i think i spent more time in tourny mode(bots) for melee than i did with multiplayer.

that said, I hope they fix a few things. Namely, being able to pick the layout of the tourney. If you are playing with a group of friends, you might not necessarily want the 2 best people to face each other in the first round, but in melee it was completely random seeding.

Also sucked for 1p tourney when you had 2 controllers plugged in, you had to keep switching controllers based on what part of the tree u ended up on after each match

So, does it let you specify best of 3 battles when deciding winners/losers? SSBM's single fight limit sucked.

Usually we play:
Player A Vs Player B on Player A's stage of choice
Player A Vs Player B on Player B's stage of choice
Player A Vs Player B on mutually agreed stage of choice

Whichever player has most wins out of three moves up.

Yes, when like 12 of my friends would get together, we played tournament mode quite a number of times. It was a lot of fun and made it more interesting than just random matches. While today's update wasn't Earth-shattering, I'm still glad they said they're including it in Brawl.

Also, Sakurai both on this update and on the wi-fi update, said he was not revealing all there is to it, so i think online tourney might be a reality.

Of course, if you don’t have a large number of friends, you may not have much need for a tourney.

Still, we’re working seriously to make this mode fun for even those people.

Actually, you can also play this by yourself against computer opponents, so try it out if you’re so inclined.

This sounds to me like they are possibly working on putting tourney mode into the online component. It would be odd if they were still "working seriously" on getting AI opponents into tourney mode.

First time I'm posting in this thread. I'm not a Smash Bros fan, I didn't see the appeal of the previous games honestly. But I just want to react over this tourney update, which is the best update i've read so far. Multiplayer games NEED tourneys. And this is the first time I see it in a big Nintendo game. Oh and keep stats of all the victories/defeats too.

Actually, the fact that every name on there is back to four characters bothers me. I doubt there's two standards in the game, so I wonder which it is. It doesn't look like five characters would fit normally. ("Guest01" is longer, but the "Guest" part is specifically sized.)

Only thing I see about Brawl is that a Nintendo rep said there will be a conference in October where Brawl will be playable. Nothing about Sonic and whatnot.

also the screens demonstrate a character (Name) profile being transfered from a Wii remote.

Multiple = more than one. Could mean Snake and one other, could mean Snake and two others, could mean Snake and twenty other 3rd party characters.

In short, doesn't confirm anything beyond what we've known already.

Zelda's crown is purple. Bowser's Collar is green. Peach's crown is Pink. I guess for Bowser/Peach those would be their default colors, but not Zelda.

Well, but her crown isn't purple, it's gold.

That said, the couple times her little icon pops up in the screenshots, she's always looking like that. So either they deliberately changed her default colour to purple every time (sneakily confirming alternative palettes) or this is just her new default icon in the game (much more likely).

I'm pretty positive it's the new default icon. Afterall Peach's crown isn't pink either, it's because it's the color of her dress.

They actually did this in Melee with some characters (their default icon having a different color article because it went better with their overall color). I just can't think of it right now.

You can take your Smash saves with you, to your friends house?

I noticed this also. Sakurai mentioned earlier that they were working on a means of saving profiles on the wiimote (i.e. custom button layouts), but they were unsure if they could get this working or not. But sadly, I don't feel this is conclusive evidence.

Also, in addition to Fox and Wario, Ike seems missing too. ZOMG suspense!?!?

Luigi, no doubt about it. I'd say I'm 99.9999999% sure he'll return.

Jigglypuff? Well Jiggly now kind've has a rep of being the first/easiest character you unlock. So that's what I'm expecting for Brawl.
