Another off topic note...

Does anyone find it ironic that they got rid of Mario's Down+B and replaced it with FLUDD to reflect his games more...

...Yet he only uses his old Down+B from Melee in his newer, better game Mario Galaxy.

WOW this update is cool! some of you people are crazy.
These color swaps actually make the characters look totally different instead of looking like a single color overlay layer done in photoshop =O

Looks like my first character will be Dark Link >;)

I second this.

Man, the OP is too slow to update. I don't always feel like sifting thru 5 pages of comments to find the latest news.

If you can barely maintain an official thread, don't create one in the first place.

It's only a day behind. Not even a day, more like a few hours.

Chill out.

:lol
Because the OP as nothing better to do than prioritize daily weekday updates for over six months ahead of everything else in their life.

Piss off please, I mean this in the nicest way possible ;)

Yeah, that's very nice. Go back to GameFAQs where it's totally cool to be a JERK!

The pace of updates is entirely my fault, I'm afraid.

For the past few months I've been sending the updates to Ant so that he can simply upload them, as I think he was finding the daily grind of setting up each new update a bit wearing.

I don't always - due to pressure of work or family life - manage to get the updates to him on the day, and I've occasionally missed a couple of days but I always try to make sure he has the updates promptly and he always ensures that they go up quickly after he receives them. In addition, I've been updating the character profile page, stage profile page, assist trophy page, archive, gallery and music download pages as soon as possible after every new update, as well as trying to make sure the OP itself is kept neat & fresh.

No, we're not as quick as we could be, and I haven't done everything I'd like to with the OP or subpages, but given the length of time the updates have been running and the pace of those updates, I don't think we do too bad a job!

Last Friday was game mode, Spectator Mode. Not sure what does to your postulations and calculations but just letting you know.
Oh, right. :o I should know better than to do these things just before I go to sleep.
Okay, so that would normally mean Thursday has to be an item + game mode in accordance with being the same update type as the one two days before it, but The Rule of Thanksgiving Miracle is still invoked and thus it goes back to being Jigglypuff + Luigi + Captain Falcon + Ness anyway. Yes, yes.

It's his down air now, though, so it's fine.

It's cool, I wasn't trying to stir up anything. I've seen worse!

Seeing as it involves the return of Ness, your Thanksgiving Miracle theory appeals to me, Jiggy.

Even if it isn't Thanksgiving for me.

At any rate, I'm not ready to bring myself to predict anything too good, not after the repeated disappointments of Novembust. At this point, I almost think we should just cut our losses and start predicting big things for a Decemberton.

...That December 3rd date is so close. More than ever now I wish the game had never been delayed. January is going to be sheer torture. D:

They're similar but it's too separate moves, in galaxy it's just a simple spin attack, the tornado is pretty different.

That said, I think he's holding out on the Galaxy content for now, but I do believe it will be in there, it would be a travesty for it not to be.

Also- great update, I always hated most of the color changes in previous games, and now it looks like a small but effective way to customize your character, instead of just an ugly palate swap.

I'm liking the bigger variation of colors in this game, especially the (OoT) Zelda colors and the Fire Mario. Overall, the colors seem to have some actual thought put into them, unlike the meaningless 'layers' which were very common in SSB(M).

BTW, the SSBM site did an update about colors too before the game's release, however, in that one, Sakurai highlighted Peach's Daisy costume and C.Falcon's Blood Falcon one, which had different models and textures. This time, however, the only example of such thing is the Pikachu screenshot, but that had always been in... I won't be surprised if there's another way to customize the character, besides color. (However, that might also just mean a "colors (II)" update... )

Best update in some time. There skins not color changes or at least most are skins.

What is he talking about with the pikachu line? I don't see where any of it come from except Ash's hat.

edit: pichu goggles? no pichu? YES!

Noticing the "Dark" schemes... Do you think it will be expanded upon in the Subspace Emissary? As in, you may actually fight these characters in story mode if you don't save them?

Here's hoping for a Dark Peach.

It says right in the update that each character has six different costumes. Calm down.

Dark Link looks damn sweet. I got really excited when I saw that. I wonder if OoT Link is in there as well.

Also, Ness skin for Lucas, PLZ!

Today would have been a stealth megaton if they had a Ness colour for Lucas.
"I-is that Ness? Oh, it's just Lucas!"

