This is limiting things to Nintendo characters, of course, lest I go too wild. >_> It's actually pretty tough thinking in terms of wanting clones specifically, because they generally have to be characters who both 1) probably wouldn't have stood a chance of getting in otherwise, and 2) would have the sort of moveset conducive to copying one of the 24 characters we know about. Already had to kind of sneak Red Alloy in there.

Some really weird choices there... o.o

Hector shooting missiles from his axe? Also inflating and flying through the air?

Some odd choices really. >_>

I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, Cloud, Geno and Sora are in the same boat. There's plenty of more worthy characters that SE could bother to sign off on to use in Brawl, such that they wouldn't have to utilize these guys that just don't come off as iconic as a number of other characters in SE's grand pantheon that have much more of a "Nintendo" air to them.

If you want some one more recent, there's the likes of Monteblanc (FFTA), Neku (It's a Wonderful World), or even the new guys from the upcoming DQ9 and FFCC Wii games would be ok choices, even if they were meant more to advertise and promote than anything else. :D

But in the classic model, you got the likes of Terra, Celes, Kain, Cecil, either of the Figaro Bros., Crono, Magus, a wide slew of Dragon Quest favorites, or even generics like a Black Mage and a Slime combo. Any of these guys would be both iconic, as well as would do more to resonate with the Nintendo demographic than the 3 aforementioned characters.

Cloud = Is definitely more of a PSX-generation personality, plus he's only appeared in one game on the GBA...and as a bit role at that.

Geno = Caters to a relatively small hardcore fanbase. Hell, Europe has no real reason to like the character, since they didn't even get to play SMRPG.

Sora = Much more of a PS2-generation personality. Only one game on the Nintendo hardware thus far, and it would still be more of a thing that his Disney roots would probably bring an unwelcome flavor to the party. If you really want some one like Sora in this game, again, I would suggest devoting your energy towards IaWW's Neku.

Oooooh God.

I don't even want to think of Mona using Wario's moves.
It would actually mostly work.

Her vespa instead of the motorcycle, perfume instead of farts, her monkey instead of biting...I'd actually be a little surprised if Sakurai didn't do it.

...okay, now I'm envisioning her shooting perfume out of her ass. I don't think this is a constructive line of thought.

So...I think we can pretty much plan on being disappointed by the updates until the game is released in Japan...we can blame that one on my Pikmins.

She COULD just aim a perfume bottle downward.

Now that I think about it, she COULD be a clone of Wario, I suppose.

I don't really play SE games, but I have heard of barely any of those names listed. Outside the Slime, I would hardly think any of those are "iconic". Cloud and Sora are as mainstream as it gets for SE characters. As for the Nintendo system thingy...Who cares? The other two 3rd party characters certainly have not made their biggest splash on Nintendo consoles. I mean, I would say pretty much everyone would consider Snake a Playstation character these days.

Whoa, when did YOU come back?
And how long until you're banned again?
came back today
and will be banned next time i enter a Tales of thread :lol
glad to know i was missed. :lol

anyway, i can't help but think how cool a Kat & Ana team character would be. instead of two characters side by side, the moves involve them surrounding you and attacking.

Well, there you go.

If you never played the likes of Chrono Trigger, or the 16bit era Final Fantasies, of course you're not going to know what they're about. But for those who have (which is probably like everybody else), they'd have much more reason to have an affinity for those characters than the 3 mentioned.

Sonic is debatable. After the Dream(cast) died, Sonic's next major home was the Nintendo demographic. So, one could make a compelling argument that Sonic Adventure 2: Battle WAS the next biggest splash for him.

As for Snake...his was more of a thing of getting in mainly because of Sakurai's friendship with Kojima than anything else. But nevertheless, to completely overlook the likes of the original MG for the NES (Snake's Revenge doesn't really count), as well as Ghost Babel for the GBC would be a falsehood. These games are often as cherished as the MSX originals. So it's not like Snake doesn't have ANY Nintendo ties. Which is again, still much more to speak of than for either Sora or Cloud.

So? I had never heard of Ike before Brawl. Same shiz.

The Geno hate in this thread is heartbreaking. Let's see if I can step up to the plate as the Geno Defense force.

