Whats wrong with slime?

What's right with slime?

Slime, in itself, is just unoriginal. It's like Enix didn't have a character equivalent to Square's Chocobo so they just picked the most reccuring creature in the game and pushed it as a mascot.

That's a hell of a time machine you just used to change history.

meh, still be weird. If a character from S-E gets in, I want that character to be a little more unique.

With cool powerz and stuff...and feet.
I still don't know how that's possible :lol

I think he is quite original. Maybe its due to his simple design that it doesn't look original but even then, through the years, and even it's own games, it has gained a lot of characteristics. Also, the most simple design is the most effective at winning hearts over. If we see another slime lookalike today, we think of that character being a copy of Slime and not the other way around.

Err, you might wanna check your facts there sport.

Slime wouldn't be a good enough option though, if Square gets a character slot it will be either a MAIN CHARACTER from a Final Fantasy or a Dragon Quest game, thats just common sense.

I want my Pikmin playable character but I don't think its going to happen :(

That means Olimar is getting announced tonight!

I wanna see a Moogle riding a Chocobo that summons Slimes and shit and other DQ monsters for its moves. Probably does some stupid Final Fantasy magic nonsense as well.

They could call it... The Awesome.

My guess:
Mog or ViVi... Probably Mog

Okay, I definitely missed this tidbit. Any idea when this issue hits? Is it really supposed to be "hands-on"?

Subscribers should receive it in the last week and half or so of October. Around October 21st I'd say. However, since the compnay in charge is now Future US, I'm not sure how it'll work. There might be a delay due to the transition. Does anyone subscribe to OXM or PSM? When do those issues come?

Nintendo Power said: Nintendo Power brings you the first hands-on preview of the Wii game every Nintendo fan has been aching to play-Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Let the havoc begin!

MasterAJ22 said:
But it's Nintendo Power, so it'll just be 14 pages of hands on with everything we already know. And it's Nintendo Power, so it won't even be biased as much as it will give no impressions. Just statements about what you can do in the game. :-/

Er Nintendo Power's articles are pretty well written. Either way, they're not the ones writing it. I think it'll be new staff. Future US is the publisher for that issue. It'll be their first issue of NP.

I'm kind of hoping for a DQ Hero if a Square-Enix character gets. (Speaking in the realm of realism, anyway. There are at least a dozen minor characters--or major characters from minor SE series--that I'd rather see.)

If nothing else, it might be another way to get more female characters in Smash, since the DQIII, IV, and IX heroes had gender selection. And maybe V and VI for that matter, but I never played them so I don't know.

What is so good about this game? Why does this thread get so many responses?

Perhaps you'll understand in the future, Junior.

No, but actually, this is looking up to be the best game for Nintendo and fighting fans alike in the history of Nintendo and fighting games.

I hope that's a joke, but nonetheless I can't help myself.

-Until LittleBigPlanet, SSBB will continue to be the only major representative of 2D gameplay on a home console. And after LBP it'll be one of only two major representatives.

-It's a true aerial fighting game. Not a fighting game that happens to have an interesting aerial component, but a game geared toward forcing aerial situations.

-It has 36 video game composers arranging its soundtrack.

-Multiple famous franchises are being brought together under one umbrella. Some people, inevitably, are interested specifically because one or two of these franchises has had such a great impact on their gaming past that they need to have anything related to it. Around NeoGAF* this is known as The Amir0x Effect.
*in my mind

-There are literally hundreds of options to customize the VS matches so that people can play in whatever manner they want.

I could probably go on, but actually I'm getting restless. Just play SSBM or something; it'd be a lot faster than listening to me.

- Smash Bros site updates every weekday and people like to make predictions
- The presence of Snake makes it a possibilty for additional 3rd party characters
- Smash Bros was Nintendo's best selling console franchise last gen
- Brawl will be even bigger than Melee because Wii is more popular than Gamecube ever was
- It's online

The poster above(EDIT: Make it 2 above) listed some of the less obvious reasons why this game has so much hype. Seriously, if you can't honestly tell why so many people are interested in this game, I don't know what to say to you. Really I don't. Well, except this of course:

Every time I see this, I jerk off to thoughts of Peach and Pikachu.

Sine this week has been crappy for the most part, I think they'll continue the crappiness today with an item or something, then end off the week with a new stage or something.

People who say that Slimes shouldn't be in should get thrown off a building and into an inferno

B: Elasto Blast
Smash B: Slime Knight
Down B: Dig
Up B: Float (basically like in DQ Heroes)
Final Smash: King Slime

See? Pretty simple.

I still say we're due for a stage.

Though Animal Crossing Guy is certainly a possibility considering the interview in Famitsu.

I'm still going with Shiek for today's update. Can't really think of any other character that would get revealed at this point.

I still can't see Sheik returning without being a part of Zelda. That was the whole appeal of the character in both Smash and the original context (s)he referred to.

And yeah, Sakurai hasn't ruled out the possibility of Sheik being a part of Zelda, but wouldn't exactly fit with Twilight Zelda. We'll see.

Prediction time!

Challenges/Scenarios:

Just like Smash Bros. Melee, Brawl will have many challenges ahead. Finish them to unlock stages, characters, and items!

It's Gigabowser! Who is he against...?

Hmm that box, I wonder what it is?

Surprise! Gigabower is grabbed by Snake.

FFfmmmm, RAWWWWR!

You will also be able to customize your own challenges! Create your own scenario and share it with your friends using WiiConnect24.

Come on Pikmin, I feel your update coming in the air tonight, oh Olimaro!

Character, Assist Trophy, Stage, Item, Music, All of the above. I know you're out there, I know you can hear me! ^______^

This subject has already been resolved, more or less. Shiek is confirmed to be in the game with an updated model that fits the Twilight Princess style. The odds of her being part of Zelda again are very, very good.

I wonder though if they'll make Shiek's hair darker to fit her TP model. That would be sweet. Then again I just like dark hair.