The dark theme works for some characters, but I don't think it would be appropriate on all of them. Dark Kirby would work, seeing as it would probably look like the Shadow Kirby from Amazing Mirror anyway. Dark Pikachu would just look...bizarre. I can't really envision a dark Lucas or Ness (who will be a separate character and not a colour-swap, of course), either.

I'm curious as to what the alternate colours for the Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon will look like. They're not exactly well-suited for jaunty accessories like Pikachu and Jigglypuff, so I wonder what colour schemes Sakurai will come up with. Hopefully they'll get the shiny colours for at least one of their alternates.

Oh, yes, I should provide some wrath for the "Ness as a Lucas alternate" people. Uh... *insert wrath here*

There skins not color changes or at least most are skins.

Actually, they're just color changes, not skins.

They look good because they aren't just replacing one color with another, but painting entire areas with them, but there are no different patterns or symbols on anyone's clothes (besides Pikachu's).

Edit: Ok, forget my previous posts... the pattern in Snake's camouflage is clearly different, comparing their shoulders. It's not only a yellow version of the others with black replacing the center.

It would be awesome if you can change the trainer from a boy to a girl and each has three color. I'd like it if he does indeed go with the shiny color for Jigglypuff and Pikachu.

*Goes to look up the shiny colour schemes*

Ivysaur's shiny colour isn't bad...I'm not too fond of the yellow flower, though.

Charizard's: DO WANT.

Squirtle's might not be different enough from the standard colour...

And just for fun, I checked up on the other Brawl Pokemon.

Pikachu's shiny colour just looks like standard Pikachu with a sunburn. Not different enough, I think.

Jigglypuff's shiny colours actually look more like the Brawl version of Jigglypuff than the standard colour, at least on the Diamond and Pearl sprites I'm looking at.

Mewtwo's shiny palette actually looks like one of his alternate colours in Melee.

At any rate, what I would really find cool is if the Pokeball Pokemon came out with their shiny colours at some ridiculously rare rate.

To be fair, we don't know how BRAWL Jiggly is going to look...

Squirtle's might not be different enough from the standard colour...

The shell is green and the skin has a different tone, seems to be about as different as those Mewtwo costumes in the last game.

ONM UK news i picked up from Gfaqs

Basically, they got given a demo. It's similar to the E for all one, except you could also play with a Gamecube pad and possibly Wiimote + Nunchuck. Not much interesting stuff, but here's some interesting things:

-Some new artwork is revealed. Maybe it was made by ONM, maybe not. Anyway, it's similar to the cover we've seen, but it includes more characters such as Sonic, Lucas, and
PT's Pokemon.

-There's a page revealing all known characters up to now. Basically, it's everything we know about the characters, but it appears that ONM may know something about Sheik we don't.

-ONM says this:

(About the next character to be revealed) Who will this final combatant be? Your guess is as good as ours, although we'll point the finger at Krystal, Fox McCloud's princess friend; £5 says we're right.

So what does that mean? It means ONM likes Krystal, wants her to be in Brawl and may know some info about her if she gets revealed.

-Giga Bowser can break platforms in Skyworld without attacking them, it seems.

-Wario definetely uses his Shoulder Charge from Wario Land

-The Pictochat level draws itself over the previous platforms, then the previous platforms disappear. We knew of different looks, but not about how they appear.

no plans to release a Brawl Preview Channel.

Dont think there was anything mind-blowingly new...

Slip of the tongue...erm, I mean typing fingers. I should have said "Melee" Jigglypuff, considering that we haven't seen what Jigglypuff will look like in Brawl.

I don't like the wording, final combatant.

Here's the magazine's actual wording, according to that topic from Gamefaqs:

Going on the huge range of fighters already making their first appearance in Smash Bros. Brawl, you wouldn't think there'd be more and yet, looking at the website, there's clearly a hole waiting to be filled in the newcomers section. Who will this final combatant be?

ONM's comment about Sheik:

But does she turn into Sheik? You'll have to wait and see.

Final default combatant, maybe. This would be unfortunate, but with the delay messing up the update schedule, I can unfortunately see how this could be the case. But I expect quite a few secret characters. :D

Yes, I believe that all the currently revealed Dojo characters are defaults, with Snake and Sonic being possible exceptions. Going by Sakurai's original release date, this would be about the time we'd get our final default character anyway.
