Well, given that Co Op Adventure mode turns the game into a new co op, side scrolling brawler... I propose "Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread - Streets of Smash"

...

Or "Double Smashin' "

(Seriously, though... is there anything that differentiates 2 player co op Brawl Adventure mode from a traditional brawler, like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, or Double Dragon?)
The aerial mechanics. You could move "up" on the screen and still be standing on the ground in most traditional beat-em-ups, but in SSBB moving up can only mean jumping. This is more like Smash Super Star, as so many of us keep alluding to. :D

Brawl might as well be a sequel to KSS as well as Melee.

I love it. Reminds me of Kirby Superstar for SNES.

Best co-op sidescroller since Kirby Super Star?
You people are all correct. :D
Yes, I quoted myself and called myself correct.

Yeah, Alternate Costumes seem like a very likely thing, especially as it would be a progression of the limited costume stuff we had in Melee (Peach/Daisy).

I want more. Now I want a playable Sakurai. Yes Sakurai should be the final character to unlock.
Hmm.

Remember Stage Debut, guys?

Remember how it had Yamauchi, Miyamoto, and Iwata dancing around at one point?

Imagine a playable Yamauchi.

a level editor done right (where we could set complex paths for platforms and adjust timing, as well as certain properties for each platform) would be a very welcomed addition.

Yeah, the only people who had alternate costumes outright were Pikachu, Pichu, and Jigglypuff. I'm really hoping for those Metroid Fusion/Zero Mission gallery alternates for Zero Suit Samus. I'd take her more casual white clothes all the time!

Yeah, I see the KSS connection... I was thinking this was the perfect example of a modern brawler, but I had forgotten about the four directional movement in most brawlers. Drat. So much for that theory.

But, if you choose a harder difficulty, your rewards will be greater. That’s another part of the fun.

adventure mode will be a great place to unlock stuff. Wonder what we'll get after Intense :D

I would be happy with just being able to block out simple static platforms and skinning them like an existing level. Also being able to set the screen boundary dimensions.

That'd be mindblowingly cool. I somehow can't imagine them doing it since most creative people tend to want their creations to outlive them and have a greater legacy, but to me at least it would be awesome. In that sort of way seen in SNES RPGs where there's a hidden room to talk to in-game representations of the developers...

Skyworld related to Skytown?

FIGHTING ON RAILS IN METROID STAGE CONFIRMED!
The secret to Skyworld is that one must enter and complete a tower to get to it.

So... I said at 7am...

I will announce this right here, right now. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, you can also play with two players simultaneously!

goooooooddddddddd it just gets better and betterrrrrrr!!! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE O_O

Not only will the co-op be a blast, but I can't wait to see how the plots for the characters unfold. :)

You know, with the follow-the-leader aspect going on here, I wonder if most of the character teams will be pairings of equal speed to try to prevent the second player from lagging too far behind. After all, Kirby's about on par with Zelda and Peach, and Pit seems kind of average like Mario.

I guess the alternative is to make the faster character the sidekick so they won't have trouble following along...

I'm not sure if this will interest anyone besides me, but I noticed that the character icons in Adventure mode are identical to the Tournament mode icons.

Same nameplates and everything. I wonder if the same ones will get used for the character select screen too?

Incidentally, here have been the megatons in my own opinion, since the beginning:

May 22nd - The Thirty-Freaking-Six Musicians
June 8th - All four control types being usable
July 2nd - Assist trophies
August 3rd - Subspace Emissary
September 7th - My Music, AKA the reason they needed The Thirty-Freaking-Six Musicians
September 18th - Wi-fi play
October 5th - Co-op Subspace Emissary

Maybe we'll get another megaton this month, to keep up the September pace? As opposed to the once-a-month pace that was going on before then.

Nice idea, but IIRC none of the stages have appeared in the Subspace Emissary yet - it appears that the whole thing is played out on a number of different backdrops, but no actual stages (Bridge of Eldin, Castle Siege etc.) have been seen.

Am I the only one who thinks this is how the begining goes (according to the videos)

Mario and Kirby are fighting

Subspace enemies come in, ruin shit

Petey blasts Mario INTO THE SKY

You fight Petey as Kirby

Whichever Princess you chose is now with Kirby (Notice how he's paired up with Zelda)

-scene ends-

Cut to Pit getting his mission from Palutena

Pit does his little flying bit

Mario, who just went flying, knocks into Pit in the sky.

Mario and Pit are now a team.

-Level 1 start-

Sounds right to me. Pretty sure Sakurai and team have been trying not to spoil the progression of adventure mode too much, so they probably focused on showing only very early parts.

From the spanish site:

"Creo que ha llegado la hora de soltar la bomba... En el modo aventura, el Emisario Subespacial, ¡podrán participar dos jugadores a la vez!"

Or

"I think it's time to drop the bomb..."

Has Nintendo ever polished a game like that?
i'd say almost all of nintendo's games are super polished.

but what i think you were getting at... i can't think of any examples where nintendo's gone all out with an abundance of content/features. it's exciting to see nintendo actually step it up like this.

Only comparable time ever was Super Smash Bros. Melee, which at this point is clearly behind SSBB. Sad to think we probably won't get another Ninty game this feature-rich until the next time Sakurai returns, if he ever does. :(

Skyworld is Pit's stage. It doesn't look like the actual multiplayer stage, but it is themed after Pit. So we can infer that other levels will be based on the various games too.

I'm sure he will, he'll just be doing other stuff in the meantime.

We'll probably get one Smash per generation. :)

Personally, one thing I think that's been really missing so far is match replays. Save them, send them to friends, and view them with pause, camera control etc. That would be something I'd find great, unlike this adventure mode which I will never play after I unlock everything.

Ok, let's think of all the crazy extras that could be in Brawl for next megaton update:

1. Brawl Wii-makes - Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Punch-Out!, etc. with updated Brawl models.
2. Stage Editor / Character Creator
3. Mii as a character with Wii Sports based move set
4. Mario Paint Mode - You can use Trophies to make your own movies and share them with other people through your WiFi connection
5. SD Card support (would anyone really use it with the ass ton of awesome music?)
6. New Characters to be released post release date via WiiShop
7. Pixel Mode - Play as your Brawl character in its original character mode
8. Murder Mystery Adventure - An entire point and click adventure game based on the world of Brawl
9. Playground Games - Games like four square, King of the Hill, tug of war, etc.
10. Audio Commentary on the Adventure mode.

Ooh, now this I like. If they did include a playable Mii character with its own moveset, it would make sense to rip it from the Wii range of games - boxing gloves, baseball bat, shooting range gun etc. (a little like Mr Game & Watch, in fact)

This is good, I guess. But. If I'm playing with a friend, wouldn't it make more sense to, uh, just do a vs. battle? That's why I like Smash.

...
...
and you can't still do a Vs. battle because...

Why would you want a character creator in a game focused entirely on franchise characters, both from Nintendo and a select few third party characters?

That's like suggesting a tactical RPG mode for Mario Kart.