1. Mario RPG was an awesome game. There wouldn't be a Paper Mario if people didn't have memories of how awesome Mario could be in a turn based game. And instead of filling the game with dark-this, or baby-that, or a proliferation of Final Fantasy cameos, Square actually came up with a unique and interesting cast of heroes and villains. It had every much a Mario feel as anything out of Intelligent Systems.

2. On to Geno - The premise may be a bit weak, spirit inhabiting a doll, but he did have a bit of personality. Granted, he was a voice of reason character (he brought Bowser to his senses in Smithy Way) so he wasn't as eccentric as the others, but he was still a memorable addition.

3. And above all else, he had quite a few cool attack that could be brought to the table in Brawl. Energy Beams, Cannons, Wands, and Shooting Fists, plus anyone remember Geno Flash? Imagine a Final Smash done with Wii specs. 'nuff said.

4. And finally, remember, it's Sakurai. Even if my above testimony doesn't convince you, remember that Sakurai can make anything awesome.

Geno is totally different from any of those in that he's semi-first-party: whoever owns his rights, his game is all Nintendo. He's iconic of Super Mario RPG, seeing as all the other party members are already in(Mallow doesn't count). And I don't think that's any more obscure than a game like Ice Climber. Most importantly, he's a popular character who would be a really unique addition to the roster. Smash's roster is all about the fanservice.

Speaking of which, I wouldn't mind it if Mallow made it in either.

I have nothing against SMRPG itself, it's a great game. I just didn't think Geno was anything special.

Although there is a certain pleasure in using Geno Whirl to deal 9999 HP of damage to normal monsters. That I must admit.

I loved SMRPG growing up, so I s'pose hearing people blasting it hit a nerd defense reaction with me or something. But still, Geno had some pretty damn cool attacks.

...Getting back more on topic...

The newest, and much more LEGIT scuttlebutt from the SmashBoards forums, is that Japan will have 3 days worth of being able to try out a demo of the game before the game's release, thanks to the World Hobby Fair towards the end of this month.

No word of if it will be any different in scope from the JumpFesta/E For All builds, but, I think this does do quite a bit more to demonstrate how the game is basically DONE and prepping for release...thus doing more to kill the possibility of the game being delayed in any respect.

Yeah it's not delayed in Japan.

Had to get Hector in there somewhere and the only way it could happen would be to copy someone with a hammer, since those are sort of like axes. They'd have to change the moveset pretty significantly, though, I agree. :(

Link mistook Marin for Zelda at first. And Sami would probably be a lithe character like ZSS. I was almost going to say make her a Snake clone, but she might end up animating a bit strangely that way.

1. Yup.

2. Also, Mona seems much more realistic now.

3. That's true, but what would her Smash B, Up B, and B moves be? And most importantly, her Down B?

4. I could actually see Sami being a Snake clone.

The only character that could make this game better, IMO. Well, her and Ridley, just to please everyone waiting for him.. it... but it'd better be not a clone.

1. Yes.
2. I hope so.
4. Yeah.

3.
Neutral B: Twirls and animals surround her.
Smash B: Sings a musical note that flies through the air like Din's Fire; it doesn't "explode," but can do damage at any point in its traveling. Not as fast as Din's Fire.
Up B: Summons the crane game crane to lift her. Anyone who touches the crane as it lifts is hurt and knocked back.
Down B: Pulls out a shovel, presses it into the ground while yelling "Dig to the center of the earth!" and then lifts, sending the opponent flying upward. ...Well, either that or she could just smash it on their heads and drive them into the ground Donkey Kong style, but I don't think that would be as fun.

But why did this site crash and not like Smash dojo. :lol
Nintendo is using the Pikmin to power the servers instead of using them to produce more Wii systems.

Only the third party characters (Sonic and Snake) got videos along with their special moves so I don't think we'll see Olimar in motion until we get leaked Japan footage.

I think Nintendo started using forigian workers. Them elebits have been going overtime.

I'm wondering why there are so many crazy character predictions now? Was Olimar that surprising? He was a front-runner for playable, at least thats how I saw it.

Or is it always like this in here? I haven't seriously read this thread in a while.

Update prediction: Pikmin & Olimars Moves or FS
