Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread: Goodbye, Cherry-don

I'm glad this was a double. Two kinda crappy updates are still crappy but somehow it's okay because there's two of them. Anyway, I'll kill someone if you can't use the c-stick in training mode. Who the hell wants camera control?

(Cue stupid argument over c-stick usage)

Also, Electrode's expression is hilarious.

I don't mean to sound unappreciative over the update, but all they really told us was "you know that mode that you would totally expect to be in? It's in!". I'm tired of the contents in the update being more interesting than the update itself.

Wow, more items that can backfire! Now not only the hammers can fail but the smart bomb and Electrode as well.

It seems like Sakurai is trying to make random appearing items... even more random.

SOCCER BALL!

I also see a ball of yarn.

Gotta be one powerful item.

This update offers even less to discuss than last night's, if that's possible. I mean, training seems to have no noticeable differences from before and the bomb is well...a bomb. You throw it. Things go boom. Such is the circle of life.

FUCK YEAH ELECTRODE

Wait, that pokeman's name is Electrode? How totally disappointing. I always called him Explodeymon.

Eccentrica Gallumbits, the triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six, has described Electrode as "the best bang since the big one".

And I sincerely hope I don't need to explain that reference.

-In the past five days of updates (including this one), we've had three game modes. This is madness, this is Sparta, etc.

-Game modes once again move up to be tied with final smashes at 16 updates each just after final smashes pulled ahead. Maybe this week will progress like last week, where final smashes, how to plays, and game modes just match each other at every turn for the sake of staying tied, but I certainly hope not.

-The Smart Bomb is the 12th normal item, bringing normal items just ahead of assist trophies, and the 8th Star Fox update, bringing that franchise up to the Dojo's fourth-most-represented. (Behind Pokemon/Mario and Kirby.) Beware, Ye Who Fear Krystal. She may be on her way. :( But at least the thread would be more active than it's been in a while, courtesy of Novembust. The only bad reaction is no reaction, amirite? ...Am I? :(

-Our five least recent update types are now Poke Ball, character profile, story mode, assist trophy, and stage. If Poke Ball was swapped out for music, these would probably be my five favorite types in general. >_>

-I went ahead and changed tracking on an old statistic, so this should be the 20th double update officially--as opposed to what would have been the 23rd unofficially, when counting things like Excitebike + stealth Lakitu, Target Smash + stealth replays, and the North America delay announcement that doesn't appear on other site languages.

-Edit: Four of those double updates have been in the past twelve days, today included.

Quoted for truth and accuracry.

I'm still waiting for the update where they show Event Mode is still in and in addition to 50 new events we'll have periodic downloadable events from Nintendo and/or users can create and share their events in a similar manner to stages. That will be an awesome update.

Yet again, excellent job with the stats. You keep me awake late even on the lame nights where I'm much more inclined to simply go to bed. :D

Normally I'd say that no, no amount of discussion would be worth Krystal, but...we're getting desperate here.

Okay, let's spur some discussion.

I believe the Star Fox smart bomb should clearly have been a blue stellated dodecahedron as it was in Star Fox 64, none of this generic fiery circle stuff. Discuss.

[best use of Electrode ever]
I'd say you win the internets, but the internets aren't worth much these days until the Dojo updates start being awesome again, so how about a cookie? :D

Noooooooo. Something bigger must happen.

I'm all for rampant AC speculation, but that soccer ball is just the smoke bomb. It hasn't been activated yet in that picture.

EDIT: Oh now I see it.

The site isn't ment to be just an update page for us to get the latest scoops, it also doubles as basically an FAQ page for new players to learn up on the game. Of course they are going to have all the game modes in no matter how much people like us expect them to be in. Game modes are one of the most important features of the game so its important to have them all listed.

Do.....Do you not see the soccer ball on the lower platform by the Gooey Bomb? It's the black and white ball covered with various black and white pentagons. You know, the thing that looks like a soccer ball? Below the Smoke ball. That Soccer Ball. Do you see it?

]

And what about the Actual soccer ball in the picture?

i hope the soccer ball is a general purpose item that just lets you throw/hit it at people and doesn't disappear unless it falls off the level. that would be an amazing item.

Is the cookie a Smash Bros update?

oh wow, I think I'm actually blind.

Now wheres that eye seeing dog of mine, I'll just be on my way...

I remember that in the really early days of updates we were easily amused by funny screenshots like Kirby slipping on the banana peel. Of course, back then the updates themselves sucked (things really didn't start picking up until July 2nd), but still...

I suppose that these days it takes more to entertain us--partly because we just came from The October Of Amazing, but also because after a while the humor of the screenshots starts seeming too similar. Electrode's disappointment is pretty great, though.

Anyway. I'm going to go edit one more stat about double updates into that previous post of mine, then I'm done for the night.

We're just cranky now since Brawl's delayed till February. Now we're desperate for more megaton information to make up for that.

Yes, it's coming with the Food From Previous Installments update. It'll heal 1% more than the rice ball.

Iam Canadian said:
It's the new Mother item. Heals 6% health.

Actually, I'd prefer the hamburger from the trash, myself.
Skip Sandwich would own, 6% healing and temporary bunny hood effect. I could see it already. :D
Actually, speaking of Onett, they should have the Sharks as an assist trophy--and even more than that, I hope one of those composers signed up to do the Franky/New Age Retro Hippie theme. I'd sometimes go hunting those hippies for like half an hour with no weapon equipped just because of that music.

Well, I'd probably be cranky regardless. >_> The updates could have been spaced out a bit better--October didn't have to be loaded up on co-op and Sonic and replays and the stage builder and King Dedede and Lucas and the PictoChat stage and New Pork City and The Summit and Shadow Moses Island and the Snake codec conversations and Ashley's theme and online Homerun Contest just to leave November to consistently fall on its face.

Wow, October really was amazing concerning updates...

November is sure to have one thing that's good about it, we still have a week and a bit left.

One would hope... Yin:Yang :: Oct:Nov. Balance to the megatonic world. We've tapped the megaton stream dry!!

It just struck me Smash Brawl may not have a 'Dan'. All great fighting games need a 'Dan' to truely be completely. A shitty joke character thats horrible as a fighter AND personality. Someone to kick your friends ass with and the mock them afterwards. With the somewhat decent chance Pichu has been dropped, there is a void to be filled.

I think there is only one Nintendo character thats horrible in both worth and personality to fill those shoes. Gentlemen Tingle MUST be in the game. And he must be a shitty shitty character to play as.

I mean he's already got that 'so dumb he is good' vibe going for him that Dan is in complete command of. He has the shoes to fill the spot.

For smash to be complete Tingle must be in the game. Or like they put in Dan, I donno whatever works.
