I thought Amir0x's avatar was some Disney thing. The guy on the left looks almost like stylistic Goofy.

This just makes me mad that I haven't been able to play the game. Look, I'm taking Japanese now, and I'm slowly learning, but I can only learn so fast. I've stayed away from everything Mother 3 related to not ruin it just hoping I'd see an official release, and now...now my most anticipated game of the year (because Mother 3 is probably not coming out in the US) has to go and rub it in my face.

Starmen.net's semi-finished translation patch is out. If I could play through Pokemon Gold's shoddy patch at the age of 11 or whatever I was, I'm sure you can do this.

Team Bumblebee!

Team Bumblebee will rock.

At least thematically. In terms of their fighting abilities, well, either Lucas better be incredible or Ness better have gotten hit with the de-nerf stick.

Team Blue-haired swordsmen(B-HS for short) will totally kick their ass.

So do we think that this:

is a screenshot of a new ability? I don't remember Ness thrusting his hand outwards and having a huge purple energy ball appear before him?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lucas has a totally new moveset, and Ness is still in the game as an unlockable. (I think we're going to see the same thing with the Fire Emblem situation... Ike is the newcomer, Marth will be unlockable.)

ANYWAY off the topic of Lucas, I think we're going to get Captain Falcon either Friday (we've gotten two character updates in one week before. I think it was the same week as Pokemon Trainer, who was also a newcomer revealed on a Monday...) or next week before the Nintendo Conference. And at that point we have a high chance of having our complete starting roster. :O

We can't know for sure though... so we'll have to wait and see! :D

Lucas' eyes are actually quite an upgrade from Ness' lifeless black ovals.

They still both kinda creep the hell out of me though! :lol

However, looking at the screenshots...... the graphics are amazing......
I wonder what Luca's moveset will be..

Predictions!!!

I predict a moveset or final smash, what do you guys think?

Not if Ness returns to SSB glory and Lucas matches. :D

Past cases of two or more characters per week:

May 22nd to 25th: Mario + Link double update (Wednesday), Pit (Friday)
June 4th to 8th: Kirby + Pikachu double update (Thursday)
June 11th to 15th: Fox (Monday), Samus (Friday)
August 13th to 17th: Pokemon Trainer (Monday), Peach (Friday)

Two of Ed, Andy, and Sami should be playable, and Ling should be an assist. Out of the three who aren't playable, they should be assists along with Max.

Also, Lip and Starfi should be playable, and Flint should be an assist.

Do we know what role Ed and Ling play in AW yet? They might not even be starring characters...

-No Smash 101/Technique update since gliding on August 30th, and we still haven't gotten an update about the crawling mechanic or the new roll mechanic (that doesn't seem to require putting up a shield first, going by the November 2006 video).

There are many, many things I would do to have Milly and Guillo in. I just don't believe they have a shot. :( Even if Nintendo does own Monolith, no way they'd put in three Baten Kaitos characters when some home-grown Nintendo franchises don't even have two.
You can do dodges without your shield appearing in melee if you hit L+direction at the same time.

BTW, does Nintendo own the rights to Baiten Kaitos?

That's the dodge, different from the roll. Dodging keeps you in the same place but grants you some frames of invincibility, while rolling moves you back or forward and... also has some frames of invincibility, but some frames where you're vulnerable.

I want to know the answer to the other question too, though. >_>

Yep, cyclical thread is cyclical. Much to my chagrine--whatever that word means. In 22 years I've never bothered to look it up.

It's fine. You just hate Microsoft/Rare. They look perfectly normal. Having a 2x4 for a nose is JUST FINE for Banjo. Stop being biased.

When did they show this? I haven't seen it so I'm just surprised a bit... I guess it's okay, they look more goofy which is what they game's about so I guess...

I have to admit, I'll never look at Piplup in quite the same way again after that hour of refreshing or whatever it was. :(

Just so you know, Smash will probably be playable next Wednesday at Nintendo's Media Event showcasing Holiday games and NP said they were going to have a hands on impression on the game in their next issue so...

Can't fucking wait for that issue of NP to hit (although we're likely to receive hands-on impressions from websites the same day of the event, unless... :/ )

Oh, and Metal Gear Solid STAGE for tonight's prediction.

Wait: are you the same Jiggy who posted the brilliant "Wii's future outlook is not looking very good" statement in the other thread?

Yeah, was discussed but I don't think I ever found out if the event was in the US or Japan?

His dashing-A move and Air-Forward A.

Shit, does it just look kinda sorta similar to it, or do you think he's doing the exact same move?

Yes.
And it was partly tongue-in-cheek (Newton probably doesn't apply to game development), but I do stand by it somewhat. :( Even though SSBB is almost guaranteed to be my favorite game of all-time and Galaxy looks brilliant and Fire Emblem will be as great as it always is.

Despite all of that, it doesn't change how the future will go. The third-party "support" for Wii so far has been absolutely horrible, and we haven't seen any announcements to suggest that this is going to change anytime soon. :/ People who want to make "epic" games without needing PS3/360 budgets seem to be putting their games on DS instead of Wii, such as Dragon Quest IX or Tales of Innocence.

And on the first-party side, Nintendo hasn't announced any games for 2008 except Wii Fit and Mario Kart. At this time last year, the Wii lineup we knew about contained Smash Bros., Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Super Paper Mario, and more, even though these games weren't going to be released until far in the future.

I'm getting pretty worried.
