NEWCOMER: Security Officer

Final Smash: Marathon Plot

He's putting away his gun and
reading a terminal!

Whatever it is he's reading,
it must be very deep.

Seven... mythological references... rampancy...
This vague stuff makes my head hurt!

Oh, this POV is making my head spin too! The other
brawlers are getting motion sickness!

There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before.

I'm gonna guess and say there will be an RPG element as well.

Just to put the brakes on this a *bit*: he may be alluding to something in plot terms, along the lines of "Collect the ten Golden Foozles to break through the Ancient Minister's magical shield!"

...but having said that, it's Sakurai, and he keeps surprising me by never failing to take the awesome option. Some form of RPG element; levelling, or wearable armour or powerups or somesuch would not surprise me.

I doubt we'll see anything more robust than this...

I'm now wondering if I ought to be reading anything into the fact that the top-right hand corner there has a pretty much perfect Hidden Mickey.

...holy crap.

I am impressed by your lack of a life. :D

Tonight I predict the return of those items from Earthbound. The moving things with the noses. You know that ones.

I guess that would be cool, but I'd rather not have RPG elements crop into the multiplayer aspect. Upgrading characters in fighters, while sounds appealing, really turned me off from the DBZ Budokai games.

No SSBM items have gotten their own update--except crates and barrels, which were somewhat redesigned, and Poke Balls, which have Pokemon with new effects anyway.
Besides, Mr. Saturns were already built into the Snake movie update, like Lip's Stick was built into the Munchlax update.

On a separate note, October 8th is the 100th update day.

Recall that many of us were expecting quite a bit from the 100th update, and yes indeed, that update turned out to be Wi-Fi Play. So are we expecting a Mondayton even though co-op was just confirmed with the Friday update? What say you, NeoGAF?

I expect Mondayton Chozo Ruins

I think it might be a major story update revealing a boss character, like Ridley or another online mode. But since we have been getting a lot of good ones lately, i'd laugh if it was an itme or something.

Newcomer Ridley or Little Mac would be nice. :D

Phendrana :p
Phendrana would be splendid. :D
But not on a 100th day of updates. I'm predicting an online stage editor for Monday, no joke. If I forget any time between now and 11:59 PM Pacific on Sunday, hold me to this. My secondary prediction is Bomberman, and my tertiary is alternate outfits.

The whole Subspace emissary thing reminds me a little bit of Weapons Master mode in Soul Caliber, the world map, the different stages. And by RPG elements, I meant something like increasing the amount of damage you do or knock back etc. And maybe have shops and stuff you can visit. If Sakurai does end up adding some RPG elements to it, I'm sure it will be better then my ideas :lol.

Weapons Master mode also had a currency to buy ALTERNATE COSTUMES!

You and me both. I'd play as Link's Awakening Link, Justin Bailey Samus, Mario Golf Peach, Wind Waker Ganondorf, Girl Pokemon Trainer, etc. more than 75% of the time I picked any of those characters...

A bit off topic... But I had a dream once awhile ago.

Young Link was in Smash Brawl. He looked like OoT Link in the sense he was realistic looking, but his hair was parted on the side and he wore a more detailed version of his clothes from WW (belt with the swirly buckle, light green undershirt) and had all his weapons from WW only they were realistic looking (like the Deku leaf looked like a photorealistic giant leaf)

It was just a dream I had, but I think that'd be the best way to please WW fans without making the OoT/TP purists upset over "Celda".

Yes folks I DREAM about Smash Brawl.

There are some nights when I'm just sitting around and interneting like usual, then I look at the clock and think it's only a few more hours until Japan Time.

And then I realize it's Friday night. :(

In the sense that he'd have orange hair and look like a hero instead of a peasant, yes.

And now to completely take my mind off of that.

We're at 26,137 posts after 20 weeks of updates. That equals 1306.85 posts per week, or ~26 pages by the 50-posts-per-page count. But that's an average. I went back and looked and, what do you know, September 21st, 2007 was exactly 14 days ago and that begins on page 413. This means that lately we've been growing 55 pages per week.
Even crazier... The two updates that most of us would agree were the most significant, Subspace Emissary and Wi-Fi Play, came before September 21st. I assumed that we'd slow down after that since it seemed like the only way to go from such megaton news was down, but no--actually, we're going much, much faster than before.

I guess sp0rsk's thread titles must be doing the trick, or something. It was, after all, September 21st that started this title business with "Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread - Now With Hamlet." >_>

So, were those new Smash Bros threads about WiFi and Subspace Emissary added to this thread?

Epic 1P mode with co-op, online multiplayer, nearly every Nintendo character, including small ones, Solid Snake complete with codec conversations, WarioWare level, it goes on and on and on. Sakurai left no stone unturned, he's a goddamn genius of satisfaction and charm.

I wasn't nearly as eager for past installments. It's amazing how amazing games can be when the proper thought and effort is put forth.

If this is anything less than an 8, the whole paradigm of game previews needs to go out the window.

If the game gets less than a 9, I am just going to assume the reviewer is being a dick.

If you think any Nintendo Wii game is going to feature a headset anytime soon you're out of your mind
why is this so out of this world? Do you mean soon like tomorrow? Why is it impossible for the wii to have a headset if the DS does?

It took forever for the DS to get headset support. Nintendo isn't even having all games be based on Wii system codes yet, do you really think headset support is coming anytime soon?

Since there will be a Wind Waker Link, I think Link's final smash will probably involve him turning into a wolf or something like that.

What the hell people.

No update tonight. Feels good to go to bed early

I think we'll see a headset eventually, but support will be game to game based.
The Wii basically shuts down everything when it plays a game, so you won't see a system wide support of it like on XBL.

what do friend codes have to do with headset support? I never said it's coming soon, I said it is not impossible. Headset support doesn't have to be on every game.
